Prompts have been SENT! With the way things are, I wouldn't be surprised if I made a mistake. If you haven't received your prompts by tomorrow, comment here or email me at ausar@netdoor.com
Please make sure to check your spam folders, and alternate email addresses first. And if I sent you the wrong creature prompt, or if there's any other issues let me know.

When you sign up, please use this template or something like it:
Name: Email: Fandom: (full name of fandom, not an abbreviation) The creature I want to write:
1) Please choose a creature from the list. If you want, I can also choose a creature for you.
You only need to include your fandom so I can have an idea of what fandoms are represented and to help set up the Master List. Please give the full name of your fandom, not an abbreviation. If your prompts inspire you to write for a different fandom than the one you signed up for, that isn't a problem.
2) On September 17th, I will send you two artwork prompts. Those prompts will be artwork that is strange, surreal and hopefully scary! You will then have three prompts-- the monster prompt that you chose, plus the two artwork prompts that I will send. You only have to use one prompt in your story, but if you manage to fit all three, I'll be pretty darned impressed!
3) My preference is for stories that are spooky, scary, chilling or even gruesome. But if you decide to write action/adventure, a humorous story, or something else altogether, I'll be perfectly happy with that. Just as long as your story includes one of your prompts.
4) The Master List will be posted on October 26th. In the comments of the Master List, give your name, fandom and a link to your story. You may post your story anywhere: a web page, your LJ or DW, an archive etc. But do not post your story here.
5) There will be absolutely no consequences if you can't get your story in by the deadline. In other words, I won't show up on your doorstep wielding a chainsaw. Your story will end up on the Master List eventually, no matter how late it is. I'll be around for a couple of days after the deadline, so your story will be added fairly quickly.
This ficathon is as low pressure as I can make it. Please do not feel guilty if you sign up and realize that you can't write a story. If writing for this ficathon isn't fun for you, then please stop.
6) Real People slash/fiction is allowed.
7) Warnings are up to the discretion of the writer. This is a horror themed challenge, so participate at your own risk.
8) Last, please check your spam filters. I don't mind resending prompts, but please, check your spam folders first. If you have any problems at all, contact me at ausar @ netdoor.com.
9) There is no minimum or maximum word counts. Drabbles and ficlets are fine. Monster epics are great too! But please make sure the story is complete.
10) I'm okay with sending multiple prompts, just list the monsters and fandoms you want them for.
You don't need to have an LJ or DW account as long as you send me an email with your sign up information to ausar @ netdoor DOT com.
Feel free to promote the challenge everywhere that it is allowed.
'Tis the season for spookiness... Peruse at your own risk!
Thank you to Trillingstar for finding some of the links!
Short Films:
The 3:07 Project - The devil's hour, which takes place at 3:07 AM, is the most haunted time of the day. VICE and The Conjuring selected four directors to create short horror films inspired by that idea. Each one is distinctly twisted and scary.
Bus Stop - A Short Horror Film - A chilling short horror film about two young strangers waiting for the bus and getting entangled in the mysterious and terrifying circumstances around the bus stop. Written & Directed by Zora Cielle Anri.
The Chair - After Reese (Anthony Pavone) brings home an antique chair, a series of horrific events follow, leading him to question if it's a malevolent spirit the chair possesses or the darkness inside his own mind. Directed by Curry Barker.
Grampy - A grief-stricken woman dates a similarly mourning man, only to discover that he keeps the stuffed corpse of his late grandfather taxidermy-style in the bedroom of his remote farmhouse where she is now trapped by a storm and forced to spend one terrifying night with “Grampy.” Blue Dog Films.
No Through Road - On December 17th 2008 four 17 year old boys were found dead in their car at an abandoned farm, 10 miles from their hometown. This video contains the unedited footage from the camera belonging to one of the boys, also found in the car. (Very disturbing!)
PASSERBY - After a pair of hikers get spooked by an unsettling character they meet along the trail, a thick fog settles in with a twist that makes them realize things aren't what they seem. Directed by Sarah Parrish
The Ghost At the Table - Julie (Roxy Striar) discovers one night she's being haunted. But why? What does this ghost want? And will it pay its share of rent? Written & Directed by Cameron Rice.
TROLL BRIDGE - Cohen the Barbarian was angry. Angry that he never died in battle, angry that the world had forgotten him, and angry that his knees were starting to play up in the cold. TROLL BRIDGE is a love-letter to Terry Pratchett and Discworld. It exists because an awful lot of people thought it ought to. (Included because I thought it was funny!)
Unedited Footage of a Bear - This is unedited raw footage of a bear I filmed with my cell phone. I'm not sure what kind of bear this is. Adult Swim.
YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE BODIES IN THE WATER - SCP-2316 is a body of water within which anomalous sensory phenomena manifest. On their return from Grace’s sister’s funeral, Grace and her ex-boyfriend make a ‘quick' stop at a lake area from her childhood where they encounter SCP-2316. Director / Camera / Editor / Writer: Ryan Leshock.
Short Animated Films:

Dungeon Flippers - Pilot: The Ace of Wands. A fantasy real-estate show! In this pilot episode, Maulie and Cleaveland must find a new home for the wicked wizard, the Ace of Wands. Will they complete their quest, or does this house-hunt spell doom for the Dungeon Flippers? (There is only the Pilot so far.)
Forlorn - A mercenary treasure hunter who breaks into an ancient city, and encounters something she did not expect. Created by: Alex St. Pierre, Music by: Toft Willingham.
Lands of Steel - A CGI-animated short film about genocide through the eyes of a mindless robot, set in an apocalyptic world. Directed by Cyril Vrancken.

The Curse of Dracular - Claymation short film by Jack Paterson. The Curse of Dracular is a claymation film I produced for my final year of University, based on a story my Dad wrote when he was a child (around nine years old).
The Man From The Sea - Cosmic horror short story inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. Written and directed by: Foghorn Prd.
Under The Thicket Beautiful animated film about a ghost. By Caleb Worcester.
Cry Little Sister - Lyric Noel - This is the official music video for the single Cry Little Sister, from Lyric Noel's 2024 Halloween EP entitled, "Hallows Eve Volume 1"
My Name is Lillian Madwhip - LittleBallofGiggles brings life to William Dalphin's nosleep of a young girl; that doesn't see the world the same as you and me.
The Sprouting - Enter the gripping world of “The Sprouting,” where survival intertwines with botanical horrors in a post-apocalyptic setting. Experience the journey of our players as they navigate through physical and psychological challenges, unravelling a thrilling narrative with each episode. (Actual Play Podcast)
How to be a Mind Reaver - Web Comic - Cthu lives in a dungeon alone near a dark forest, known as “Mind Reaver”. He is full of knowledge, adept at mind control, and has many strong tentacles. He is very annoyed that humans are always breaking into his dungeon. One day, Cthu meets a little girl, Luna, who seems to be abandoned in the dungeon… And that’s where the story begins.
