Teach Asia

ESL Teach Asia, No EXP Needed, up to $3K/month + Airfare + Rent (Seoul, Korea)

Experience of a lifetime,

There are several different options for travelling abroad and teaching English. This is a phenomenal way to save money up to $15,000 in one year and explore a new country. I have lived in Korea for several years teaching English and can help you explore your options. I am currently an independent consultant partnering with ESLPIA (www.eslpia.com).

This is one of the most amazing opportunities to challenge yourself, make lifelong friends, and save significant amounts of income. I would be happy to share my experience and assist you in determining if this is something you would like to do. Korean schools pay for your airfare, rent, and pay you a competitive salary for working 25-30hrs a week. But it is important that you choose the right school and understand the process well.

In order to qualify as an ESL instructor in Korea, you must hold a passport and be a citizen of Australia, Canada, Ireland, Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, or USA. In addition, the instructor must have graduated from a 4-year undergraduate program with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in hand from a recognized university or college and sealed transcripts.

If you think traveling Asia while earning a competitive income, please read this online brochure:

Please email me to ask question or learn more about getting started.

hi.  female, 18 years old, college freshman.
Please don't rant and tell me I must stick behind and try to help my country, even though on one hand I wish there was something I could do, I am not typically one of those people who makes a difference in such matters, and i would probably go nuts trying. but the more i read and hear the less i want to make America my home for the rest of my life. not to sound cliche, but america's going 1984, piece by piece. it freaks me out.
as i am merely a college freshman with basically no life experience, i understand that i am highly uninformed on what one must do to become an expatriate of most any country you want to live in other than your home country. you have to get a lot of stuff together. is it nearly impossible to become an expatriate nowadays? is there anything i can do now to prepare to live in another country someday?
1) are there places where it is relatively easy to go to school abroad?
2)does anyone else feel the way i do, or has moved to another country and is happier than they were in this one?  any tips?
3)would studying abroad help?

any tips or advice would be wonderful.

hi everyone!  I'm a 19 year old gay, pacifist, american who is curious about leaving...for good.  I don't want to offend anyone but I'll be frank about my political views.  I have refused to say the pledge of allegiance since I was 12. I despise nationalism. I am an absolute pacifist to the point I border on anarchism.  when I identify myself it's by my ethical beliefs or as a Pennsylvanian (my family lived there since 1684, not counting the natives they married who had obviously lived there longer...) the US government has not been here as long as we have...but I still feel like I may want to leave.  my reasons:Collapse )

my questions:Collapse )

any suggestions on finding a graduate school (and paying for it) in europe, and then getting citizenship there, would be greatly appreciated.

Jobs in Berlin for English-Language-only?
Hello. I was hoping you might be able to help me out.

I'm currently considering my options for life and considered moving to Berlin in Oct. 2008. The problem is, I don't speak German, and I'm a journalist and writer by trade. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit about what kind of jobs are available for English-language speakers. I might be able to do some travel writing freelance while teaching English to businessfolk, for example? (Though I can't get a TEFL certification, sadly, the closest place is 3 hours away.) Ideally, I'd like to learn German well enough to write and interview in the language as well. I'm hoping to relocate permanently.

I will have about 5 years of work experience by the time I get there and I have a M.A. in Journalism. I might also consider going over there on a Ph.D. program in Communications studies, if that's possible, but I'd probably have to pass something akin to TOEFL.

Anxiety About Visa and Flight(s)
I'm going to be an au pair for a family in Switzerland. The date I plan to depart is May 30th (the end of this month). It's been 3 weeks since I sent my visa application, and I'm still waiting to get it.

I'm in a bit of a stump. You see, when I filled out my visa application, one section asked me of any other places (flight-wise) that I'd be stopping at. I put London-Heathrow (presuming/planning to do that). I've been looking periodically on Expedia for flights. Though I can just afford the flight(s) that stop at Heathrow before getting to Geneva's airport--there is another flight that stops in Copenhagen, Denmark, which costs nearly half of that of the Heathrow one. I want to find out if I would be wrong to take the Copenhagen one (for the sake of having to spend less, just in case) despite having written Heathrow on the application.

I sent e-mails to the valid departments of the General Swiss Consulate today to inquire about that. I wish I had thought to mention that on Friday when I called the Consulate. I called to mention that my host family got my permit from the Swiss authorities (and they said I'd be good to book my flight) but that I have yet to get my visa in the post. The Consulate said I would be safe to book my flight now and that if I don't get my visa by next week to call them. They also asked if I could ask my host family for a PDF (or something of that nature) to have as (I'm presuming) a copy/proof and have them send it to me. I e-mailed my host mother yesterday and am waiting to hear back from her; she will be back from holiday on Monday (but did say she'd have access to her e-mail--I think--through her husband's phone or something).

In short, I have quite a bit of things to consider. I don't want to do the wrong thing/end up getting busted for going with a different flight/stopping point--on the way to my planned destination--than I had written on my application. Should I just go through with booking a flight that stops in London, since I put it down on paper? Or should I consider the other factors/possibilities? I didn't mention the Denmark option to the Consulate, but I did get the "okay" (for booking) from my host family, the Consulate, and one of my closest friends (who has some insight).

Any insight/advice is appreciated.

Desparate to Leave the States
Hi.

I was planning to attend uni. in Wales, but due to my parents' dishonesty and deciding not to support me financially--in addition to the constant manipulation and verbal/emotional/psychological abuse I get from them--I have to finish my undergraduate studies in the states (which I want to leave for many reasons) and I should have enough money (from my current job) saved by then.

I can't rely on my dad anymore because he's wealthy (which I'm ashamed of due to his greedy attitude that goes with it), miserly, manipulative and dishonest. I can't rely on my mom either because she's weak (to my dad--my parents are divorced by the way), dependent on using him for finances, manipulative, etc. I have no chance (besides persuing education in the states--within the colleges they're okay with) with having any other support from them unless they know everything personal about me, despite that I'm legally an adult.

I'll be talking with my uncle soon, who's always been very nice/empathetic, and am hoping that perhaps he'd let me stay with him, my aunt, and my cousin while I'm still in the states/attending college.

I'm going to consult with the local British Council in my area to obtain honest/unbiased information on what I can do, what I am/am not doing correctly, and other advice. I know many people in the UK--particularly the country Wales. My ex and his family are a "surrogate family" to me and have helped me through so much, when I stayed with them last summer as well as when my tourist visa expired/when I had to fly back to the states.

The only possible way (that would work for me) that I know of, for me to live in the UK, would be to get a job and live there through a work visa. Sponsorship may also be necessary. I'd be willing to do almost any job in the UK as at least "a foot in the door", so to speak.

If I could have any help/advice as to how to get a work visa and live in the UK, as well as jobs that are often needed and given to people from the states, I would really appreciate it.

I want to leave the states for many reasons.

Is it easier or harder to get visas as a family unit?
My fiancee is Australian and I am planning to move there after I complete my degree, possibly as a student at first. My parents apparently have been discussing the eventual departure and asked me today how I felt about them going too.

We are all adults in good health, my parents are in their early 60's. They have a comfortable retirement income from my dad's two pensions; their house is paid off and worth a signifigant sum. Would it be beneficial for us to pool our resources and skill sets to better our chances of a (relatively) speedy visa? They want to wait until my grandmothers pass on (in their late 80s but still quite healthy) but they are serious. We were a military family, my parents will handle moving to another country at their age well - and they do plan to make visits before deciding on what area they would like to relocate to.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience similar to this?

Hello fellow emigrés and future emigrés
I am currently neck deep in the clinging muck that is the redder-than-red, Bible Belt state of South Carolina, and am starting to actively pursue emigration plans. I've gotten high pass marks on the Canadian immigration site in the "skilled worker" category, and we have tentatively settled on Toronto (or the Toronto area) as our goal. I had originally looked at Montreal, but spouse doesn't speak French, so Toronto is a better choice. Any thoughts, ideas, advice? How long does the process take? I'm trying to get an idea of our time frame.

Wanna See him gone?
http://bloodyhearts.com/

Take the image from this site and plaster it on every telephone/light pole in your city. We did it last weekend, most of them were gone in a few days, but we are going to put up 1000 this weekend instead of 600.

Have them wake up the next day to see how many people don't want him around!

Pardon the odd question...
...but, does anyone know how someone of light assets would go about leaving the US, preferably without being noticed too much? I have reached a point of diminishing returns where I am, and I need to move on. In, like, 2 or 3 weeks.

Yes, I'm serious. I'm asking because I'd rather be embarassed and get some good info than keep my ego and screw up on something simple.

Thanks. :-)

a question about airfare...
Since I'll need this info eventually..

A question for all you jet setters out there..

What's the secret to getting the best airfare price? I checked Expedia.com just to get an idea of what fares are running these days..

wow.. $2,200+ for 1 way.. but $900 or less for round trip? what's the deal with that?

How long is a round trip ticket good for? Or more to the point.. How long *can* they be made to be good for? and does that affect the price?

Ideally.. if I can get a cheap round trip fare to Germany.. good for a year.. but useable anytime.. and I feel I'm not going to "make it" living in Germany.. then I can hop a plane anytime back to the US..

ideas? thoughts?

A bit of a spelling correction...
It should be "soon to be expatriates". I will probably always be a patriot.
