Feeling good

July 5, 2026

Sadje’s Sunday Poser this week asks:

What is something you’ve grown to appreciate as you have grown older?

As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate health more. A person when they’re younger might tend to live a little more impulsively. You know, a lot of late nights, a little taste of this and a little taste of that. A bunch of White Castles at one or two in the morning before heading off to work at 8:00 with just a few hours of sleep, sometimes in the car, and no time for breakfast. Now where’d I put my cigarettes?

Ignorance is bliss, right?

A couple of weeks ago I answered a prompt question about friends from childhood still in our lives and I couldn’t believe how many old friends never got to get old. And how many got old too fast.

“Nobody left to run with anymore. Nobody left to do the crazy things we used to do before.” – Dickey Betts & John Prestia

I’m fortunate. And I’m in a position now, difficult as that position may be, to realize how important that fortune is.

So, yeah, health. Money’s pretty worthy of appreciation as well, especially with the always rising costs of health care, but health wins it for me every time.

This song feels like climbing into the most comfortable bed and laying your head down onto a wonderfully delicious pillow.

I hope you’re feeling good.
