Poul Nissen is the Director of the PUMPKIN Centre, which analyses the structure and function of the ion pumps found in all plant and animal cells. This work has its origins in Jens Christian Skou�s Nobel Prize-winning discovery of the sodium�potassium pump in 1957.

Research in the Nobel league

The most significant event in the research world at Aarhus University took place in 1997. Professor Jens Christian Skou from Aarhus University was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Fukuyama at Aarhus University

Professor Francis Fukuyama will be attached to Aarhus University in the capacity of visiting professor until the year 2012, and will be contributing to conferences, seminars, symposiums and teaching.
