The Art and Fic of Melisus

I finished this a few days ago, but didn't want to post it here until I sent it off to ani_bester for the hp_art_project. But that's all taken care of so I can share the art now!

Notes: Done for the hp_art_project based on Chapter 8 of PoA. You can't see the Fat Lady's portrait but she'd be off to the right. The pieces of canvas in the air imply Sirius is lunging in for another attack. I had a lot of fun with Sirius, not so much fun with the angry red background... but then again, it's been a while since I broke out the watercolours.

Notes: I thought of following up my Speed drawing with a drawing of Rex... because he's awesome. No car this time because... um... because I didn't want to do one. THERE IS SO MUCH YELLOW. This is based on the original Rex, not the movieverse Rex so he's in yellow instead of red (wow... big difference). Figuring out the colours was more challenging than it ought to be as in the episode where he appears in colour, the colours on his racing outfit keep changing from frame to frame. So what you get are the colours I picked.

I blame the increasing amount of total Speed Racer love on my discovery of speed_fic. Expect more soon! Also, I'm enjoying this solid colour thing I've got going on. It's very cartoony, but I find it works really well for artwork for this fandom!

Notes: I don't know why I did this. I was watching a CSI: Miami marathon yesterday, was feeling kind of bored, and just picked up my things and began to draw. Suddenly, I have this drawing. Not bad, I think, ESPECIALLY on the Mach 5 since I didn't use any references (hence the very skewed perspective... so just ignore the car and stuff). Attempting to draw the Mach 5 and doing that logo took me FOREVER... (I have never drawn a car before.)

Notes: After discovering the ability to totally kick everyone's ass in Super Smash Bros Brawl by using Ike, I realized I'd never played a Fire Emblem game before. Deciding to remedy this, I picked up Blazing Sword and am currently playing through it. I was weary of the tactical RPG at first, but it's both a challenging game and rich in story with a large set of characters, each distinct with different abilities and personalities. Not sure what to draw, I gave a design to the player character - the Tactician (several reference photos used for various aspects of the costume). Primarily, this was a good chance for me to play around with colouring. Even if parts of the drawing don't look right (especially to me), I like the colours and the way that turned out. So all in all, I'm quite pleased.

So I was going to do one of those Marauder art memes when I realized I've really only ever drawn Sirius and Remus, and should probably change that. I'll get to Peter eventually, I know, because I think he needs to be shown more love. But for now, just one and maybe some more to follow in the days to come. We'll see.
