The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. 1996 miniseries, and the only adaptation produced besides one in 1968. This was dull. Even Rupert Graves didn't make it less dull. This was everything that people who don't like period drama think period drama is. The parts showing Helen's life with her husband were less dull than the Wildfell Hall parts, but just... everything was so slow and restrained.
The Favourite. I liked this fine, though somehow I had gotten the impression that it was more quirky than it was.
The Essex Serpent. "British gothic romance period drama miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Perry. Widow Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes) moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms a surprising bond of science and skepticism with the local pastor (Tom Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature."
Eh. As you might guess, this is not really about a serpent. There's a lot about superstition and science, medical revolutions and social movements, all anchored by the characters played by Danes and Hiddleston. I really found it kind of skippable. I finished it, but it's not something I'll rewatch.
