Welcome to my Letter for the Horror Holidays Exchange 2020. Thank you very much for indulging in my whimsies.

Please find enclosed a list of my Likes, categorised Safe For Work, Not Safe For Work, Maybe, and Do Not Want. While I have added a few prompt ideas for my requests, please do not feel like you HAVE to use them. If you can craft an original idea based on my Likes, go ahead. I’m sure I’ll love it. 💖

💕 Aftermath/Healing from Abuse and Bullying.

💕 Alchemists, Apothecary, and Potion Makers, oh my! See Poison in the Dark section. I find characters with an interest in creating medicines and potions, utilising nature, and generally being witches by heart awesome. Examples, the Medicine Cats from Warrior Cats. Omegis from Mortal Kombat Conquest.

💕 Alternate Universe. Any alternate universes that make for an interesting setting. The Hunger Games? Coffee Shops & Cafés? College/University? Hogwarts? Pokemon Fusion? A crossover from another series? Go nuts.

💕 Battle Couple.

💕 Bed Sharing or Huddling for Warmth. That old trope, self explanatory, but it’s a goody. Maybe there’s only one bed? Maybe they’re out in a freezing place somewhere and it’s a matter of life and death? Either way, MAKE THEM SNUGGLE.

💕 Body Positivity. I love feel good stories about a character learning to love their body. Especially soft bodies.

💕 Cats. Just… cats.

💕 Character Studies. I love stories where you get a glimpse into a character’s personality and psychology, what really makes them tick. It could be a personal struggle, or a decision they make.

💕 Chronic Pain and Disabilities. This might sound strange, but I yearn for stories with disabled characters or characters living with a health condition. Especially characters who are loved, appreciated, not treated out of pity, while still navigating the hardships that come with. Invisible Illnesses are welcome.

💕 Cocktails. In the words of Marge Simpson, “I just think they’re neat.” I love the colours, the preparation that goes into them, and the social element.

💕 Comedy. Sometimes, we all want to laugh (otherwise, we’ll cry.) I love snarky banter, a general light-hearted tone to a story, and even cracky/situations blasting out of control. Crack treated seriously? Go for it. Pun Masters and Gallows Humour is appreciated. Hex, I’ll take Christmas Cracker variety jokes in 2020.

💕 Confessions. See this? When linked with mutual pining? I’m helpless. They can be sober or drunk, as long as the messy feels are there.

💕 Detailed Descriptions of Senses. This is weirdly personal. I love descriptors of sights, colours, sounds, and touch, etc. Maybe it’s mentioning the colour of a sunset as it melts into the horizon? Or background music playing in a car between two people having emotional issues? Love that immersion.

💕 Disasters in Love.

💕 Domesticity. Screams happy families and a happy ever after, and I love it. Anything from two characters having lazy breakfast in bed to movie marathoning while it rains outside is much love. And pets, please.

💕 Dreams and Symbolism. I love the meaning of dreams, especially if they’re very relevant to what a character is experiencing or going through.

💕 Elements. This is the Pagan talking, but I love symbolism of the elements. Your Earth, Fire, Wind, Water kind. We could have a Coven AU, maybe they’re Sailor Scouts, or W.I.T.C.H? Or maybe a character really embodies a certain element?

💕 Engagement. More messy love feels, but with rings.

💕 Everyone (or That One Canon Dead Dude) Lives. Dead characters in canon sucks sometimes, but thanks to the glory of fanfiction, Dead Dudes, Princesses, and Redeemed Villains can Live Again! Maybe events turn out different and death is averted? How does canon proceed from there? What do they get up to? Got to love Canon Divergence when things are sad.

💕 Fake Dating/Marriage. For whatever reason, two characters are pretending to be together or married. Maybe they’re undercover, or trying to help someone hookup? Either way, it’s rarely ever smooth.

💕 First Date. Where are they going? What did they do? Did it go smoothly? And were any of their friends tagging along to spy?

💕 First Kiss. That first big kiss with all the “did they like it?” and the confusing mess of emotions that come with.

💕 Fix-It. Alternative takes on canon content. Maybe it’s a rewrite of something that took place? Or a missing scene completely?

💕 Fluff. The fluffy, cuddly goodness. We’re talking happy endings, hopeful endings, hugging and cuddling, the comfort to the hurt, hand holding, nothing is off the cards here. Overwhelm me with cuteness.

💕 Food (especially as a Metaphor for Love.) Another bulky one that covers a lot of territory. I love food in general being mentioned in stories. It can be intricate, food porn levels of description of food, the cooking and preparations of meals, the enjoyment of eating it. Tropes like comfort food, stress eating and baking, and breakfast in bed work so well here.

💕 Found Family. People who are drawn together by circumstance, and see themselves as family. They care for and love each other, and will defy the heavens for their found family.

💕 Friends to Lovers. The BEST. A relationship already found on trust and friendship for one another.

💕 Gender/Sexuality Headcanons. All are welcome (especially anything in the ace aro spectrum, lesbian and bisexual girlfriends, and characters just discovering who they are.)

💕 Honeymoon. Fluffy, romantic honeymoon shenanigans. Where do they go? What do they do now that they have time together?

💕 Hurt/Comfort. The comfort emphasised more here. Whatever’s happened, they’ve always got love and support from loved ones. Can be matched to pretty much everything here. See Dark Likes for more emphasis on the Hurt.

💕 Insecurities and Self-esteem issues.

💕 Kissing. Self explanatory. I do love first kisses or the kinds of kisses that overwhelm them, leaving them breathless and starry eyed and drawn out. Or a True Love’s First Kiss.

💕 Love Potions, or Truth Serum.

💕 Loyalty and Trust Kink.

💕 Married couples. Who are totally happy and still doing all the same things they did before they got married. The kind that finish each other’s sandwiches and never give up on each other.

💕 Mistletoe. Yes, I mention it in Season, but I’m so weak for it, I had to dedicate a section to it. I love this wintery kissy custom, especially if it’s two mutually pining dorks. 💕

💕 Mutual Pining/UST. Said it before, but I’m a sucker for the messy, confusing feelings that come with love. That uncertainty, the will-they, won’t-they, the antici… pation. I can easily read this over and over again.

💕 Nonsexual Physical Intimacy. Hand holding, the gentlest of touches, being in bed together without sex.

💕 Pet names. Honey always gets me.

💕 Pregnancy. Anything from the discovery, the baby planning, and the late stages. The belly love and worship is loved, especially from a loving, doting partner.

💕 Seasons. There’s a lot to love about the different seasons, so here’s some prompts: the weather and festivals, ice rink, hot drinks, coffee house, bonfires, campfires, camping, parties, decorations, fireplaces, leaves, arts and crafts, coziness, lights, mistletoe, Secret Santa, christmas trees...

💕 Soulmate AU. Anything here, but I’m especially fond of the World of Colour AU.

💕 Trapped. The two unlucky saps are trapped somewhere together. Could be an elevator, a cave, a building during a blizzard, a planet?

💕 Undercover as a Couple.

💕 Video Games and Tabletop Games (characters playing games, referencing them, being nerds, etc.)

💕 Vulnerability.

💕 Weather. Especially if it ties into the mood of a scene or story.

💕 Wedding.

💕 Witchcraft. Like Elements, the Pagan speaketh. Maybe the characters are in a coven? Maybe they’re dealing with a magical curse, or the “magic” of their canon universe? (See Final Fantasy Spells and Status Ailments.) For the record, I freaking LOVE The Craft.

💕 World building. I’m a sucker for world building whether it’s the canon lore of a story, or something unique and in head canon territory. I like the feeling of being immersed, like a description of the settings or the culture of the location.

Dark Likes

🖤 Angst. You know the drill. Something with a darker tone that really sinks into the characters and general vibe of the story. It can be plot driven, a personal character conflict, the works.

🖤 Cassandra Syndrome. Psychic visions, for seeing death and tragic events… how does the character deal with that?

🖤 Dark Fic/Grimdark. Similar to Angst, but sometimes, it’s a ride to watch the world burn. This is much darker content, often with very little to no hope (bittersweet or hopeful endings can still happen then.) Very moody, morose, bleak, and when mixed with other genres like horror, can produce a chilling tale that stays with you long after the story ends. Maybe a Bad Ending AU or a dark take on a canon event?

🖤 Descent Into Madness.

🖤 Dreams and Symbolism. As mentioned before, I love the meaning of dreams. Does a character go through a difficult experience that feeds into their dreams, or perhaps their dreams are bleeding into reality? A Nightmare that they can’t wake up from?

🖤 Grey Area. A big category that covers a lot of ground. It’s when characters, decisions, and even outcomes don’t fall into good or bad. Maybe we’re dealing with a morally grey character? Or possibly good guys facing their shadows or making a difficult decision that challenges everything they know? A Pyrrhic victory?

🖤 Hanahaki. The love curse where the victim coughs up flower petals and faces death if their feelings are unrequited. I can take this either as unrequited or an unknowing mutual pining situation. I love the element of every person having different flower petals and colours that symbolise their feelings? The language of flowers really shines here.

🖤 Horror. The Big Name in Genres. It works fantastically on its own and with other genres. I’m a big fan of psychological horror (mind games, gaslighting, someone feeling trapped,) Folklore Horror (tied heavily in culture and myths, see Fatal Frame games as a perfect example,) Body Horror, and the good old Survival Horror. But I’ll honestly try anything as long as it messes as much with the reader’s perceptions as the characters. Dark elements from canon being utilised is a good win.

🖤 Hurt/comfort. The darker version. This is really challenging the characters (and readers) by putting them through the ringer, but giving them love and support at the end. Maybe they’ve been through a traumatic ordeal that stays with them? They’ve watched someone they love being hurt and really feel that guilt? The bad thoughts that won’t quit? Someone’s always there to lend a hand and a heart.

🖤 Monsters. Yes, Monsters. We’re talking tentacles, canon monsters, especially Monster Boys and Girls. Maybe one or both of the characters are Monsters, like a Naga, Slime/Goo, Fae or an Incubus/Succubus? Selkies? Yokai? Changelings? Vampires? Go as urban folklore as you like. A character is like a catnip to all the supernatural creatures?

🖤 Murder. Okay, this sounds bad, but hear me out. Sometimes, taking a character to a vastly darker territory to the point of them facing death at their hands is… interesting? Like the thought processes, what the person is going through? Was it an accident? Self-defence? A traumatic event they were forced into to survive? Or on the other side of the spectrum, unapologetic about it. Characters like Tohru Adachi in Persona 4 are interesting for this reason. Maybe it’s a murder mystery. A death game. A crime a character must solve. A serial killer. And on that note...

🖤 Poisons. My specialist subject (again, not for the reasons you think.) They’re very interesting. What kind of poison is it? What does it do? How is it used? Examples in stories that were done well were the Lighthouse Paranoia (Battle Royale,) any Agatha Christie novel, or characters that freely use them as a speciality or power of sorts (ex. Himiko from Getbackers, any Poison Pokemon, Alchemists and Apothecary characters.)

🖤 Timeloops. Characters stuck in a never ending time loop. A day that keeps repeating itself, and how that might affect a character. It could be something silly and annoying for the character, but a darker twist might be a character being caught in a death loop where they keep respawning? Perhaps their friends or loved ones are the ones hurt or dying? Or reliving a terrible day in their past? Could be a canon event, or something completely new.

🖤 Torture. Can be combined with noncon and horror. Our poor beloved character ensures great physical/emotional/mental torment, pushed through breaking point. Aftermath of Torture/Hurt and Comfort? Especially juicy if it’s to protect someone they love or their loved ones watch and rescue them.

🖤 Towns. You know, THOSE towns. The ones where something isn’t right, and the townsfolk act strange, most likely harbouring a terrible secret. Juicy when tied with Folk Horror.

🖤 Trauma. Physical, mental, emotional, psychological, the works. Characters that deal with PTSD, Panic attacks, Nightmares and night terrors? An abusive past? Maybe they’re hiding the aftermath effects of their trauma, hoping not to worry others? Or bonding with another traumatised person? Tied with hurt/comfort.

🖤 Unreliable narrators. This is especially grand if the narrator doesn’t know they’re unreliable (like their memories are false, etc,) or they’re purposefully so (to deceive or that they legit believe their waffle.)

🖤 Yandere. Love taken to an obsessive love. A character willing to do whatever it takes to make someone theirs.

NSFW Likes

💖 A/B/O - Alpha/Beta/Omega. Love a bit of world building in this element. Anything from a first heat to unexpected heats to even something unique like two Omegas defying tradition and being together is welcome. Go fluffy with an Omega cuddling into their Alpha’s sweet nest of clothes, and an Alpha being protective and loving to their lover. I’m especially a sucker for characters that are generally labelled as Alphas in Fandom actually being the Omegas (Shiro from VLD, Ignis from FFXV, Hank from DBH,) but I’m happy to read anything.

💖 Aftermath. Anything from the buzzing glow after sweet, tender lovemaking to the morning after to something much darker.

💖 Afterglow.

💖 Altered States. This can be anything from Aphrodisiacs, Sex Pollen, a bit too much of the booze, and drugs to general delirium, maybe they’re out of it with pain or sickness, or hallucinating. Can work well with Dubcon due to intoxication.

💖 Bathing/Washing. Something nice and intimate like two lovers bathing together, maybe one washing the other’s hair or helping them shave that pesky facial fluff? When in doubt, Bath/Shower sex is always A+.

💖 BDSM. I’m up for a lot here, especially if it really nails the trust between partners. A few related ideas I’m down with: Bratty Subs, Dom instructing sub's masturbation, Dom taking the Sub Role (first time being Submissive?,) Inexperienced Dom/Experienced Sub, Service Dominant, Sub doesn't think partner has what it takes to dom them, Submission as stress relief, Submitting as an act of trust, usually Dom or Sub wants to switch, Gentle doms.

💖 Belly Kink. This is a big one. I love general belly love and worship, so pretty much anything goes here.
