Day out in Dargaville

Today Doug and I went to Dargaville - last night I carefully put the large battery from my camera on to charge - the only trouble was that when I grabbed the camera this morning I forgot about the battery.

Luckily Doug had his camera with him so they are all his photos today.

We had a pleasant drive (about an hour) to Dargaville and had a look at a couple of shops (including the Hospice shop where I purchased the exact comforter that I wanted for my bed) before going to the Blah,Blah,Blah Cafe for a delicious Terakihi (fish) lunch with an iced coffee and orange juice.  I was going to have the iced coffee but when it came it was too sweet for me so we swapped.

We than had a look at the shops on the other side of the road before heading to the Dargaville Museum which was our main reason for the trip.  A friend had told me about the museum and it was excellent.

Parkinson Walk 25/02/13 Reotahi Walkway

There were 12 of us on today's walk.  We met at the Whangarei airport where some cars were pooled and we drove on to McLeod's Bay.  Another sunny day - no rain forecast until at least the end of March!!!!!!!!!

Late yesterday I took this photo of a clump of Belladonna lilies in my garden.  Just below the belladonnas in the rock wall is a wasp nest that Doug has been trying to exterminate with wasp killer for over a fortnight.

People in the Park

Today we went to the people in the Park day at Kensington Stadium in aid of Hospice.
There were these delightful animals for the children to ride.  They pushed on the pedals to make them go.

These balloons in a paddling pool looked good and were very popular.

Then there were several Bouncy Castles

Someone had large kites for hire.  This one is very high up.

 Then there was the entertainment

The Firebrigade and Ambulance were also there and a helicopter.

Doug the Digger was there.  It was great to watch the expressions on the children's faces as they worked the digger to lift the stick from the two cones on the left and then onto the sticks inserted in the cones on the right.

The Police were there complete with horse.

There were also numerous stalls and we came home with some smoked salt with garlic and spices, some excellent beeswax polish and homemade apricot jam.

It was an enjoyable couple of hours and took my mind off the Nursing Home for a short while where I have been having trouble with various aspects of Max' care.
