Hello!
Just found this comm on LJ and I wanted to post a hello to all the members.

I have become recently (re)obsessed with Guiding Light, more specifically with the coupling of Danny Santos and Michelle Bauer, aka "Manny". I have spent almost an entire week (after work, of course :P) watching old clips of them on YouTube. I have been watching all the later stuff when Nancy St. Alban joined the show as Michelle. As much as I liked Bethany Joie Lenz, all I see her as is Haley James Scott on One Tree Hill. I personally am a NSA fan and think she really owned the role of Michelle early on. I know she was never the "favorite" Michelle, but I personally think she was the better Michelle, and *my* favorite. :)
I miss this show so much. I really wish it would come back on. My dream would be for there to be a soap opera channel (oh wait, we HAD one until the Disney D-bags *cancelled* it! *growls*) that showed all the old soaps that had been cancelled, brought back to life. :)
I would love to see Guiding Light, As The World Turns, Another World, All My Children, One Life To Live, Ryan's Hope, Sunset Beach (to name a few) to come back with new storylines. Even reruns would be great too. It's got to be better than the crap that's on soaps these days!
What couples/storylines were your favorite? What do you miss most about the show?

I keep having dreams that Guiding light is still on, but on a lesser cable channel and they have changed some of the characters but kept most of the same history. I love when I have those dreams. I wake up so happy.

Nobody responded to my last post, but I'm still not going to give up! I'm never leaving GL! :) Here is a cute Italian tribute video. It's a tad long and fast paced, but that's 70 years for ya! It has lots of short video clips of TONS of GL characters, which is really nice to see because I saw people I forgot existed!

Here are some pictures from the GL fan luncheon/auction a few days ago. They are very cute! There is another luncheon/auction coming up soon, so we can expect more updates and pictures from that. In the meantime Crystal's new web series Venice is filming. Can't wait to see it!

Hi Everyone,
Today is a strange day. For the first time we are without our Light. It is heart breaking. I feel like I have lost many friends and I am sure many of you feel the same way. I haven't watched GL for as long as most but I had eleven wonderful years with the people of Springfield that I will never forget.
It doesn't matter if you watched every day or you checked in with the citizens of Springfield only pieriodically, one thing unites us all. We thought Guiding Light would always be there and it is a sad truth that we were wrong.
I would like to change the layout of the community to mirror our loss and fond memories. If you have any ideas, or specific characters you would like to see in the new layout, please share them. I would love for the layout to be representative of all of our feelings.
What will you miss most about the show?

Did anyone else notice Katherine Chancellor and Michael Baldwin sitting with Rick Bauer during the wedding yesterday?
I don't know if I should admit how much I'm enjoying the way the different stories are being tied up for the show.

With the inevitable ending of our beloved GL.. do you all watch any other Soaps or will you be thinking of switching after there is no GL goodness?
Personally I forced myself to start watching All My Children once Ricky Paull Goldin moved there. I'm glad I did, as I've fallen in love with the cast and a good deal of the characters. But what, if anything, will fill the GL void for you?
