The Cardigans are a Swedish Rock Band that formed in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1992. (The duration of them releasing music is 1992-2006, then after a five-year break of the whole band, they reunited to perform live.)
The current members are guitarist Oskar Humlebo (since 2012), bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and lead singer Nina Persson. Before 2012, guitarist Peter Svensson was a part of The Cardigans.
Most of the band had/has side projects, with Svensson being ½ of “Paus”, Persson being 1/3 of “A Camp”, Lagerberg and Johansson with Brothers Of End and Sveningsson releasing singles under the moniker “Righteous Boy”
The band debuted with the album “Emmerdale” (with the singles “Rise & Shine”, “Black Letter Day” and “Sick & Tired) in 1994, gaining a solid fanbase within Sweden and internationally as well.
They released their Sophomore album "Life” (with the singles “Carnival” and “Hey! Get Out of My Way”) in 1995 secured them an international reputation.
They started rising instantly in popularity as soon as they released “Lovefool”, the first single from their third album “First Band on the Moon” (with the other two singles “Been It” and “Your New Cuckoo”) which has been released in 1996.
After that, they then released their forth album, “Gran Turismo” (with the singles “My Favourite Game”, “Erase/Rewind” and “Hanging Around”) in 1998.
Then, after a two-year hiatus in the band. They released their fifth album “Long Gone Before Daylight” (with the singles “For What It’s Worth”, “You’re the Storm” and “Live and Learn”) in 2003.
And lastly, they released their sixth and final album “Super Extra Gravity” (with the singles “I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to Be Nicer” and “Don’t Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds)”.)
