Hello everyone!

It's been a while since we've done this (not since March 2008, if you believe it) so it felt only natural to post about this. Consider this a check-in for lately meal posts have fallen by the wayside, but that doesn't mean they should fall obsolete! They're an excellent way of interacting with pups that ordinarly wouldn't be approached (they're essentially mini gathering posts).

Presently we have the following open slots for meal posts:

- Tuesday Breakfast
- Tuesday Dinner
- Thursday Dinner

The current kitchen schedule can be found here. If your pup no longer wants his or her slot or there has been a mistake of some sort, just let me know and I'll fix it. Also if you want to pick up a slot, please either comment here or catch me on aim and we'll work it out.

Slots are given on a first come, first serve basis and come with the stipulation that at least one meal post should be posted per pup per month. This isn't mandatory by any means, but it serves as a nice reminder that it's out there and provides a good tagging opportunity in a pre-existing environment.

Okay. I've been promising myself that I'd do this for a long time and now seems like a pretty good time to do it. I've noticed a big drop-off (yes, yes, myself included) in people making meal-posts, so I think we're going to change the system a bit. The rota, at the moment, stands like this:

Firstly, if your pup doesn't want their slot anymore for whatever reason, could you let me know so I can look at getting someone in to fill it? Secondly, I'd like to make sure that there's regularly at least a few mealposts going up, so I'm going to ask that, if you're on the rota, you make an effort to make one mealpost a month, minimum. I'm including myself in this, just so you know -- I know that I don't necessarily have the time or inclincation for all four, but I know I can do better!

I am the hugest loser ever and this is a bit late, but perhaps I should pull Bran off the kitchen crew for a while? If anyone wants Wednesday evenings they are welcome to them. (And if nobody does, I can keep trying to do them as I have time, just, things are so up in the air right now I don't know when I'll have energy again.)

Okay, chaps...further to my earlier post, I just wanted to make a couple of points here on the comm. Firstly, for the duration of the disaster, until Eostre's allowed out of the basement, the kitchen is going to be nominally under the command of Mimi Marquez. I'm not sure how that'll affect actual gameplay, but there it is.

Secondly, I know that people are occupied in other places but if you GET a chance to make your mealpost during the week, giving people a chance to congregate in a relatively safe area, that would, indeed, be shiny.

Is there anyone who has a weekday breakfast shift who would be willing to trade with Bill? He currently has Fri dinner. Internet policing at work has tightened a lot recently which means I can't LJ from work, and if I wait until later in the evening to do the post it's usually way too late since I'm on the west coast. I can, however, swing a post *before* I go to work.

Any takers? :D

He cooks; I cook. He's going to be doing some stuff about nutrition for good health, so it seems like a good idea to have him take shifts in the kitchen from time to time, like an on-call thing. He's also willing to talk about food with anybody.

Breakfast would be most convenient for my schedule, as I work overnight and could get a post up early in the morning.

Just let me know what I need to do. :)

I feel REALLY bad about always forgetting to do Dorothy's dinner post on Thursdays. I always forget about it until it's Friday afternoon, and then I realize that YESTERDAY was my day to post.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to swap a Friday or Saturday spot (Breakfats or Dinner, either is fine with me) for the thursday dinner slot?

Is anyone interested in a permanent trade of dinner shifts...? I've just found out that this quarter I'm going to be at work Wednesday nights, so I'll be on campus for about eleven straight hours with no time for tagging. I can't really do breakfast as am in the wrong time zone and have class, but pretty much any other day would be fine...

The volunteers I have so far are: Cam Watanabe, Yuri, Jane Bennett, Mimi Marquez and possibly Eostre (which will give Vianne fits, as she canonically held an entire festival in honor of Eostre, haaa). Since I have no idea about your schedules, you may volunteer for any of the open positions you like, and we can work out timing as issues arise. For now, I'm tentatively adding Jane for Monday breakfast, since Manda is away and can't speak for herself at the moment.

Hello. Just wanted to stop in and ask if you were looking for anyone else on kitchen crew. Yuri is thinking about helping in-game and I wanted to check to see if she'd be able to join the crew before she decides anything.

I know that two members of the crew disappeared in the storm but that you might not wish (for OOC reasons) to have anyone new just yet. Let me know.

I know it's a responsibility posting every week but I need to give Yuri something more to do. After the storm she just can't sit around anymore--that's not the sort of person she is. If you can use her now that's good, if possibly later just let me know and I'll hold off with having her do anything else.

Canonically, Yuri does know how to cook.

Hello everyone,

Given the timetable for the hurricane, the kitchen crew should continue to cook in the kitchen itself until tomorrow, when the top floor of the compound will be evacuated (as per the IPD post in island_police). Those pups moving things from the upstairs need to keep this in mind, as they will need to work around the kitchen crew, and enough supplies should be left to continue making the afternoon, evening and morning meals. Also, please keep in mind that there is no way for anyone to know that the top level will need to be evacuated before tomorrow, so no flailing over moving things too quickly, etc. Thank you. ^^

Vianne will be cooking food that can be easily stored or reheated in the caves, such as raw fruit, oatmeal, and unleavened bread. Potatoes, canned vegetables, and salted meat can be cooked or reheated over a fire, as well as vegetable soup. In any case, no one should be going hungry during the hurricane, although everything but raw fruit and canned items will be running low by midday on August 5th. In the time before the evacuation of the top level, kitchen workers can continue to make meal posts somewhat as usual, with the understanding that more cooking than usual will be going on around them.

Tonight I will be making a "gathering" sort of post with Vianne for any kitchen crew workers who want to help with preparing the necessary food rations. It can be slowtimed through tomorrow, of course. Feel free to ask any questions here, or to ask any questions of Vianne in-game as necessary!

Hey all. I'm signing Cam up for kitchen duty if you need him! Because... well, he's only happy when he's doing everything and has no time to breath. So IG he has the late late shift at the IPD office (12am to 9am), making lunch a little crazy, but breakfast and dinner totally feasible. OOG I'm on the west coast, but I also have summer school, so I have no problem writing out a breakfast post the night before then posting it when I wake up in the morning, usually around 6 or 7 PST.

Anywho, yeah. eviisalmon if you need me for anything.

I'm headed home tomorrow, but I will be driving the whole entire day and don't expect to be back in time to do a proper meal post, really (not quite coherent, after all that, and as much as I like doing them, I have to be honest; after a week of total RP withdrawal, feeding people is not the Very First Thing on my mind)--if anyone would like to trade a night or take over tomorrow...?

Hello! I'm interested in volunteering Dorothy for Kitchen Duty. I'm most available Sunday, Monday, and Thursday evenings, but Fridays and Saturdays are also a possibility (that's when I'm off from work). I can do Tuesdays and Wednesday if needed, but I work until 9:00 Pacific Time, which means any tags to Dorothy would have to always be slowtimes.
