First reaction: HOLY SHIT!!!

This was my first janet concert, and I am so glad that it was. She was simply amazing. I have seen the other shows on dvd and they were stunning, but she really laid the smack down this time!!! She came out the gate with an intense amount of energy and kept it up the whole time. The dancers were tight, the costumes were on point... I could not have been more satisfied.

The one thing that struck me about seeing her live was what everyone has been saying about her weight. I had amazing floor seats (right in front of the catwalk) so I was able to get a good look at her and the first thing that I said to myself is "damn, you know she is black!!!" She had the hips, the thighs, and the ass of a black woman. Sounds silly, but when you think about it, that is definately the reason why she may come across a little more plump at times. The right outfit can accentuate all your...."Ethnicities". So I say work it ms j!!! I mean besides, even if she may seem a little thick, there is no mistaking that she is healthy, especially after seeing her own every inch of the stage for 2 hours...

Favorite part of the show: when she did "I get lonely" and everyone in the audience where i was sitting did the snaps in the choreography right in time with the dancers....and I mean right in time. A snap up, a snap to the left, a snap to the right...all in time with the choreography. Oh!! and when she did "discipline" and you read the lips of the guy she picked saying "I want this, I want this". Again she raised the s+m bar... All I have to say is simulated 69ing one second and then riding the same man a few seconds later...WORK!! its funny cause she seems to pick the gay guys to come on stage... She should get a free toatster for turnin' the gays cause there is no way he was gay after that 5 minutes...

Low point was the two guys in front of me asking me constantly "what song is this?"(Young love,say you do) Or "who is that guy?" (Referring to nelly, q tip, and jermaine dupree) I mean if your not a fan, what are you doing there?!

Janet Jackson was hospitalized earlier this week due after a bout with vertigo, according to her brother Randy on Thursday.

Jackson was hospitalized Monday night while on her Rock Witchu Tour stop in Montreal. She apparently got sick during a sound check prior to her scheduled performance in Montreal. She was rushed to Royal Victoria Hospital and released a few hours later.

At the time of her hospitalization, reports said she was hospitalized for an "unknown illness". However, her brother Randy made a comment on a Michael Jackson fan site, stating that his youngest sister Janet had a bout with vertigo. "Janet is doing okay, she suffers from vertigo," said Randy.

Vertigo is a disturbance of the equilibrium that causes dizziness or the sensation of falling while the body is actually stationary with respect to the surroundings.

Jackson canceled her performance at Montreal's Bell Centre for the night. Her shows in Boston on Wednesday and Philadelphia on Thursday have also been postponed. She will resume her Rock Witchu tour on Saturday in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Last week she called off a concert in Detroit due to "production restraints," local media said. In April, while promoting Discipline, Jackson missed an appearance on "Saturday Night Live" due to bronchitis, according to MTV News.

Pop star Janet Jackson spent two hours at Montreal hospital before discharged

MONTREAL — A spokesperson for the McGill University Health Centre says pop star Janet Jackson was discharged from the Royal Victoria Hospital about two hours after she checked in Monday night after cancelling her show.

The reason for her visit and where she went afterwards isn't clear.

According to a statement released by W & W Public Relations, the singer called off the show after she "got suddenly ill" during a sound check.

The 42-year-old was rushed to hospital, while fans were informed of the cancellation about five minutes before the show was to begin with opening act L-L Cool J.

Promoter Groupe Spectacles Gillett says Jackson hopes to return to Montreal as soon as possible.

NEW YORK (AP) — A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.

According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she "got suddenly ill" during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson's condition.

A phone call placed to W&W after hours went unanswered, and a representative did not immediately return an e-mail seeking more information.

Jackson, 42, is on a North American tour.

Jay-Z reportedly wants to sign 50 Cent and Janet Jackson to his new record label.

The rapper is said to want to make the 'In Da Club' star and 'Together Again' singer - who announced she had left her record label, Island Records' Def Jam imprint, earlier this week - the first signings to his new venture StarRoc, along with Janet's long-term boyfriend, producer Jermaine Dupri.

A senior label source revealed to Media TakeOut: "Jay-Z approached 50 Cent - whose contract with Interscope ends in December - earlier this year and now he's talking to Janet and Jermaine.

"It seems like a difficult task to get so many big artists under one roof, but I wouldn't put anything past Jay-Z."

All artists who sign to StarRoc are expected to agree all-encompassing deals - similar to Jay-Z's $150 million contract with Live Nation - which will enable the rapper to control all of their assets, including recording, touring, and merchandise.

Since her 1989 debut album “Rhythm Nation 1814,” Janet Jackson hasn’t shown many signs that she’s getting older. Physically, Jackson is still in control, but lyrically she could use some discipline. Jackson’s 10th album, “Discipline,”  is an obvious attempt to remain appealing to a younger audience. Not much has changed in subject matter on this album, which is loaded with sexual innuendoes and Ms. Jackson’s love issues. Evident differences are the way she delivers verses and her experimentation with old and new sound.
Not including “Discipline,” Jackson toned it way down for this album. The track “Curtains” does a great job of masking the intentions of Jackson’s lyrics. “The cameras are set/ Make sure we tape it/ So you don’t forget/ It’s time, so just sit back/ And enjoy the show/ Time to close the curtains.” This song is meant to be sexy — and it succeeds, thanks to the upbeat horns and Jackson’s soft, fluid vocals. The computerized sound of “Feedback” displays the artist’s innovative lyrics and efforts to compete with other rising performers. “I got them all, that’s why these girls out here hatin’/ I gotta body like a CL5/ Flyer than a pelican/ ‘Cause my swag is serious.” Watch out, Beyoncé!
The fast-paced “Luv,” written to describe how Jackson was hit by love, does just that. This song is perfect for riding in a convertible with the top down; hair blowing in the wind. The calming “Never Letchu Go” is something Jackson’s done before. “I said it twice/ And I’m a say once more/ You’re the one I want/ I’m never gonna let you go/ You make me want you/ And fight you/ Love you/And despise you.” Still, that does not overshadow the clear call and response between her, the steady base, and the piano.
“Discipline” may not have deviated from Jackson’s usual topics, but it guarantees she’s not done yet.

any thoughts on the new video? I thought it was pretty tight. I like all of the modern choreography she is infusing into this new album... the concept behind this video is pretty cool too
