Destiny
Sage
Fatale
Lifeguard
Psylocke
Copycat
The Scarlet Witch
--> Currently, Mystique is being used for plot purposes. After which, she (complete with her journal which includes user pics and history) will be available if someone wants to play her. Application, however, would require a guarantee to post regularly as someone has put in the time to set up the journal and establish the character already. Contact xweathergoddess if you would like to apply for her.
--> Jean Grey-Summers is also being temped. Her journal, ashesonthepyre, is available upon request and application. You are also welcome to her icons and profile unless you have a different one you wish to play.
Note re: Missions. Ok, I erased most of this info, 'cause we seem to have gotten over the hump of "How the hell do we run missions?!?!" But I'm leaving the mission profile info on here in case of future need:
Location: "Where are we going, Professor?" Mission Objective: Rescue whoever from whoever else, Save the World, etc. Mission Style: Organized Assault, Panicked Defense, etc - this'll set the tone for you all so you can write your parts in the same theme. X-Team: (I will usually include 4 characters, PC and/or NPC) Roles: - Leader: "Who's in charge, Professor?" - Point: the person who's going to get the job done (rescue whoever, get the files we need, whatever!). If the point fails, the Leader takes over. - Two back-up X-Men: these guys will keep the baddies busy while the Point-man or woman gets the job done, or keep the jet's engines running, etc.
WANNA JOIN UP? READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING: It's important! *grin*
The Rundown: This RPG is meant for anyone with an interest in the X-Men: you do not have to own the comic books or even have seen the movies to play. Just have a general knowledge about the X-Men, and you'll do fine. Please note, however, that this RPG is for adult characters only (i.e.: staff of the mansion, X-Men, refugee mutants living at the mansion, etc.). It may get a bit racy at times so no characters under 19, please.
*BEFORE YOU APPLY check that your mutant's powers ARE NOT the same as another playing character! A little overlap is ok, but we would like not to have two people with the same ability. That also means no stealing the powers of established NPCs (no, you cannot control weather like Storm unless you are Storm! But you can control, say, water and therefore make it rain. You've got to modify a little). You can play more than one character, but at least ONE OF THEM should be a CANON CHARACTER! It can be a secondary character, but it's gotta be CANON.
The base of operations for the game is Xavier's School for Gifted Children in New York. It will take place somewhere shortly after the movies, but note: </i>as far as playing characters go NOTHING that has happened in the movies, comics or TV shows counts here.</i> Consider this an AU for the X-men where anything can happen. Mystique doesn't have to be Nightcrawler's mother; Syrin and Pete Wisdom don't have to be lovers; etc. It's up to you. </i>Nothing that has happened in the past is set in stone unless you specifiy it in your character's bio or it is currrently being played out</i>. If you've got ideas for past connections with others, you have to make it known to them that you want to play it that way (unless they're NPC, of course). NPCs will be played as close to the comics/movies as possible, unless or until someone claims the character. If you love your character but they were always a bad-guy in the comics, and you want to be an X-Man? *poof* Here you're a good-guy.
You do not have to be a character from the series; if you want, you can make up your own character, or you can choose a secondary character and develop him/her. The "UXN" fansite is a great website for info on all X-Men characters and general ideas for your own character. But please remember that, if you want to play more than one person, you have to take on ONE canon character.
But note: unless you are one of the established characters (I.E. Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, etc) you will not necessarily AUTOMATICALLY be an X-Man. The moderator will decide whether you are ready, in need of training, or not eligible. Joining the game: Submit the following to the moderator:
Character's name(s) (real, nicknames, codename, alias, anything relevant): Appearance (eyes, hair, height, weight, visible mutations, anything relevant): Personality: History (no novels, please, just a basic sketch): Mutation/powers: REMEMBER: make sure you don't have the same powers as anyone else! Your personal interpretation of the character (how you'd play them, how they'd interact with established characters - no mere "cut and paste" from an X-Men website, please): Optional - One possible idea for a story line or a short dialogue (to show character interaction):
It will be helpful to others if you would create a journal for your character. That way, when new people join or current players want to brush up on what makes you tick, they can check your user info (you'll have to put a short bio of your character in there -- please make it useful!). If you absolutely DO NOT want to create a new journal, please be sure to have an appropriate icon for your character plus a page/entry with your character's profile. This is an excellent site for cute avatar icons, and there's also xmen_icons. If you don't want to copy the profile information out twice, you can put it in your character's bio and e-mail the mod when it's available. The mod may ask you to change certain aspects of your character to fit the game.
NOTE: As of now, the mods will be "playing" Professor X. If you wish to be him, please make a good case for it in your e-mail/bio. Otherwise, Professor X will have little involvement in the game - for now. He'll pop up to move things along when the story gets stuck or to plan missions, but that's about all. If you're DYING for some action, and you've got a mission you want to go on, just add a "conversation" with Prof. X into your post.
Example: "Gosh, Professor; Little Susie Jones is missing! I think Magneto has her!"
"You're right... Well, I'll get the team together."
You've got to leave it open, though, so the mods can put up a mission plan. Some other rule-type things:
The moderators reserve the right to ask you to modify your post (if it doesn't fit the story), or to delete it outright. If you are posting inappropriately, you may be blocked from the game.
This RPG will operate on a POST-BY-POST basis. This means that the story will move fluidly from post to post, not in the comments. Comments are reserved for out of character discussion (which can also happen in so_uncanny_ooc) or questions and dialogue between characters that is not necessarily relevant to others.
Slash/Het/Shipping is not the basis for the game... but hey, we like it! Here are a few points on sexual content: You can make your character gay, straight or bi, but you cannot change the sexual orientation of another playing character without consent. Sexual scenes require an LJ cut that includes a warning ("This is NC-17", "XXX bits!" or whatever). Please do not create non-playing characters just to have sex with - they must have other viable reasons for being there. (Please see rule number one).
You must update on a character's major developments in your bio or mention it in a post (out of character posts go in so_uncanny_ooc). If your character loses an arm, post about it. If they develop new powers, post about it (but no changing powers because you didn't like the old ones!!!). Let us know what's going on so we can keep the story going. Personal journals are currently being used to log entries and not as actual journals.
YOU CANNOT HURT/KILL/MAKE A MAJOR CHANGE to another playing chacater or major NPC without permission!!! No killing off Iceman cuz he drank the last soda, ok? You can give whomever a black eye or cut lip, but no major injuries, unless you have discussed it before-hand. You can mame or kill off your own character, with approval of the moderators; post your idea in so_uncanny_ooc, and we'll think about it *wink*. (Hey, it's X-Men, they can probably be killed and brought back to life somehow!)
6) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES can you be an all-powerful mutant with no weaknesses. Otherwise, where's the fun?
7) And lastly, NO DOUBLE POSTING! It's best to allow at least TWO other posts before you write again. (We've slacked on this a bit seeing as the game has slowed, but its still nice to wait a little while for others to play as well.)
Ok, if I haven't scared you off yet, let's play!!!
