Hello everyone!
I'm a huge fan of this time so I figured I'd join and then introduce myself.
My name is Katherine and I'm 16. I just recently got hooked on movie from this time when I was shown the ballet from An American in Paris this past summer. Soon after I saw pieces of That's Entertainment and Singing in the Rain and I was hooked.
My favorite stars are Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Audrey Hepburn, Donald O'Connor, Bing Crosby, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Danny Kaye, and Ginger Rogers.
My favorite movies are Singing in the Rain, Top Hat, Roberta, Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Funny Face, Royal Wedding, On the Town, and Gone with the Wind. Although, really, I'm in love with most movies from the time period. |

Hey guys! My name is Tim and I'm 21 years old. I've loved this period for a few years now and am just irresistably drawn to the class, romance, and talent of its stars. I always joke with people that I was born in the wrong generation, and I honestly think its true. I don't really fit in well with people my age when they start talking about what movies and music they like, so I was awfully glad to find this communtiy!
My favorite stars would have to be Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Becall...I'll stop there but I'm sure I'm leaving some great people out!
Some favorite movies would be: A Star is Born (1954), Casablanca, The Philadelphia Story, Swing Time, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Meet Me in St. Louis, etc. |

New member here! Thought I better introduce myself and all. :P

Favourite stars:Donald O'Connor, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Peggy Ryan, Jack Lemmon, Walter Mathau, Charlie Chaplin.
Favourite movies: Singin' in the Rain, On the Town, Call me Madam, The Odd Couple, The Band Wagon, Easter Parade, and the list goes on! ^^
As you can see, I'm a big Donald O'Connor fan! I love his work to bits, and I wish his tap dancing abilities were as reconized as Gene Kelly's and Fred Astaire's. He was truely a wonderful actor, singer and dancer. RIP, Mr O'Connor!
I don't know if I can do this, but I recently created a Donald O'Connor community, and I'd love if any of you Donald fans could join!

By the way, have any of you heard some of his radio shows? I downloaded a few the other day, one in particular with Bing Crosby. It was from around 1944, in what Mr O'Connor calls his "second career" in movies. It was just before he went off to war, which he never actually fought in and instead got to entertain the troups there. Anyway, the radio show was just brilliant, and I ended up making a transcript of it in my spare time. Would anyone be interested in seeing it?
