spirituality versus religion

I really feel that religion is created with collective spirituality in mind, but when we humans attempt this, at least at our current evolution, we tend to get fixated on the egotistical, mental, social, and forget that an individual in a group is not going to have the same cathartic reaction as the rest of the group. The group identity blows away the individual's realization as something not attuned to the group think idea. This is why, even after study, I cannot be Christian, cannot be Wiccan, cannot be mainstream Pagan, not Jewish, Islamic, Catholic, Taoist, Buddhist, Zen, even Tantric, because, as disorderly as Tantric is, there is still a degree of group think. I cannot be any of the cultural variant religions, because it is so individualized for me...I can relate by describing it as a similar sensation, when one man or woman sees God and angels a protective barrier against temptation, I see the vastness of the possibilities in the universe and am reminded of patience. They both have the same end..markredmond's comment holds true for the experience of spirit through religion as i have insofar experienced it.. That is a very universalist view point. I am not a universalist either, though I lean that direction sometimes, but I lean a lot of directions at once.

Why not just belong t the ordered chaos of the whole shebang?
Because then we would be happy, and really bored.

Split Personality - by P!nk

Hmm ooh
I do not trust
So I can not love
(Uh can't no man be trusted)
Oh no no no
And I will not dare
To open up
(This is dusted Pink)

Well my rent's passed due
And now my car won't start
I hate the bus
(Aren't you glad you have somebody to talk to?)
Tell me what do they see
When they look at me
Do they see my many personalities oh no?

1 Can you help me?
Can anybody hear me?
Can they even see me?
This is my reality, oh no

To read the rest...Collapse )

we may not neccessarily have split personalities, but sometimes it feels that way. being torn between this and that, the past and the future, the pain and the healing, who we are, what we want to be, and how others want to see us and want us to be...

I agree with what you are saying, to a certain extent. I think that for the most part, this has less to do with group-dynamics than with the inherent "laziness" of most humans. I put laziness in…

We are a social creature. We invent ways to be a group of people coexisting, including ceremonies, ritual beleif, etc. Humans, when they are in a group, are not very strong willed. Their will goes…
