As I walked up the drive way I could see the the curtains were screen printed with a design of different cuts of meat.'Floating' cuts of meat fresh from the butcher bleeding through drab,cotton off white curtains- thin and ghostly.The trim of the victorian home was red as was the door.How ummm quaint, the curtains and the trim matched.I started to hesitate..I wasn't even sure why I was walking up this walkway- to this home.I was only aware that I was walking up to this house from the moment the dream began.
I didn't have to knock.I could see in to the entry by a small pane window in the shape of a eye.A man, an older man with a cane was limping his way to the door.He looked frail and worn down- enough that I thought there should be no reason or doubt in my head.I need not be afraid of a man who was limping with a cane! But I was. I was frightened of him and his meat curtains print.. But he spied me through the eye shaped window...So I waited.
I waited and waited ..
I looked down at the porch and then looked into the window,it seemed as though he was in stop motion..I would look down then back in to the window-it hardly looked as if he moved..was he?
Was he moving..I couldn't gauge but I knew he was there and I felt terribly awkward..it was getting dark I didn't know why I was waiting anymore-The man was not making any progress.

So I turned and walked away.
AS I was walking. I felt bad sickened with regret. It probably was quite painful for him to get up and move to the door...He didn't know why I was at his door(at least I thought this)and I really had no idea why I was there.

Was I being overly sensitive.If I walked back and looked would he still be there.Was he alone.I hated myself for having all these lingering thoughts.Thoughts I had no answers for -thoughts I didn't want to wait around for answers for.
And then I woke up
sigh.
