Follow along as the Starman recaps tonight’s NXT Great American Bash live event, which takes place at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

A view of Orlando and wrestlers arriving to the Performance Center earlier in the day starts off tonight’s broadcast. A hype video that recaps tonight’s match is aired and welcomes us to the event that kicks off summer, the Great American Bash. The announce team for tonight’s event is Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett.
Match 1: Tony D’Angelo vs. Naraku (NXT Championship)
Tony D’Angelo makes his way to the ring with a bandage around his head and covering his right eye due to the fireball attack from Naraku. The bell rings and the two quickly go out to the floor and D’Angelo spears Naraku through the wall near the ringside area. The fight returns to the ring, where Naraku goes after D’Angelo’s eye and he rolls out to the floor. The referee looks to stop the match, but D’Angelo doesn’t let him do it. Naraku continues on the attack and focuses on D’Angelo’s eye and picks up a couple of near falls as we head into a commercial break.
The match continues on the floor as Naraku sends D’Angelo into a guard railing and picks up another near fall in the ring. D’Angelo is finally able to counter Naraku’s offense and takes him down with a powerbomb. D’Angelo follows with a bulldog and a couple of German suplexes before picking up a near fall after dropping Naraku with a power slam. D’Angelo then drops Naraku with Dead to Rights and picks up the pin fall to retain the NXT Championship.
Winner: Tony D’Angelo defeated Naraku by pin fall to retain the NXT Championship.
A video package that hypes the upcoming match between Zaria and Tatum Paxley for the NXT Women’s North American Championship is aired, which will come to us after the commercial break.

Match 2: Tatum Paxley vs. Zaria (NXT Women’s North American Championship)
Tatum and Zaria fight over the belt and Tatum goes on the attack as the bell rings. Zaria is quick to gain control of the match and begins tossing Tatum around the ring. Zaria then connects with a headbutt and Tatum rolls out to the floor to regroup. Zaria follows out to the apron and Tatum is able to get Zaria between the ring apron and connects with a few kicks before locking Zaria in a headlock, which Zaria is able to break by falling back onto the floor. The referee goes out to check on Tatum as the show heads into a commercial break.
The match continues as Zaria is still in control, but Tatum is able to gain some momentum after hitting a cross body block from the top rope. Tatum follows with a suplex from the top rope, however, Zaria is able to come back with a spear to take out both wrestlers. The two get to their feet and trade blows and begin fighting in the corner. Tatum hangs Zaria up in the corner and begins heading to the opposite top rope, but Zaria is able to pull herself up from the corner. The two then meet at the middle of the ring apron and Tatum sends Zaria down to the floor with a powerbomb.
Tatum then goes over and grabs the title, which Zaria takes away from her. Tatum rolls Zaria back into the ring and hits the Cemetery Drive, but Zaria kicks out of the pin attempt. Tatum tries for another one, but Zaria counters the move and hits a spear and a F5 for a near fall of her own. Zaria then hits a curb stomp and another F5 to pick up the pin fall to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Winner: Zaria defeated Tatum Paxley by pin fall to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair are in the locker room talking each other up for their upcoming matches. The announce team then hype the grudge match between Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels, which is coming up after the commercial break.
The Vanity Project are backstage with Robert Stone where Stone tells them they will be busy on Tuesday as Jackson Drake will be going against Mason Rook. Also, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno.
We head out to the NXT watch party where Blake Howard is with Kevin Owens and Dave LaGreca who talk about the first two matches of the night and talk about how there hasn’t been any title changes yet, but three more titles are on the line tonight.
Match 3: Shiloh Hill vs. Tristan Angels
Tristan Angels is wearing the Mr. NXT sash that he took from Shiloh Hill. The two quickly go at it as Hill put Angels into the airplane spin, but Angels is able to gain control of the match as we head into a commercial break.
The match continues as we see Hill hide under the ring. Angels goes out to the floor as Hill drags him under. The lights then go out as we see Angels under the ring. A phone starts ringing and Angels answers it. A voice says “the fog is coming. The fog is here.” as a masked Hill puts him in a headlock. Angels is able to escape, but Hill is suddenly behind him and puts him in another headlock in the ringside area. Angels is able to get away from Hill’s attack and sets up the steps near the middle of the ringside area. Angels then throws Hill into the ring ropes as we head into a commercial break.
We head back to the match where Hill uses the steps to spear Angels through the ropes. Hill then hits Whisper of the Beast on Angels and picks up the pin fall.
Winner: Shiloh Hill defeated Tristan Angels by pin fall.
Emily Agard joins Shiloh Hill ringside who talks about getting his first PLE singles victory and that nobody should sleep on Shiloh Hill.
Nattie Neidhart is backstage with Nikita Lyons, Karmen Petrovic, and Layla Diggs, and tells them that she doesn’t want soft women in her business and Jaida Parker has gotten soft. Karmen says she will handle her on Tuesday.
Robert Stone is with EK Prosper who says he will be getting a shot at the AAA Latin American Championship against Vikingo on Tuesday.
Match 4: Arianna Grace vs. Wren Sinclair (WWE Women’s Speed Championship)
This Speed Championship match will be given a five minute time limit. Grace is accompanied to the ring by the members of Birthright. The bell rings as Sinclair picks up a quick two count about 30 seconds into the match. Grace is able to counter with a swinging neckbreaker and picks up a near fall of her own. The fight goes out to the floor where Grace sends Sinclair into the side of the ring and rolls her back into ring. Grace continues on the attack and picks up a one count on Sinclair with half of the time expired.
The two fight on the middle rope with Sinclair sending Grace down to the mat. Sinclair then follows with a series of strikes as Charlie Dempsey tries to distract her on the ring apron, which allows Grace to roll her up for a near fall. Sinclair then locks Grace in the Final Wrench and gets Grace to submit to retain the WWE Women’s Speed Championship with 15 seconds left on the clock.
Winner: Wren Sinclair defeated Arianna Grace by submission to retain the WWE Women’s Speed Championship.
A video package highlighting DarkState and the group turning on Saquon Shugars is aired. The match between Dion Lennox and Saquon Shugars will be meeting one on one after the commercial break.
Match 5: Dion Lennox vs. Saquon Shugars
Dion Lennox comes to the ring without the rest of DarkState, while Saquon Shugars comes to the ring with a baseball bat. The match starts and the two begin beating each other with strikes and kicks. Shugars picks up the first pin attempt but Lennox is able to quickly turn the match around with a back drop. Lennox begins to focus on the back of Shugars, but Shugars is able to take Lennox out with a neckbreaker. Osiris Griffin and Cutler James make their way to the ringside area and distract Shugers to allow Lennox to regain control of the match as we head into a commercial break.
The match continues as Shugars picks up a few quick near fall attempts before Lennox takes him out with a spinebuster for a near fall of his own. Shugars is able to go back on the offensive and picks up a near fall after a back breaker and Flatliner combo. Shugars then hits a springboard leg drop for another pin attempt. Lennox then hangs Shugars up on the ropes and slams Shugars onto the top turnbuckle that makes Shugars fall out to the floor.
Back in the ring, Lennox hits a couple of clothesline on Shugars to pick up a near fall. Shugars is able to regain control as Lennox just drops to the mat. Shugars than hits a reverse splash from the top rope to pick up the pin fall. His celebration is cut short as the rest of DarkState comes into the ring and attacks Shugars. Lennox then grabs the baseball bat and attacks Shugars with it and leave him lying in the ring.
Winner: Saquon Shugars defeated Dion Lennox by pin fall.
The announce team hypes the NXT North American Championship match between Myles Borne and Tavion Heights, which is coming up after the commercial break.
Emily Agard is backstage with Tatum Paxley who says she feels empty without the Women’s North American Championship. Kelani Jordan comes out and tells her to get over it. Kelani says she is constantly overlooked by people like her and calls her pathetic. Tatum snaps and attacks Kelani until officials separate them.
Match 6: Tavion Heights vs. Myles Borne (NXT North American Championship)
The bell rings as the two grapple for the advantage in the opening moments of the match. The two trade pin attempts, before Heights connects with a headbutt that take them both down. Borne knocks Heights out to the floor and the two exchange some words as we head into a commercial break.
We return to the match to see Heights tossing Borne around the ring with a couple of slams and picking up a two count. Heights continues to wear Borne down with submission holds that focuses on Borne’s arms and dumps him out to the floor. Heights rolls Borne back into the ring and picks up another near fall after hitting a suplex on Borne and the match goes into another commercial break.
The match continues to see Borne in control and picks up a near fall. Borne clotheslines Heights out to the floor where Heights tosses Borne to the floor with a belly to belly suplex. Back in the ring, Heights connects with a frog splash, but Borne is able to kick out of the pin attempt. Heights then sets up Borne on his shoulders and Borne counters into the Borne Again to finally pick up the pin fall to retain the NXT North American Championship.
Heights gets up a shakes Borne’s hand after the match and leaves the ring as Borne celebrates. Emily Agard catches up with Borne who says Heights pushed him tonight to be a better champion. Borne says Heights will be a champion someday, but not tonight, as Borne promises to hold the NXT North American Championship for a long, long time.
Winner: Myles Borne defeated Tavion Heights by pin fall to retain the NXT North American Championship.
Lola Vice is seen putting tape around her hands in a stairwell as we head into a commercial break.
The announce team hype NXT Heatwave, which will air on August 30th, which will feature two shows back to back with AAA and NXT.
We head back out to the NXT watch party where Dave LaGreca predicts that Kendal Grey will become the new NXT Women’s Champion, while Kevin Owens thinks Lola Vice will retain. Hank and Tank join the group who hype the championship matches that will take place this Tuesday on NXT. Keanu Carver comes out to crash the party and shoves a security guard into Hank, who falls off the stage and goes through a table.
A video package highlighting Lola Vice winning the NXT Women’s Championship and how Kendal Grey proved herself worthy of a title shot is aired. The two competitors are seen walking in the backstage area as we head into a commercial break.
Match 7: Kendal Grey vs. Lola Vice (NXT Women’s Championship)
The match starts as the two start grappling for a moment, before Vice tries to lock Grey in an armbar, but Grey is able to escape. The two go back and forth until Vice gains the advantage with a well placed kick to the face. Vice takes Grey down with a series of arm drags until Grey finally counters one with a headlock takedown. The fight goes out to the floor where Kelani Jordon comes out and is quickly followed by Wren Sinclair, who stops her from interfering. The distraction allows Vice to take Grey out on the floor as we head into a commercial break.
The match continues with Vice hitting Grey with a series of quick kicks that knocks Grey into the corner. Vice follows with a suplex, but Grey follows with a German suplex of her own. Grey then takes down the straps and begins tossing Vice around the ring. The two trade off with German suplexes before trading strikes and kicks in the middle of the ring. Vice finally lands a kick that sends Grey out to the floor. The two fight on the floor until Grey takes Vice out with the Shades of Grey from the guard railing.
Grey rolls Vice into the ring and locks Vice into the ankle lock. Vice is able to roll through and puts Grey into an ankle lock of her own. Vice tries to pin Grey, but Grey tries to reverse it into an armbar. Vice is able to escape and tries to put Grey into an armbar until Grey turns it into a pin attempt. Vice then puts Grey into a rear naked choke, but Grey counters with a pin attempt and then locks in her own rear naked choke, but Vice is able to get her to break the hold. Grey then misses with a moonsault and Vice connects with a kick for a near fall.
Vice then locks Grey in a guillotine choke, but Grey counters into a pin attempt for a near fall. Vice then locks Grey into a triangle choke, which Grey again reverses into a pin attempt. The two then trade spinning backfists and drape arms over each other and kick out of the pin attempts at the same time. The crowd starts a “This is awesome!” chant as the two trade blows in the middle of the ring. Grey finally hits Shades of Grey off the middle turnbuckle and picks up the pin fall to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Winner: Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice by pin fall to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Wren Sinclair runs out to the ring to congratulate Kendal Grey as Lola Vice watches them celebrate from the entrance ramp. Grey then celebrates with the fans at the Performance Center as NXT Great American Bash comes to a close.
