Savon Blanche Leigh (Weekend Reflections # 530)

The women and the Art Nouveau poster were reflected in a mirror inside of Brasserie Zédel.
The poster is an 1899 soap advertisement. The soap was called "Savon Blanche Leigh." The only Blanche I've known was my grandmother. I guess it's a name from the past. I should mention that the gold line that runs across the women is a hand rail for stairs and is not a reflection.

Looking for an Allegory (Weekend Reflections # 529)

Florence, Italy

This is one of those times when you probably had to be there to know exactly what you're looking at. So I'll try to explain. 
(My wife couldn't see the floating man until I showed her)
This is a reflection in a shop window. I was outside looking in. The easiest explanation is that everything in this photo is a reflection except for the strange man in the fetal position who seems to be floating above the reflected parked cars. Can you see him? His head is bent downward and seemingly resting on the nearest car with his bent knees on the second car while his foot seems to be pointing toward the man walking up the street. The floating man is not a reflection and he's not real either.The shop was closed, but I'm guessing it was an art gallery and the man hanging from the ceiling was part of an art installation.

In a Window (Weekend Reflections # 521)

Can you believe that Weekend Reflections has been around for 10 years? I had no idea that it would last this long. Thanks for ten years of reflections!

Now I'll try to explain this reflection. I was standing outside looking into a shop's window.
1)The building with the green awning and hanging sheet is a reflection.
2)The white building with the little balcony and the little head sticking out at the top left corner of the shadow are reflections.
3)The blue sky is a reflection.

Looking through the reflections can you see the umbrellas hanging upside-down inside of the shop?
Hint: Look at the bottom right corner. :-)

Oh, and the two streaks of light above the umbrellas were the ceiling lights inside the shop and not reflections.

Like the last few photos that I've posted, this was taken from outside looking in. The reflections are the buildings and sky. This window had a fleur de lys sticker on the outside and there were strange, almost alien looking lamps inside.

While walking past a night club I noticed a strange portrait inside that seemed to follow me with its eyes. I think it actually winked at me while I took a picture of the reflection of the brick building across the street.

This is the same bridge from last week reflected from a different angle. Remember the "statue-like" man? That's him on the left walking away toward the tower. 
As for the two women reflected on the right, it almost looks like they were wearing the carpet that was hanging inside of the shop.

St. Peter's Basilica at Night (Weekend Reflections # 510)

After walking around St. Peter's Basilica I noticed this reflection in a puddle. I think the slight breeze gave the reflection a dreamy look.

Last week was terrible for "Linky Tools." It wasn't easy, but after several attempts I was able to link most of you. Sorry if I missed anyone.  Hopefully this doesn't happen again because I pay for Linky Tools and expect it to work properly. Maybe it's time to find a better way to link?

Like last week's reflection I had to be fast when I took this photo.  I could hear a car coming from behind me. I knelt down, clicked, then jumped between two parked cars on the right side as the car sped by. Thankfully, the reflection in the puddle was the only casualty.  :-)

Victoria Street at Night (Weekend Reflections # 504)

I was still standing across the street from the Itsu restaurant featured in last week's reflection photo. After I snapped that one I turned and noticed this reflection in a puddle. I remember thinking that I'd better be quick because the guy crossing the street will probably step in the puddle and ruin the reflection. The red semi-circle is The London Eye and there is also a partial reflection of Westminster Abbey.

To be honest, I didn't notice the mirrors reflecting the women and tables until after I took the picture. It was supposed to be candid nighttime street photography.  Bonus! (Nighttime, street, reflection photography!)    ;-)

The House of Commons,1833 / Busts (Weekend Reflections # 502)

In this part of the National Portrait Gallery the walls are reflective in the space that divides the rooms.

I don't know who these people were but they were obviously important enough to have their busts still displayed centuries later. I did notice that the women were placed above the men. I wonder if there is any significance?

Did We Make a Wrong Turn? (Weekend Reflections #501)

This young couple seemed lost and perhaps wondering how they ended up being a reflection. :-)

The couple, the iron fence, the column and the strange orange circle were all reflected on the outside window of a bus.  I was standing outside of the bus near the couple but out of the reflection. You can see the silhouette of the head of one of  passengers seated in the bus (upper left side in the orange circle). Hopefully that adds some perspective.

Paintings like this are on the outside of buildings throughout Italy. They are usually behind glass and have flowers or other decorations. They are like miniature sanctuaries right on the street. The glass on this picture is reflecting a window, a hanging lamp, and the sky.

Mona Lisa's Escape (Weekend Reflections # 498)

Rome, Italy

One day while walking through a narrow street in Rome, I looked into the workshop of master violin maker, Michel Eggimann.  The shop was closed and the latticed window was broken, but I did see a poster of Mona Lisa holding a violin. I also saw the reflection of a doorway across the street. It almost seems like the poster hanging inside the workshop is attached to the reflected door from across the street.  :o)  
The Mona Lisa poster is not a reflection. 
The doorway and wall are reflected.
