Hello. I'm new to the community and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Stacy. I've been reading Marvel comics since the mid 90's. Any other info about me.... Not much to share. Wolverine and Nick Fury are my two favorite Marvel characters. I don't read much outside of Marvel, but there are a few. I run a Wolverine fansite at http://www.wildboyclub.com (We also have an LJ Community wildboyclub). The site has image galleries, fanfiction, message boards and also accepts fanart. The other site I run is a Nick Fury fansite at http://www.shieldhq.net The site has image galleries, message boards, fanfiction and accepts fanart. Thanks Current Mood: awake |

fresh baked comics,,,
So... I've developed a new fascination with the Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic is kinda neat. And of course the Thing. I believe I shall write a paper contrasting the Thing and The Beast. Everyone pick up 1602 Kind of awesome. I love how their using the characters. It's well written, excellent art, and it's just a damn cool concept. And Nick Fury is in it. Amazing! Maxx Comics is doing a mini series about the Punisher.. or rather, pre-piunisher, Frank Castle. Pretty cool. I like how you get to see Frank from the perspective of a soldier, before the days of the famous Punisher. Frank is just as badass and righteous at ever. I dig their mini series. Check out the one from last year about Nick Fury. Amazing. It's out in Big Book form if you don't feel like hunting down the single issues like I did. There are 6. Picked up a big book of DCs Batman Series DEATHBLOW. Good Art. Good concept, I just fell like the dialogue kind of is missing something.. some parts are a little hard to follow. I've been doing my homework on Daredevil. I stand corrected. The only time I picked up a few copies was in the late 80s early 90s... which sucked. I can kind of appreciate Matt Murdock at this point. Especially under the current storyline. Writing is excellent. The character has sort of been reinvented. The current storyline for the Punisher is pretty good. This months issue was a little bit dissappointing. Hoping for a good closing to the story in next months issue. What's everybody reading? Current Mood: dorky |

what I'm reading( and maybe you should too!)
The Amazing Spiderman kicks off my list. I used to read it a long time ago and then that whole clone saga came up and I stopped. Now it's written by this guy named J. michael Strazynski (babylon 5, Rising Stars) who is great. He made me interested in Spiderman all over again. He's not rehashing all th same bad guys in those same situations. New bad guys. New situations. A lot more about Peter Parker and his life behind the mask. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol 2 is also a great read. If you liked the first one (or Alan Moore's work in general) than it's a must read. Warren Ellis' work. He's my favorite writer in comics of all time. Transmetropolitan, The Authority, and Planetary are some of his previous work that should be read. Reload and Global Frequency are current projects that he's working on that are real good. I'll stop here for now. I swear these are good. Trust me. (God bless you Raver Jen. Indeed!) Welcome!
Welcome everybody to Heroes By Night... Hmmm... I guess I'll start off the first discussion.... Let's talk about a book I just picked up called Dark Days... it's written by Steve Niles and Illustrated by Ben Templesmith. I enjoy it alot. Interesting illustration style.. reminds of of sort of graffiti influenced.. good for a horror comic. It's the continuation to 30 Days of Night which was a great three book series now out in paperback. I strongly suggest picking it up.. It's a fresh storyline with interesting characters and not ridiculously cheesy dialogue. And I say check out the Punisher in the Marvel Knights... Garth Ennis is a great writer! It's not the same drab mafia bust. Frank has been getting into some weird stuff lately. Feedback ya'll what's everybody reading these days? |
