Community Profile

This is a discussion and resource community for queer parents (present, future, hopeful) and their support network!

You don't have to identify as queer or be a parent to participate in discussions here, but please observe the focus of the group is on queer parenting. Alternative parenting structures (including poly families) and progressive parenting that is queer-inclusive are within the scope of these discussions. As a community we can decide on specific commenting and posting guidelines and will update the profile post and make an announcement of any changes if necessary. Please contact a mod (start with were_duck) if you have any concerns about another member's comments or posts.

We ask that you warn for and place under cuts the following subjects if you post about them. These topics are parts of many of our experiences as queer parents and thus are welcome in this community, but we ask for warnings so that members can make informed decisions about which posts to read or engage with on sensitive subjects:
Abuse (sexual, emotional, and physical, and please note whether the topic is child or adult abuse)
Birth Loss & Miscarriage
Child Death
Homophobia and queerphobia
Infertility
Suicide, self-harm or suicidal ideation (again, please note whether post refers to adult or child)

When in doubt, please use a cut tag and description of the post's contents. When posting a comment that needs a warning, please put the warning in the comment's subject line.
