In this community, you may... - post a "hello, how are you, I am...." so you can meet people on lj and make new friends that have similar interests as you. You can also post a link to your journal or site, but please give an explanation why. - ask questions related to Michigan, like where something is located, how good a club or restaurant is, if someone is looking for a specific service in a certain area, and so on. - plug a new community you or someone you know runs. - plug a local band, their web site, their shows, etc. - post about upcoming events anywhere in Michigan. - post info and/or your opinions about places or events you have been to, or other things going on in Michigan. - sell items you want to get rid of, like houses, cars, instruments, etc. (this includes posting links to auction sites) or inquire if anyone has specific items for sale. - post photos or art of places and events in Michigan.
In this community, you may NOT... - post items for sale related to any kind of pyramid schemes or post information about, "get rich quick" kinds of things. Only individuals who belong to this community can sell items they own and want to get rid of. - information that is not related to Michigan. - post pictures that have NOTHING to do with Michigan life. (i.e. you and your friend’s hanging out in your parent’s basement on a Saturday night). - post ANY information (text or art) that is racist, sexist or offensive to certain groups of people. - post crap to piss people off because you are bored (and if you state as much, you will be banned)
Photos and other art can be posted in this community, with a few stipulations, as stated above, and here: - if you think the photos or art is too big (use your good judgement on this), please place it behind an lj cut. - if you think the photos or art may be considered offensive in any way, please place it behind an lj cut. - please do not post personal photos of yourself, unless it has to do with a place or event in Michigan.
Also, please place long entries behind an lj cut.
I am done being a baby sitter in here. We all know that there will be things people post in here that others may not agree with. We all know that flame wars and name calling are inevitable. I am not condoning that behavior but I know it will happen and I am not going to censor people because of it because that becomes a slippery slope. If there is an individual who you believe is TRULY harassing you, let me know and I will do what I can to stop it and take extreme action if I think it’s necessary.
What I WILL continue to do is check the content of original posts and make sure it follows (closely, but not to a tee) the criteria above. If something is *iffy* I will contact you first. If something is out of line, I will let you know and delete it. If I feel someone really goes WAY over the top, then I will delete it and ban you if need be (hopefully this won’t come up too often). These rules and guidelines may change if things get out of hand. If this is the case, I will let you all know.
