hey i'm meaghan and i, like all of you i guess, am an incoming freshman. i'm from somers, new york and i'm seventeen. i plan on studying communications-public relations and production. i didn't fell like crating a myspace, and i already had a livejournal, so i figured it would be easier to add a community.
i really like television, scrubs, friends, gilmore girls. most recently i've become addicted to beauty and the geek-it's really fabulous. i love old school nickelodeon shows, like doug, legends of the hidden temple and rocko's modern life. i also have a pechant for jeopardy. i really love watching it, i even wrote my college essay about it.
i listen to music all the time-right now i'm in a ben folds (five) stage, but i also like the killers, queen, green day, maroon 5 the beatles, the rolling stones, black eyed peas, sublime, bob marley etc. i'm not a big reader-i do mostly magazines and newspapers, but i love j.d. salinger. nine stories is my favorite book.
i love cheesecake, chocolate and ice cream. cold stone creamery is like my mecca, and ben and jerry's is pretty awesome too.
i'm pretty easy going, but i hate bad smells, especially body odor and sweat, it just grosses me out. other little stupid things annoy me, but over all not much really gets to me.
i'd love to hear from some fellow classmates, only one other person from my high school is going to hofstra and we're not exactly friends, so i'm excited to meet some new people.

Is it absolutely NECESSARY to go to orientation? What goes on there?

When do we choose classes? Should I be getting that info in my email / snail mail?

What's the deal with placement testing? Can I do placement testing when I get there?

Sorry for the bombarding of questions, but I seriously am stupid (or something) about this whole college thing.

-What made you choose Hofstra?: Hofstra has a renowned yet on-the-rise communications program with great classes, connections, and internships. The proximity to the New York City was a major plus too. I love going to the city. I’m a singer/songwriter, so I plan on hitting up the open mic/coffeehouse scene around Manhattan and Brooklyn in my free time. I’m always willing to hang out in the city, people! I truly love New York. Broadway, Coney Island, SoHo, you name it. I’m there.

-What are you planning on majoring in? Print Journalism

-Are there any teams/groups/clubs you want to play on/join/participate in?: The Hofstra Independent Music Organization, The Chronicle (newspaper), Font (literary magazine)

-Where did you request to live next year?: Constitution Hall

-What made you choose Hofstra? I love NYC, so location was really key for me. I also didn't want to be IN the city, so I stayed away from the NYU-type schools. Also, I've heard great things about the music program and the school in general. I want to pursue alot of the things that Hofstra has to offer.

-What are you planning on majoring in? Music Education

-Are there any teams/groups/clubs you want to play on/join/participate in? I really want to be in the drama department. If I wasn't told I would go insane by doing it, I would double major or minor in Theater or Musical Theater. I also want to be really involved in the choruses (well, I have to, to keep my scholarship), and maybe even the newspaper or radio.

-Where did you request to live next year? Netherlands North, and I'm happy because I just heard that most freshmen who request to live there get it.

-Are you excited, or what?? Um, yes:)
