For an old movie, it's quite good, I guess. What I really didn't like about it was how long a single frame is stretched without much meaning. It feels like its just a slideshow of aesthetic scenes.
Overall animation is great, the vibe is great but it feels like there isn't really much of a story here.
It actually gets a little bit interesting halfway through the movie. Then again it becomes kinda still. Nothing much happens.
It is probably led to the viewer to understand what the meaning of the entire movie is and who the man and the girl is. Nothing is really clarified. Honestly was ... a letdown to me because I heard it was really good. In short:

No real story
Confusing
Very little dialogues that make it even harder to understand

It's totally upto an individual to decide if they want to watch this movie despite being stretched out.

This movie is great, honestly really good. It might be hard to understand at first but by the end it becomes kind of clear.

Make sure to see every single second of the movie to understand because it tends to hide the truth in reflections and stuff. And if everything isn't really clear till the end, just know that it's normal. Halfway through the movie, It really becomes confusing so I recommend reading the analysis after watching the movie.

It has some explicit scenes throughout the movie, but the nudity isn't sexual or for fan service even though it is suggestive. Please don't watch it if you ... are sensitive to topics like sexual assault. Some scenes also have bloody sceneries.

The twist is unexpected and the overall movie is thrilling. The characters have depth and the start is very different from the end of the movie. Please trust it and watch all the way to the end.

Overall, It's a very worthy watch if you like psychological anime.

I've read it full now. The start is great I really love it but the ending was not it. It felt too rushed and seemed like no thought was behind it. Story set up is great. Fine artstyle, lovable covers. Beautiful MCs. Great personalities.

Personally, It was my favourite romance manga. It is good infact. Just that I found better ones.

If you aren't a whiny lil b abt the animation, This anime has great storyline. episodes are only 4 minutes long but sure tell a lot of story. The artstyle is unique too. If you like historical anime, this one's for you.
The story is kinda unique in itself. Though its a normal yokai based anime. According to me it shows exactly what yokai behaviours would be like, unlike Shounen where they are used either for fanservice sake or as a villain.
The artstyle/ animation is just moving images here and there but it has its own feel like watching a sort of puppet show. The ... voice acting isn't bad either.
