Ahoy mateys! Here thar be Harry Potter round robins! What is a round robin, you ask? Well, my lovelies: A round-robin story, or simply "round robin," is a type of collaborative fiction or storytelling in which a number of authors each write chapters of a novel or pieces of a story, in rounds. Round-robin novels were invented in the 19th century, and later became a tradition particularly in science fiction. In modern usage, the term often applies to collaborative fan fiction, particularly on the Internet, though it can also refer to friends or family telling stories at a sleepover, around a campfire, etc. (Thank you Wikipedia!)
In this particular instance, we will be hosting fanfics that are written collaboratively. Each person will contribute a bit (100 words or less) to the story until the story is deemed finished by the majority of participants (or until everyone involved is distracted by shiny objects)
The rules are simple:
If you find that you want to contribute to a public post, jump on in, but first comment with a placeholder--something like, "I got this!"
First come, first served, but if you do not actually comment within a reasonable period--say, two hours--someone can take over the next bit.
Word limit (on individual comments) is 100 words, though I'm not going to count one way or another. The point is not to take over and finish the story.
Show respect to your fellow authors at all times. Do not come over and take a prompt just to sideline the story. Please don't throw in random things that have nothing to do with the story. Say it is a Percy/Angelina or a Harry/Ron. You don't need to jump in just to say that Blaise and Draco are filling out their leather pants nicely and are opening up a wax museum together and that Draco is pregnant. (Unless it reasonably fits in, that is) Please don't use this to bash characters, either.
By your participation, you are agreeing to let go and let the story ride. I don't want to hear how 'so and so ruined the story.' Deal with it, move on to a different story, or work around it. This is supposed to be fun. Side threads are a possibility. I'm game for debate on the subject.
Anybody can start a new story at any time (once the community is open for posting.)
Any HP related story is OK, as long as you provide proper warnings. I'm not going to lecture you on characterization or plot, but I do ask that you take a second look at your entries and spell check before you hit send.
If you like a story, please let the authors know at our watcher community hprrwatchers. We needy writers like to know that someone is reading after all. Please do not comment just to ship bash. It may not be your cup of tea, but I guarantee it is someone else's. If you can't say something nice, (or at least constructive) well, you know the rest...
Pimping the community is always welcome, and membership is open. However (snaps the modly whip) if you are here to start trouble, I will cheerfully ban you.
