Oh my god, this has to be the worst year ever. Its even worse than 2003. Man I wish 2005 never ended. This year it seems like every race is worse than the last one. Like Martinsville last week. I mean that race barely got started and I have brake problems. Than I have to spend the whole race trying to stay out of everybody's way. Gah, I can't wait until this years over. Sorry for not checking in earlier, but as I said this years been hell. I hope everybody's doing well.

Well that sure was a good time up at Richmond. I can't say I liked all that waiting during the Busch race, but I am glad we got the race in so we didn't have to come back on Sunday. We don't get too many days off. But man on Saturday, I had the best car, and I was all set to lead all the laps and win the race, but ofcourse there came the bad luck again. My teammate Carl got hit by Clint Bowyer as he was attempted to make a pit stop and spun out. That brought out a caution and unfortunately for me I had just made a green flag pitstop. So on the restart I stared in front of the leaders and tryed to stay on the lead lap. The middle part of the race was real tough and I thought the bad luck had ended our night again. But near the end all them cautions came out, and I got the lucky dog, and fresh tires and charged my way back up into the top 5. I know I would have won had there been a green white checkered. Anyway it still felt like a win to me, seeing how it was my first top 5 of the season. I really hope to get a win at Darlington, seeing as I'm the defending winner. I hope this bad luck is behind us.

Hey, y'all! So how have all you cats been doing? I've missed y'all... well, some folks, at least.
As some of y'all know, Bill Davis and I have put in a bid for the #77 team's owner's points. They've closed their shop, and the #55 Napa Domino's Coca-Cola Best Western Sofa Express CAT Remington Dodge could use those points to begin 2006. When I arrived at the track yesterday for testing though, I heard that other folks are making bids on those points too. Okay, y'all, who is it? Tell me what I need to do to make those points mine.

I am still really excited about getting my highest finish of the year! When am I not excited?! But 4th is really great. I love running those Penske chassis. We didn't get one until Homestead, and that one was Ryan's from last year which was a nice one. We got a new chassis for the Kansas race where I am running a Wizard of Oz paint scheme, but Kvapil crashed it in testing, so we have to use the backup.
On a good note, we signed Steve for another year with Orleans! My father was at the truck race in California. He is happy with how things are going. Steve does a great job. Now if only other people wouldn't hit him!
My fan club also just started up. It's going to be great! There are some very interesting things in the kit that reflect Vegas!
And to those of you who think my hair is getting too long, I can't cut it until Thanksgiving! With the exception of one time in college, only one person has cut my hair since I was 4. And Flo does a great job!
I guess that's it for now. See you in Kansas!

Ok so Loudon is just the worst race track they have. I don't know what Robby's problem was today. He took me and Kevin three wide into that corner and I was just accelerating off the corner and he just didn't get off the corner as fast as I did. I certainly didn't get into him on purpose. But ofcourse he thinks I did, so he needs to get revenge. He sure picked a dumb place to do it though. He ended both our chances for good finishes with nascar holding him for two laps, and also not letting him get the lucky dog award. He also ended the chance for Jeremy and Tony to have good finishes and they need all the points they can get, being they are in the chase. I guess I should have stayed out on that competition caution, then I wouldn't have been back there with him. Congrats to Kasey on his top five! and I'm sorry you didn't make the chase buddy. Your an awesome driver, and your light years ahead of those other rookies. You may make the stage twice for ROTY and 11th place! Well I will see everybody in Dover. I think I like the banked tracks better than the flat ones.

It was a great night for us in richmond.Even though I misunderstood what Jimmy said but at least we made the top 10 in points. The car that we raced last week was the sister car to the one that we won New Hamshire.Which is the one that we are racing this week.I'll see you all in Loudon. ~Kurt

We had a great day at michigan after the spin I thought we would of had a Top 5 car with the Superman paint scheme if it wasn't for the spin. But were back at Bristol, the place of my first win. Hopefully, We can get four in a row there. Also watch, Kyle in the busch race as he tries to win 3 races in a row.

Wow, I haven't posted in here in forever. I've been spending most of my time contemplating suicide after my 3 DNF streak; haha just kidding. Hopefully this weekend at Bristol, we can turn the luck of the Lowe's team around and get a good run. I usually have pretty good luck at Bristol, so hopefully we can have a good night in the points and maybe get the points lead back. We just need to end this DNF streak.

This race started pretty good..I started in the 8th position...but I didn't run in the top 10 very much of the day..my car wasn't handling too great so I seemed to always be running between 20th and 25th...but in the end I guess it all worked out..I flew past the checkered flag in 7th position..I am happy with that..as much as i hate to say it Mark Martin havin a flat tire at the end really helped me out..i moved up one spot in the standings which puts me in 14th place 109 points out of 10th place...hopefully my team and i can improve and get in the top ten for the final 10 races..thats all i have to say for now..later

Hey I haven't been around in long long time, but with the Cup and Busch double duty, I have just been real real busy with the flying across the country to run both races on a given weekend. Now I have the time because June and July are over and they were the two busiest months. Last week was the most awesome week ever for me. Winning the Busch race in Pikes Peak was just so cool. I had that set of tires left and I didn't think a caution would come out to let us put them on. But it did and I was like, "yay we got this race in the bag". So me and Stacy Compton got our fresh tires and came up through the field like gangbusters. I don't know what happened there with Kyle Busch. He just cut dead left like he was trying to wreck me right off the track. He had alot of room to pass any other cars that were in his way, instead he chooses to go where I already am. Its a good thing that I just barely clipped him, so it didn't damage my car any. The next day my momentum continued as I walked out of Pocono with a four place finish. I finally had a weekend with absolutely no problems at all. No engines blown, no strange mechanical failures, no pit road problems, and not getting into any on track situations with any body.
This week was nice to. I can't say that I am as happy as I was last week, but I still am pleased with the week. I got a top 5 in the Busch race at IRP, and I almost got a top 5 at the Brickyard, where I ended up 6th. Again another weekend free of any strange problems. If we can keep this up, we might make top 15 in Nextel Cup. I don't think we can make top 10 this year, but we should be good to go next year.
I also want to say hi to Kasey my good friend and fellow Washington State native for his awesome rebound in today's race. Good Job Buddy!

Hi, y'all! Just wanted to remind everyone that you get $5 off at Domino's today! I finished 10th yesterday, and any time I finish a Nextel Cup race in the top 10, you get that discount off your pizza if you just ask for the Waltrip Family Special. So go order yourselves some pizza for dinner tonight! For those of you with kids, it'll make them happy!
What a busy, busy weekend! But it was fun! I got to spend some time back home in Kentucky, racing in the Busch Series. The racing itself didn't turn out to be too fun. Travis Geisler and Buckshot Jones got together right in front of me, and their debris blew a hole through the nose of the Aaron's Dream Machine. Buckshot's a good friend of mine. He's raced my #100 Cup Series car a time or two. He's a smart man, and I hated to see that happen to him. I am so glad that he's okay after inhaling so much smoke. I hope he has a speedy recovery, and gets to spend some time relaxing at home.
Because I was in Kentucky, I had to miss the Father's Day activities that MRO had planned back in Michigan. Poor Macy wanted to participate so badly on Saturday, so I asked Brendan Gaughan if he would play substitute father. Brendan's great with kids! He's got several nieces and nephews that he likes to play around with. So he stepped in. Macy was so excited! She told me all about it! It was a great time for her! MRO does so much for the NASCAR community, and we're so fortunate to have them.
As I already said, the Cup race went well with the NAPA Auto Parts Chevy coming in 10th. That's the kind of momentum we need, and I can't wait for next week's race! Road courses are so much different from what we normally run. I'm up for the challenge.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there! Enjoy the week, and I'll see you at the races!

Y'all, I'm going home this weekend - back to good ol' Kentucky for some Busch Series racing in my Aaron's Dream Machine! I won a track championship down the road at Kentucky Motor Speedway back in the day, when I was around Kasey Kahne or Brian Vickers' age. This track's pretty cool too. It ain't far from Owensboro, where I grew up and where my mama still lives to this day. I like giving Buffs a tour of the place every time we go up there, even though she knows everything I'll say by heart, and could probably give me the tour herself. I am just so jacked up to be going home! I tested at Kentucky not too long ago, and you know, every time I go home, I am amazed by how blessed I have been to do what I do today. And it's always fun going back to my old stomping grounds!
I'm also excited about that Nextel Cup race up in Michigan. Be looking for ol' Michael to run that high line in the NAPA Auto Parts Chevy! Y'all know I can't resist going up there and giving it a go! I've heard some folks calling it the Michael Waltrip line, but you know, it's really the King's racing groove! Richard Petty's the one who used to always run up there! It served him well, so it ought to be good enough for me too!
= D
Michigan's a good track for me, and I look forward to going there. Y'all have a great week! See you at Michigan or Kentucky or both or wherever I normally see you... or wherever we bump into each other. Take care!

Been preoccupied lately, I wouldn't believe any of the things you here about me and Kurt. I never really did get along with him, but I just kind of faked it so we wouldn't have any problems inside the team. But now we had one, and Roush clearly thinks that Matt and Kurt are the only teams he fields that can run for the championship, and that the other cars are test cars. So I don't want to think about it too much now, but Richard's team looks awfully appealing right now.
I was happy that I got the Busch pole, and then I run pretty decent in the race. Just had some handling issues there in the middle of the race. The Charter Communications Ford was coming back on there at the end, and I am sure I could have passed Tony if that last caution didn't come out. A top five sure would have been nice. But I am really just happy I didn't break, or get wrecked.
Good Luck to everybody in the 600, and Good Luck to Robby, one of my best friends in the 600.

Well, it was a close call in qualifying, but I'm still happy to be sitting on the outside pole. All of the Penske cars did pretty good today, too, so that's even better.
Last week was a lot of fun. It's nice to race sometimes without having to worry about points and the chase for the championship. I was having fun all night, and the ending was great too. Matt Borlan, my crew chief, decided that we should take a gamble and stay out on the track after the second session. It was a little unnerving to see all the cars peel off behind me, but I think we made it work. We didn't win, but we gave it all we could. Matt Kenseth raced me very clean at the end, and I tried my best to keep him behind me. I knew that as soon as he passed me I wouldn't be able to catch him, because he had such a good car and fresher tires.
But back to points racing this weekend. Good luck, guys.

Well I really don't know what to say. I am really at a loss for words, atleast nice ones for my "teammate" Kurt Busch. Bump drafting can not work when you are at a 1.5 mile speedway. I was able to see the replays today after Nazareth, and like DW says that just ain't right. So right now me and Kurt aren't talkin.
Guess what...I @*&%ing broke again. We were running seventh, we had a good car all day, we came from the back, then the piece of **** oil belt comes off. Even though we had to start the Charter Communications car in the back, we came right through the field, and I really thought we weren't going to break today. I am real happy for Jeff Purvis though, he stayed on the lead lap all day, run very good. I hope to see him back real soon!
Congrats to my wonderful teammate Matty. Excellent run, and excellent pass on Ryan.
Kasey- Pretty funny that you got the lucky dog pass for the only two cautions at Nazareth. Go Boy!
Mikey- I am glad you weren't in any wrecks this week. That must feel good. =)

Hey Guys, Well I can't say I much like that sort of qualifying. Its hard to get up to speed and then slow down to try to make your way onto pit road. I was amazed at the amount of guys that were getting caught for speeding. I think I could have qualifying better if I would have stopped a little bit further up in the pit box. I was kinda overthinking about sliding through the box, that I stopped way to short. It threw my guys way off, and they still had a 13.9 second pit stop. They are just damn awesome!! So who ends up on the pole? Rusty Wallace, just barely beating out mr pole position Ryan Newman.
I seriously wish the Busch race was before the All-Star race because all I can think about this weekend is the bad memories I have about Nazareth. I hope it won't distract me in the race. Good Luck to everybody in all races this week, and congrats to my favorite rival Kevin Harvick for finishing fourth in the truck race.

Well Nazareth is getting closer, and what did I hear today...that Jeff Purvis might be driving the 1 car there. Golly Jeff's first race back(maybe) and they make it at Nazareth. That just makes me uncomfortable. I am really happy that he is trying to comeback, but I don't think Nazareth is the right place. I am not comfortable at all racing there, and he had it way worse than me.
I am glad that it is going off the schedule next year. On a more positive note, everybody have fun at Charlotte. Were going for a million bucks!

| Comments on Richmond |
[17 May 2004|11:07am] |
Richmond held a lot of ups and downs this weekend. The Sherrills Ford Posse had that Aaron's Dream Machine all dialed in for the Busch Series race! We didn't qualify so hot, but we were marching up to the front. Unfortunately, we got wrapped up in three different accidents, and the last one took us out completely. So our incredible season in Busch was marred by a DNF, and we've dropped two positions to fourth in the standings. But there's plenty of time to get our luck turned around! The Aaron's boys are working harder than ever, and the efforts from everyone on the team have really been paying off this season! We may or may not make a run for the championship. We're fixing to reassess our chances at the beginning of June.
And on the Cup side of the weekend, my NAPA team sure did an excellent job! They got a car under me that was 7th in Happy Hour, and that NAPA Chevy just felt like it were on rails for most of the race. It drove like a dream! We led 56 laps Saturday night, which is twice as many as I've ever led at the track! That's a testament to how hard my NAPA crew work! I'm so proud of them, and so pleased that they helped me pick up my first top 10 at Richmond in the Cup series. I usually don't look forward to going to Richmond, but man, what a great race for us!
We're still 30th in points, but we're getting the finishes we need now! I am just so jacked up about the rest of this season!
Next week is the All Star race, which I won back in 1996 with the famed Woods Brothers. I've always liked that track! I'll also be running the Busch Series race at Nazareth, as well as in the Truck Series! Busy busy!
= D
