Second Chances

The author has labeled this a series, but it feels to me like chapters in one story. The stories do not stand alone.
And it is a WIP, so yes, I'm reccing another fucking WIP. My life, IDEK.
This is a wonderful story which is very well plotted and has some elements I have never seen before in any HR story. Really nice characterizations of Shane and Ilya. David and Yuna are nowhere to be found in this story, which seems a little weird, but they are only notable in their absence after you stop reading.
Ilya is as we see him in the canon, without some of the notable plot points, however.
Shane has to stop playing after a massive concussion early in his career, and he becomes an assistant coach!
Their story has a totally different trajectory than anything else I have read in this fandom that is not a straight-up AU. This one is a little overwritten, but it's riveting and I loved every bit of it so far. Can't wait for more!
Thanks to
dine for the rec.
