Yesterday was pretty nice, and not so hot. But today, the temps are expected to rise again, building to heat wave levels once again this week. It will be the third official heat wave of the year in France, with some of the highest temperatures ever recorded around the country and Europe.
I'm still in a sort of blog hiatus, as you may have noticed. Part of it is the heat; it really takes the motivation away, especially for working to take photos and process them. Another part is the lack of subject matter for new posts. I have been working on the yard on those cooler days. In fact, I just finished cutting the grass on the entirety of the property. But I've taken enough photos of the yard. There's not much left to see; most of the grass has been grilled. Rain has been scarce and the grass (and many smaller plants) have died back, dehydrated. Lawns and gardens all around the 'hood and town are mostly brown.
Nonetheless, I hope you'll check back here once in a while. I don't plan to close the blog down, but it's definitely in a slow slump. For now. Thanks for reading!

Hi Walt, yes, please continue your blog when you feel the urge, I’ll miss you if you stop. The heatwave has continued non-stop for the past 3 weeks here in the Diois. At least the grass has stopped growing so no need to mow. We’ve had one evening rain shower in all that time and my garden is suffering. There’s a wildfire on the hill above Die, thankfully no property affected, but it’s quite a biggie and difficult to access and control. I guess it won’t be the last this summer. Hope you get some cool weather soon.

But above all, keep well!!
So sorry to know your heat has returned. We’ve been rising into the 40sC every day but, as I’ve said before, we have air conditioning just about everywhere. I feel for you!
ReplyDeleteThere will be an end to this long hot summer and maybe things will return to a more normal. I'll always be looking for you and am interested in your French life. Soccer is keeping life interesting here in the USA and younger people i know are finding games to attend.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know that you're continuing the blog, but just feeling a bit of a slump :) We always like to see what you eat, and what you see at the market, and the grocery store...no matter how mundane that may seem!
ReplyDeleteHeat can really change one's life. I remember when we had the fires here, I couldn't open any windows and I tried to not even go get the mail everyday so not even a little smoke would enter my home. Having that heat dome in our future, I can definitely W A I T for it though I dread it.
ReplyDeleteYou have always shown us photos of how you view things which is so interesting to me. I can wait until you feel more exuberant and curious to do that. No worries, here! Those of us who love France, photography, cooking, and pets (! ) surely have personally experienced down times and I certainly understand.
My new interest is definitely the World Cup! I watched a little of Wimbledon just now and I am getting ready to watch Haaland (NOR) face Brazil in 30 minutes before running a quick errand and then watching Harry Kane (ENG) v. Mexico. It is fun learning about Nutmegs and Strikers. I really was angry last night watching Paraguay fake errors against FRA! Mbappe was all smiles but not me! I watched parts of other World Cups but this year it is #1 on my list! NOW, life would be dull if we didn't have our digital connections to the rest of the world!
I will be selfish and voice I hope your hiatus is over soon, for I do like to hear from you.
