There's been a discussion under filters about an idea I had hit me recently, and I've decided to take it to the next level. Living my life in the over-the-top way that I always have, I've decided to take a semi-novel approach to finding someone to romantically spend it with.

I say "semi-novel," because I fully admit that some concepts I am drawing from are derived right out of "reality TV." Why the hell not? Clearly, people are entertained by some of that stuff, and it seems like a guy like me and folks like my circle of friends and colleagues can make something like that even more entertaining.

So I am about to launch my own "reality experience" -

Sean Patrick Fannon's Quest for the Gamer Girl of His Dreams

Using my Live Journal, Facebook account, and RPGLife blog, I am going to launch and conduct a public search for someone to date and, hopefully, build a life with. I hope to get on lots of gamer and geek-friendly podcasts, and I hope that the culture, overall, catches onto this thing and helps me make it a big deal and a fun thing for everyone to follow.

I'd like to get my hands on some vidcasting stuff, maybe even a vidcast-worthy camera. At the very least, I can try to make use of the stuff I have on my laptop. I want to chronicle the search and everything that happens along the way.

I originally planned to have a Judge's Table, made up of close friends and colleagues, who'd help me evaluate possible candidates and even be able to vote for those I should date, continue to date, or say "no thanks" to.

That idea has been scrapped; cooler and wiser heads prevailed; there's only so much of Reality TV worth importing, and that didn't ultimately appeal.

So, instead, now it's much more free-form, though it's still very out-there and over the top. The way I see it though, (a) my special someone will have an amazing opportunity to really get to know me through not only myself, but the many friends, colleagues, and even fans that I have that are "playing along."

I also need to post the parameters of my search - who I am looking for, in other words. I also need to put a lot of information out there about who I am and what my would-be Gamer Girl is getting in the process (though I already have some stuff out there for just that purpose).

Yes, this is wild and over-the-top. Yes, there's bound to be some publicity generated out of this, and you all know I never mind a bit of publicity.

Yet this is also a sincere effort on my part to find someone who I can share my life with - all of my life. Doing it this way, yes, means putting an important part of my life "out there," and there's always risk to that. But then, I've lived my entire life that way, so it makes a certain amount of sense to approach a quest like this in my established style.

In this way, not only do I stand a good chance of finding someone who shares my interests and comes very likely from the culture I am so intrinsicly a part of...

... I am also likely to find someone who shares my penchant for living life to the fullest, out in the open, and with a wild streak. Anyone who can go through this and end up with me will almost certainly have the chutzpah necessary to be my Princess Bride With Dice.

So, here we go. If you think you know someone who might actually want to participate in this, well, obviously I'd love to have actual participants. So have them start watching this blog for more information.

Should be a very interesting ride. As always, comments welcome.

I usually post about my ED but right now I suppose I'm more caught up in the weight of my heart. I met this guy 3 years ago but we began dating around the 4th of July. We started out be really really good friends. I believe we sometimes see someone and want there to be a connection so badly that we sort of make it happen but tell ourselves it was natural. This guy (we'll call him Tom)is a bit older than me and wasn't my ideal kind of guy at first but he became my total buddy. Our relationship was based on trust and respect and on a smaller level still is. Though at the begining I did notice that he only had one friend (besides me)that consisted of 95% of his social life and it had probably been that way for a while. In the back of my mind I kept wondering if the way he at times seemed to be...I guess obsessed it to strong of a word but I would wonder if I was mostly a ticket out of his loneliness but how could I find that out for sure? Anyways about 2 months later he became more comfortable in letting his temper tantrums/way to gain control show. When he would do something I disagreed with and I would say it would try to always get really mad at any tiny thing I disagreed with and try to intimidate me into biting my tongue when I felt he wasn't treating me right or I disagreed. He does this every time we are together. Sometimes he'll drag it out but it seems when he has something to gain than he cuts it short.Though he shows that he has a lot of love for me. I know your probably thinking yeah you just want to believe that but I could tell that he wasn't faking how strongly he felt towards me by the people closest to him. If he really cherishes me why the tantrums that pulls us apart? How can someone do both to someone? Is it b/c he knows I'll keep coming back? Which I think is a strong possibility but if that is the case I still don't get it. I was curious what other people thought about the situation.

9:52 PM 7/24/08 · Back during my sexual development, less the body and more the mind, I did some poking around the swinger lifestyle. Didn't get so much as involved with it, at the time anyway, but I did peruse several magainzes and read a lot of the literature. Wrote some organizations and got packets of stuff in the mail...

I would like to invite you (if male and above 18) to participate in an online research on male body image and internet dating. (If you are female, please pass this on to your male friends.)

An Internet Study: The relationships between men's self-reported physical attributes, body image, self-esteem and internet dating.

There has been quite a lot of research conducted on women's body image and we have a reasonable understanding of the types of factors that impact on women's body image and that ultimately lead to disorders like Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa. However, we know very little about men's body image and the factors that impinge on the way males think about their bodies. Consequently we also know very little about how this impacts on men's health.

Do you want to do something about it?

If so, you are invited to take part in a research project that will focus exclusively on men's body image. Previous research has highlighted the impact of men's physical attributes on body image and how men perceive their own body. The purpose of this study is to further explore the relationship between physical qualities of men, their body image and self-esteem, using an Internet sample.

All men above the age of 18, who have at least basic literacy in English, are invited to participate in this study. If possible, please have a tape measure ready.

The questionnaire consists of 62 mostly multiple-choice questions and should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your responses will remain anonymous and no identifying information will be collected. You are free to withdraw from this study at any time.

Okay, stats under the cut but I figured I'd put a short little paragraph description here. I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor and tend to swear a lot, also I find stupid things funny and can sometimes get chatty if people don't tell me to shut up.

I hate it when people are annoyed with me but don't say so, so they get progressively more annoyed and I never realize anything's wrong.

I tend to be overly empathetic sometimes and overly apathetic at other times, I make jokes about everything and while I can certainly be serious it's usually only with people I feel comfortable being serious with. It isn't terribly hard to get me to be comfortable with that, though, so that's cool. I spend a lot of my time walking around town in the middle of the night, sometimes during the day I go for walks and take pictures of dead things, and I like eating at Taco Bell. I can't stand the smell of smoke and won't date a smoker, and I also can't stand drunk people so won't date someone who drinks to excess. I do enjoy the occasional rum and coke but seriously, two at most. I don't like not having control over myself. :(

Ideally I want someone I can be myself around, who doesn't mind my dumb sense of humor, who likes random trips to Wal Mart that don't end up with actually buying anything. I'm kind of a hopeless romantic and I have a thing for 80s romance movies so basically if something is cheesy and involves terrible pop music I will probably be all for it.
Gamer guys are cool but I have had way too many experiences with guys who will not shut up about how awesome particular characters are and the best way to woo a girl is NOT to talk about how cool it was when Sephiroth totally owned the Midgar Zolom or something. -_- I mean it's cool if that's what you're into, but I ain't into that.

Tarot and the Metaphysical

Fun-lover, truth-seeker, free-spirit, metaphysically-inclined disenfranchised member of the Pepsi Generation.

Here's the situation: When I do a Tarot reading for most people, they rave about the results - but I'm not too great when I try to read for myself. I'd like to meet a woman who is also into Metaphysical things and who reads Tarot.

Friends first, but I'm fully open to a romantic relationship, should things develop that way.
