Jeeze, do you ladies ever post?

In three hours, I get to fly to Seattle see my husband before he ships off to the sandbox. He's been doing training (he's in the guard) for two months, and I've not seen him for a whole month. I'm nervous to see him, and more nervous to say goodbye one last time. Plus, I'm sick as a dog and I can't wait to have a coughing fit and blow snot all over him in the heat of the moment. SEXY

Our FRG lady just sent me this link:

http://www.oplove.org/

"Operation Love Reunited is a photography organization offering free photography sessions to deploying, deployed, and reuniting military families. Each family gets 2 free sessions, whether it be one before deployment with their military member, during deployment of homefront spouse and children, and a homecoming session or post-deployment session. The photographers have agreed to send albums to deployed military members at no cost. The photographers have to meet strict requirements to be accepted.

Their website, www.Oplove.org, is designed to help families find photographers using the military member's zip code."

What it means to you, is a free photoshoot. What it means to me, is that I should probably sign up and help, because I'm a professional photographer.

Aug. 28th, 2008 @ 11:49 pm Quick question

I'm prior service (Army AD) and my husband is currently AD Army (an E6 if it makes a difference). We've been thinking about me going back in the military, only I'd go in the Air Force Reserve, so I don't have to repeat Basic Training and I can get the college money I kind of got screwed out of the first time. My question is this, if anyone can answer it: Since he's active duty, there's a chance of him getting orders to go overseas. If I'm a reservist, would I be able to go with him, or would I be stuck here in the states while he's over there?

Thanks in advance for any advice. :)

I'm not quite sure when he'll be leaving the sand box but based on when he'll be stateside I have a guess. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss my babe so much and this deployment has royaly SUCKED!!!! And it's going to be so good to have him back stateside even if I won't get to see him until about 2 weeks after he gets back. AT LEAST HE"LL BE BACK!!!!!!!! And then things can get back to normal again.

Don't live there.
I know that it is easier to live on base, especially in MD and DC, but the hassle of leaving made me want to tear out my hair and kick someone.
I was given the list of all the things that I had to do before I moved out. No problem, we patched all of the holes from the pictures, did a good job cleaning (I cleaned Mil housing for a while so I know what they want and what they make the families do to move out) and made sure the lawn was fresh cut and raked. Well, this was the worst move out EVER!!!
I had to pay for a special carpet cleaning, before they would do the out processing, due to the fact I have a pet. So $200 for that. No problem, I expected the rest of the month's rent back, so what it $200 for the $1,000 I should get back. nope. They decided that they would change their contractors so everyone that used their old list had to pay them to clean the carpets (this is the 4th contractor list that I know of since November). And my cleaning wasn't right cause I have a kid, so they charged me $325 for a 'child clean up fee'. And $350 for the carpets (because the carpet life is 10 years and they have 7.5 years left and there were marks that neither of the carpet cleaners could get up). Then they went on and on about how I was a horrible house cleaner and since I didn't change the light bulb at the top of the landing that would be $7... for a light bulb that is 10 feet high. Ok... Then the lady went on and on about how wonderful their company is and they are just great and almost nobody has to pay to move out... that is because everyone that I know that has moved out of housing has lost their entire rest of the months $$$. I know 9 people to move out and all got less than $100 back... One guy I know had to pay almost $2,000 because they decided that he needed to replace all of his carpet and he left on the 2nd, so they got loads out of him. (I am getting a whopping $4.35 after they tacked on all of the cleaning and maint fees)
The housing people (never known for their niceness at any base I have ever been to) are mean, nasty and just plain RUDE. I understand that they would rather deal with the military member, but as we all know, PCS-ing means that the whole family needs to chip in and do what we can to make it as easy as possible. But these guys were rude and unhelpful EVERYTIME I had a problem or needed something done.
A nice example- I had a pipe burst. The maint guy spent 30 minutes telling me how it was all my fault that the pipe burst and I did it on purpose and I would have to pay for it. HUH??? I didn't even know there was a pipe there until water started to rush through the wall. So instead of turning off the water, he spent his time telling me how I was 'abusing' the 'kindness' of the maint people and making them fix my mistakes. OOOOKKKK... there are so many more examples that I have.
I made a complaint but I wanted to pass it on. Stay out of Andrews family housing unless you can't get anything else. Live on Fort Meade or drive from Anne Arundal county.

Apr. 28th, 2008 @ 11:23 am After the PCS
When we got our household goods the movers told us that they didn't have the right paperwork. My deadline for submitting my list of damaged items is coming up fast and I'm lost.
Who do I need to talk to about getting the right forms (I'm assuming forms are used).
Exactly how many days do I have to report this? It's 75 right?
Any tips for me?
It's the Army if that matters.
