"It would appear that we need to dream as much as we need to sleep. It is possible to stop people from dreaming by waking them up every time they start. But it becomes increasingly difficult to do this unless we deprive them of all sleep. People who are selectively deprived of sleep will increasingly go into REM sleep ("rapid eye movement," associated with dreaming) when allowed to sleep. This is called "REM rebound." Generally, we try to make up any REM time we lose."
-from Get a Grip on Dreams by Maeve Ennis & Jennifer Parker

This is a community for the discussion of dreams and sleep. It's a place to share our dreams, as well as take some in depth looks at the psychology of the mind involving the state of dreaming.

The Rules:
•All theories and beliefs on dreaming are welcome here. Do not criticize someone if they view the state of dreaming differently than you.
Use lj-cuts for longer posts.
•All types of dreams can be posted here. However, should the content be questionable or vulgar, use an lj-cut and put up a warning.
•The only person who can truly interpret a dream is the dreamer themselves. So, while insight is recommended, do not try to tell people the meaning of their dreams.
No arguing or fighting.
•When you first join, please post an entry introducing yourself and explaining why you are interested in dreams.

Sweet dreams!
