You know it's funny. Every day I feel like this list is going to be harder and harder to work on. And I've got 50 down now and am almost half way done and yet every time I sit down to work on this it's like a flood of ideas that I hadn't thought of before.  Some of them are about relieving stress directly (progress) while others are about pampering myself or just enjoying life (reward).  I like the blend and I think both sides to the destressing are equally important.

As someone who adores productivity, if there's one thing I've learned from this list it's to really think about the balance I need in my life.  Being productive is good, but I need to balance that out with doing nice things for me or the stress builds.  Progress can be a stress relief, but if it's all your focusing on and never get that reward?  Then it's just another thing adding to the stress.  And then you end up crashing as I have in the past.

I feel like I've spent too much of my last year or so flip flopping between being Super Productivity Girl and Worthless Couch Potato Girl.  I don't really want to be either. If I could have one focus of 2012 it would be to be the Get the Most Out of Life Girl.  Work Hard. Play Hard. Pamper Often.

I think when I'm done with my list, I'm going to break it down into the two categories (Progress and Reward) so that based on my mood, I can choose which one to focus on. Super exhausted and need a break? Reward!  Super stressed and overwhelmed? Progress.  Hopefully I can balance a healthy amount of both into my week.  I think that's going to be my next set of 21 days after this one. Do at least one Destressor daily and to find balance between the two sides.

Once I'm caught up at work, I'd like to start a MASSIVE decluttering project as one of my 21 days projects. Christian and I are planning on moving into a nicer place with his best friend in the fall, and I want only the things we really use/love/enjoy to make that transition.  In order to make sure that's a reality. There's no time like the present to start. Right now I'm just focusing on one area a week.

This blog ended up being much larger than I expected today. ;)

Day 1 - Stress releasers!
BERJAYA
BERJAYArizmakeup

Okay so I want to start my 30 day goals again and want to start it off with something simple. I want to focus in 2012 on taking better care of myself so instead of focusing on productivity I want to focus on enjoying life more.

First project? Coming up with a substantial list of destressing activities to do. I want to come up with at least 5 pampering activities a day. And keep the list close afterwards. I want to slowly build them into my daily life.

1. Reading a good book for at least 30 minutes
2. jogging/elliptical
3. Going for a walk with Christian
4. Sitting and really enjoying a glass of wine or a beer.
5. Taking a bubble bath
6. Lighting candles

Catching Fire
BERJAYA

Finished the second book in the Hunger Games series last night. It was just as addictive as the first book. I am pretty sure every chapter ends in a cliff hanger because the books are almost impossible to put down.

The subject matter itself is grotesque. It involves a corrupt government sending off select children to fight to the death to keep everyone in line. But the books surprisingly lack the violence this suggests. In fact they read more like an action teen romance book than a bloodfest.

The plot itself is rich with politics and action and rich description on the future world itself, but Katniss, the lead can be a little annoying. Mostly because things that are obvious to the reader tend to be completely oblivious to the naive teens mind. All in all she is strong and resourceful which still makes her a great lead for a teen novel like this one.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 because it exceeds at being endlessly entertaining. And would definitely recommend it.

Still in Training
BERJAYA
BERJAYArizmakeup
It sounds like I may have close to another 2 weeks of training left. That's almost a month of 9-5 information being pounded in my head (well tech 8:30-4:45, but you get the idea). That's not including the time on the side studying the plan documents and work flow for my particular plan (which we've only very briefly talked about in class).

I keep telling people it's just a lot of new information, but I don't think they get just how much. It's not boring at all--THANK GOD! It has allowed me to find the answers to every question I had as a CSR in detail and helped me understand why we're not taught so many things. Cause just about everything I've learned can vary completely from plan to plan and client to client.

Of my class, I'm the least experienced person moving into the Disability Specialist position. Everyone else has either done it before or worked with claims in another form (such as worker's comp, social security, etc). My biggest in is that I understand the company, but I still want to prove that I deserved my promotion despite only being with the company for 6 months. Because of that most nights and every weekend, I've been skimming at first and now going through with a fine tooth comb everything regarding my plan.

I thought I'd be more nervous at this stage, but I'm really not. I'm just really excited. Next week we get to start systems training. Right now we've been talking all about theory and now we get to talk about the application of all that theory. How we do our jobs instead of just the what and why behind it all. We also get more time job shadowing.

I feel like it's slowly seeping in now and coming all together in my head. Especially during job shadowing I can feel all these ideas coming from all over and parts of our plan coming up and I'm suddenly excited about how much I've learned. We did some claim scenarios, too, which was fun. Putting together all the little pieces and figuring out what the next steps are. Really gave me the confidence I needed to believe in myself. :)

I think one of the things I'm most excited about is learning so much about every illness and injury under the sun. There is ongoing training monthly where they touch on a new medical item in detail, which is so cool, but also just handling all these different claims will get me in touch with a bit of everything on it's own. Learning so much about treatment plans and healing duration times, etc is going to be awesome as a writer. Knowing various paths an illness can take? Priceless.

I know it's supposed to suck that I'm not making a living creatively right now, but I LOVE my job. I LOVE having stable pay. And I love that I'm still doing creative things (i.e. writing) on the side. I know I'll probably always be making side pay off writing or makeup my entire life, because it's something that I need to do as a person. It's all part of God's plan for me in the end. And I feel really good about helping people at some of the worst parts of their life, afford to be out of work when they are incapable of working.

Ugh, sorry this post has got to be one of the most boring every since it's almost completely work related. Basically, I'm really happy with my promotion, but I have no life right now outside of work until I settle in to my new position.
