Oh, A third one...?
We are all stuck in the binary, babes. Good thing @IvanOlita is here to let us know how to break out.
The sooner we get unstuck, the better.

That's the title of one of my favourite songs. The most lethal, the most essential thing is to hear your own voice. Also, keeping up with the idea of writing as catharsis, this one blog is dedicated all to myself. More solipsism would be hard to find. And I like it like that. Oh, and this is a queer (and self-proclaimed 'ADULT') blog so go ahead, make your day... mine is done.

I saw a documentary about Muxes back in 2023 and posted about it.
ReplyDeleteWe've been here all along, the LGBTQ+ community.

Big says,
ReplyDeleteI like that :: There is no him or her; no male or female; there is only living and inanimate.

Which kind of follows logic?
DeleteGender IS a construct, after all.

I've seen this and it's a fascinating watch and highly recommended. I think most of us have two sides whether we want to admit it or not. And then some of us Embrace both sides and love it. Just a shame people can't just be instead of having titles attached to everything.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeletePeople are too stuck on their own perceptions of who they THINK they should be.

Interesting that the Zapotec language does not distinguish between male and female genders. It does not appear that the category of Muxes includes women who dress and act in a masculine manner. I wonder what their story is?
ReplyDeleteBig says,
DeleteThat's an excellent question! Come on, Six --- inquiring minds want to know.

I think it's maybe because the feminine is considered the guardian of the traditions? I kind of got that vibe from the video.
DeleteSpanish, the language of the colonizers, did have masculine and feminine, though. Muxes are an act of rebellion, even though some present more masculine than others, probably making masculine women less salient in the culture?

With the passing of time, the way people see life changes... Amen to that all over the world.
ReplyDeleteWell, hopefully.
DeleteGender roles are still to rigid and the concept of masculinity has been warped beyond recognition...
