A community for the serious discussion of poetry.

This community is for the discussion of:
--technical elements of poetry (phanopoeia, melopoeia, logopoiea, rhythm, meter, etc)
--theories, essays, musings (thoughtful and considered) regarding poetry, both your own and that of others
--various forms of poetry; the effect form has on a work; the relationship between form and content
--the creative process
--identity as a poet

Good stuff like that.

The following are not what this community is for (as there are plenty of existing communities where that is welcome):
--posting your own poetry
--asking for critiques of your own poetry
--asking for advice re: writing, publication, etc.

Posting your own work, asking for critiques, etc. might be acceptable if it's couched in the context of some larger issue or question or discussion. The *issue* should be the point of the post, not the poem, although the poem could serve as a jumping-off point or example. Run it by me first. :)

About the maintainer: I (BERJAYAnonamouse) am a poet, and a "fan" of poetry, as you could probably guess. I'm biased towards formal verse; it's my favorite form to write and my favorite form to read. Favorite poets (and probable influences) include Auden, Hopkins, Roethke and Yeats. I've had the fortune to take a few classes with some incredible professors and equally incredible fellow-students. So I know it's possible and worthwhile to have in-depth, intelligent, and well-considered discussions about poetry.

The community info will be updated periodically. At the moment, I expect the vast majority of posts to come from me, i.e. the maintainer.
