There are lots of worse things to do than listen to Dvorak symphonies at the volume you get in the front row.

One of my favorite ex-Ebisu chefs is back working in the City@Miyabi! + Owner of the burrito place next door (opened during the '89 quake) remembers me well. :)

Genki crepe with nutella, strawberries and cheesecake. Very yummy! Even if the staff commented on it not being one of my usuals. Oh, soooo good!

I wish this was a post of unalloyed joy...but it isn't...while we can start digging the USA out of the hole it has been placed over the last 8 years, I loathe the fact that we, in California, chose to take away people's civil rights and enshrine discrimination in our State Constitution.

I was talking to a passenger a couple days ago, an out gay man, who had been walking a sign around...and he said his parent had been planning on voting for 8. It wasn't until he pointed out that a mere 12 years before he was born, they couldn't legally marry in California, until another activist California court decided on Brown vs. Lippold. My parent married about 15 years after that decision...although they could have married in North Carolina, which only restricted marriages between blacks and whites.

I really wonder how many of the 8 supporters (at least those eligible to vote in CA), this great melting pot of melting pots would have been banned from marriage, or not been born because of the statutes?

Sixty Years Ago, Prop 8 would have said this:

Only marriage between a man and a womanmembers of the same race is valid or recognized in California

No on Prop 8

It's good to be back! Vacation too short, but if I have to come to work, it might as well be on a nice day like this!

Things that make me smile: A pickup pulling a Porta-Potty with a long banner of TP waving gracefully in the air behind it.

Installed (almost) some shelving in the refrigerator alcove. The project needs another hour or so to get it to a point where it can be left alone. Yes, it also needs to be disassembled, sanded and painted and reassembled, but I never planned on doing that this weekend. We will now be able to have bread accessible to us and NOT to Lucifer. Also, the tupperware that holds his food will be less accessible to him.

Umm, yeah. On my weekend, anyway.

I went down to the Central California coast to meet a BERJAYAcommodorified and hang out...been way too long since we've gotten together.

We saw birds!

For areas affected by the California Fires:

If you live near a fire affected area, register yourself as safe and well.

If you're worried about someone in a fire-affected area, go check for them there.

And in any case, pass it on...
