The Comic Cast has been rated ‘C’ for comics. This means this podcast may contain reviews of Brian K. Vaughan/Niko Henrichons’ Pride of Baghdad, J.C. Vaughn/Vincent Spencers’ Zombie Proof , Susumu Katsumatas’ Red Snow, Mark Millar/Steve McNivens’ Nemesis and Paul Hornschemeiers’ All and Sundry. It is also likely to include a review of the film version of Mark Millars’ Kick-Ass and a discussion on it’s violent content, not to mention which other future comic to film adaptations to keep an eye on. The censor also notes that an interview with 28 Days Later artist Declan Shalvey before he departed for New York is featured. Listeners should be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the comics news section as it features the latest on the Walking Dead TV series, the return of All-Star Batman and Robin and all the goings on in the Irish comics scene this month. It may also contain scenes of a sexual nature. Maybe.

Just like the Christmas Specials of Morecambe and Wise and the two Ronnies, families all over Ireland gather around their computers, basking in the warm glow of the screen and the gentle hum of it’s harddrive to listen to the Comic Cast Christmas Special. And this year we’re decking the halls with boughs of comics with reviews of The Muppet Show: Meet the Muppets by Robert Langridge, Superman: Red Son by Mark Millar/Killian Plunkett, Moronoid #1, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip K Dick/Tony Parker and Criminal by Ed Brubaker/Sean Phillips. Over the blower we chat to Gareth Lee about the first ever ISA CON 2010 Animation and Games Event at the Irish School of Animation, Ballyfermot featuring speakers from Rare Ltd. and DreamWorks Animation. Between pulling crackers we’ll be reviewing this seasons biggest movies – Where the Wild Things Are and AVATAR 3D. We’ll also be offering last minute gift ideas for the comic book / animation enthusiast in your life and if all that wasn’t enough we have a stuffed turkey of all the latest comics news from the new PSP comic reader to the bizarre new Turtles movie – Turtles Forever.

The Comic Cast loves the smell of napalm in the morning. That and comics. Accordingly we’ve been court-marshalled to review a good deal of war comics this week, wheter they be battles on the field or battles of the heart, including Megan Kelso’s The Squirrel Mother , Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man: Torment!, Jason Aaron & Cameron Stewart’s The Other Side, Damon Lindelof’s Ultimate Hulk Vs Wolverine, Rick Veitch & Gary Erskine’s ARMY@LOVE and Mark Millar’s Fantastic Four: Worlds Greatest. We also blow the bugle on the homefront with Gerry Hunt’s EASTER 1916: Blood upon The Rose, Howard Chaykin & Stephen Thompsons Die Hard Year 1 and the 24 Hour Comics ’09 Anthology. Not to mention a spoiler-free review of Pixar’s UP. The horror . . . the horror . . .
