Luna blinked in confusion, then got up and followed harry to the kitchens to get some jello. (haha) She wandered down the halls, looking at all the portraits of past headmasters. She waved at the portrait of Dibbet, who scowled back. She poked her head into the kitchen and saw Harry there.
"Mind if I join you?" Luna said in her dreamy voice. She entered the room as quietly as possible and twisted her butterbeer cap necklace, a nervous habit of hers. |

Harry looked around boredly. Everything felt dead at Hogwarts. The only thing of interest was Trevor, who hopped around the deserted common room looking somewhat distressed.
Thinking about jello, he made his way downstairs to the kitchens. |

Luna found her thoughts turning to Ron. She longed to ruffle his brilliantly red hair and look into his soft brown (??) eyes. She sighed and reopened her book. Luna found she had lost interest in reading for the moment, and resigned herself to doodling "LL + RW" in her notebook.

Ginny snorted at her brother's answer. 'No, I never have known him to study,' she thought. She looked back down at her potions notes and wondered where Hermione was when she needed her. She exclaimed, "Oh, stuff it."
She looked up at Ron again and released her poor fiery hair from its death grip. She snorted again, though softly. Her expression changed and she seemed to consider her silbling in a new light. He really wasn't as lazy and unmotivated as people would gather at first glance.
"How about some chess, Ron?"

Ron was rather disgruntled by Ginny's question, and he let a few moments pass before he answered.
"Ginny, have you ever really known your brother to study? I don't know how I did it, really. It was mostly stress and being told to study by Hermione. Lots of stress."
He lazily pulled a pillow up and set it under his head, but found this made his head sit at an odd angle, so he quickly removed it and chucked the cushion at his sister. "Don't let them worry you too much. At least, don't let 'Mione worry you. They're not too awful. Only partly."

Luna curled up in a big easychair by the fire. She tucked her wand behind her ear and dropped her bookback on the floor next to her. She rummaged around in the over-filled bag until she found the book she was reading, A Midsummer Night's Dream, by Shakespeare. Her copy of the play was well worn, and this was her third new copy. Luna had read it so many times, she could close her eyes and recite the words from the beginning to the end of the play. She opened the book to the fight scene between the four lovers. She smiled and imagined herself as Hermia, with Ron (Lysander) and perhaps... Harry, she supposed, as Demetrius, fighting over her. Who would be Helena? Not Ginny, that's slightly incestuous... Hermione then, Luna decided. Hermione was the only other girl she knew, aside from Ginny, with whom she was even slightly friendly. Luna sighed deeply and returned to her book, reading by the glow of the firelight. |

Ginny was sitting in the Gryffindor common room on the floor by the fire. She had four books opened and spread around her, along with a plethora of slightly crumpled parchment and two broken quills. Her right hand held an unbroken quill while her left was gripping a chunk of hair by the scalp. She was quite clearly frustrated with something.
Ginny had stayed at Hogwarts over the winter holidays and spent most of her time playing chess with Ron and not thinking about her O.W.L.s. With the impending doom of classes starting again, however...She heard the voice of Hermione in the back of her mind for a solid week, reminding her to study. Ginny was slightly disgruntled with this, as Hermione was one to nag in person and therefore she didn't think it was fair that even when she was alone at night, she could hear the nagging in her head. But she also realized that her brainy friend was right: she SHOULD be studying.
So that's precisely what she was doing when Ron walked in and flopped into his chair. She glanced up at him, then back down to her potions book and the notes she was scribbling, then back up at him. She tilted her head a bit and inquired, "How on Earth did you manage to study for these bloody things, Ron?" Her face was somewhere between troubled and teasing and she had a glint in her eye. |

(OOC note: I realize this really stinks, and needs help, but I'm not good at starting. So. Come rescue me =D Or start your own. =D)
The hallways were beginning to fill up again. Students were returning from various places, most with that look of joy that accompanies the holidays. Some, though, had a hidden look of fear, that was becoming more and more common among the students. The murders were beginning, and some lived in affected communities, or knew someone that did. Hogwarts was one of the safest places to be, however, and most students were glad to return.
Ron had stayed at Hogwarts, along with his sister and Harry, mostly so that they would be safer. The Weasleys were rarely at the Burrow, and things were hectic at the Order of Phoenix's headquarters, so they had opted to stay out of the way, though it had been a hard decision.
The weather had been quite mild over the break, and Ron had taken advantage of it, practicing almost daily. He had improved greatly as a keeper, and didn't get quite so nervous before games. He was now just returning from his daily practice. He hoped that his fellow Gryffindors hadn't invaded the common room (or hadn't returned yet), but found that that was not the case. He flopped down into a chair, raising his hand in greeting. |

About
Kwikspell is, very simply, yet another Harry Potter role-playing game. The game takes place during Harry Potter’s 6th year at Hogwarts. Things in the wizarding world are quite a bit different than Harry has been used to – the return of Voldemort has been made known to the public, and nearly everyone is fearful. However, Hogwarts is considered a sort of "safe-haven," and students try to live as normally as they have in the past. The position of "High Inquisitor" has been removed, along with the Ministry of Magic’s many regulations upon Hogwarts. What happens during this year is up to you – the players of the game.
The unique thing about our community is that we do not require you to create a journal for your character (you can if you'd like, I suppose). All we ask is that you label your posts clearly, so everyone knows who is doing what. And if you would like to make an icon for your character, that would be helpful, too. The game itself will be played in this community, written in third person. If you would like to write a journal entry or owl for your character, you can do so by placing it in an LJ cut and labeling it either private (no one but your character (or the character it is addressed to, in the case of an owl) can know about it, or public, where all the characters can know about it. AIM RPing is all right if the log is uploaded to the community and placed in an LJ cut. An exception is mentioned in the rules.

Rules
1. Don’t be a jerk. This is self-explanatory. Mind your manners, don’t mock people, and don’t be hateful. The moderators will bite you if you become a jerk.
2. All players must be able to spell decently and have somewhat decent grammar. If we can’t understand what you’re saying, you won’t be allowed to join.
3. Players must be interested in Harry Potter and must have read all five books.
4. Players must be willing to work hard at keeping the game going, and be willing to
write often (at least one post a week) so that the game does not die. Dead games are no fun.
5. You must keep your character canon. The moderators do not like things that are not canon. If you aren’t sure if something is canon, ask us about it. We’re always willing to help out!
6. Keep the nasty stuff to a minimum. No needless swearing or overly sexual things between characters. We’d like to keep it at a PG13 rating. If you’d like to do something more adult, do it over AIM and don’t upload the log to the community.
7. All relationships must be approved by the moderators. This is just to help prevent non-canon things. Flirting without permission is allowed, most definitely, but remember: canon is a good thing.
8. All regular role-playing is written in third-person, paragraph style. That means no *'s or ::'s or whatever the case may be. Journal entries should be written in first person journal style, and any AIM RPing should be written in third-person paragraph style.

The only restrictions are that it MUST be a character mentioned in the books (check this site for a list of characters, including some lesser known characters that would be good for a beginner) and you may not play Albus Dumbledore or Minerva McGonagall.
