I wanted to take a few moments to recognize today, the fortieth anniversary of Woodstock(Lord, I’m getting old). I wanted to go and I was the right age, just two months shy of my twentieth birthday(which should make it easy to figure my current age, dammit).

I didn’t have the confidence to take off that far alone back then though. No one else I knew thought it was going to be much of a deal. Probably a good thing I didn’t try, what with the massive crowds(ten times the estimates projected) of 500,000 and all the logistical problems that entailed.
I do remember the concert film when it was released. It spent the whole summer at one theater chain in a nearby town. I probably saw it a half dozen times that summer. Sly and The Family Stone’s ten minute section was almost worth the price of admission alone.
