Hello Everyone! I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I don't believe that I subscribed to other_voices, but I was very active in the penpal community throughout high school & actually still swap today. I found this group via the Facebook group, and I was quite surprised that a few people actually were looking for me there.
Back in the day, I went by the pen name Rabid Child (after the TMBG song) and lived in Oakdale, NY. I recognize quite a few of your names, but I must admit that my memory is fuzzy! I've been penpalling since 1989-1990, and have met quite a few people along the way.
So, Hopefully I'll stumble upon some old friends!! Nice to meet you all :)

wow.
so, my name is kat, i'm about to turn 35, and i was a mad penfriender from 1987-1995ish. for the entirety of my penpalling, i went by my middle name mary. since i am old, and somewhat decrepit, i have the most terrible time remembering all the people i wrote to....
ahhhh....
i used to use the back pages of smash/star hits and the lovely other voices.

Well, I went to my parents' house today and managed to find the box that had my Other Voices issues! I could have sworn I had more than these, but I guess not. I have issues 26-32. So far I've scanned the addy pages from 26, but I won't be able to finish the rest tonite before bed. (Damn work!)
Just wanted to let you guys know what I had, and that I'll post the pics soon! :)

My name's Elisabeth, I'm 32 years old, and I live in Dixon, Illinois. From approximately 1989-1995 I had many pen pals (including several from Curefriends), and I would love to hear from any of them. Unfortunately, I seem to have a severe case of "Thirtysomething Alzheimer's" because I can't really recall any of my old pen-names or most of the names of people that I wrote to (I most often went by my nickname Elis, though).
However, I did recognize the name Hyacinthe Raven in the community user info and remembered that we used to write, so I think there's a good chance I would remember someone as soon as I saw their name. ^^;
A few of the names I do remember are Marian Mercy (possibly from Massachusetts), Claudine from New Orleans, Brandi Lucero from California (she was my first-ever Curefriends pal!), Michelle from Oregon (who actually came to visit with a friend of hers), Skye from Texas (I think?), Alicia in New Mexico or Arizona, and Holly from Michigan. That is really just the tip of the iceberg. I wish my memory wasn't so bad. :(
Anyway, if anyone remembers writing to me, or thinks we may have written, please get in touch with me. I'm sorry I can't remember more details from back then, but honestly...how many people were doing the pen-pal/fb/tape-trading thing in Dixon, IL back then? I'm thinking not too many, so if you remember writing someone in Dixon during that time period, it was very likely me. ^^;

Hi all! I've been away from lj for a LONG time since i joined this community.
So i'll dare be indulgent and ask....Did anyone write to me back in "the day" (early to mid 90's)..
I used the name Despair, Birdmad girl but more consistantly Autumn Rain.... (from brampton/toronto ON Canada)
there are a few lovely souls in particular i'd love to reconnect with, even just to say hello!

Once upon a time I was one of those 'sad' teenagers, who spent most of my time looked up in a bedroom scribbling letters, poems and stories.
Now, in the age of IT, I miss the touch of paper somehow and if there is anyone who feels the same I would be happy to exchange letters and possibly mixed cds/tapes too.
I'm a 26-year-old Curefan, into indie and goth, who also likes drama (acting/writing/directing), travelling and lots more.
