I can get deep into discussion about characterization or I can set that aside to help you execute your particular vision. I can be the cheerleader screaming encouragement, the editor absolutely blanketing your pages in red, or both. Whatever works for you. I want it to be a good experience for both of us, and I want you to publish something that you're proud of.

Here's some random information about the cultural knowledge/experiences I have that may be helpful to you. My English instincts are American (I tend to choose color over colour, etc). I know a fair bit about taking care of babies and toddlers (wahey, kidfic!), US national politics, small college-in-the-middle-of-a-cornfield life, being raised (& closeted) in an evangelical protestant church, and acting as caretaker to a seriously ill person. Can sensitivity read for Chinese diaspora characters, but probably only if they're third-generation or onward, due to my lack of language skills. I've also kept my eye on conversations about Asian stereotypes and depictions of Asians in US media for some time now. Maybe some of that is of use to you! But maybe it isn't. Maybe your fic is a War of the Roses AU with dragons, or a story about a post-apocalyptic sedoretu. In that case, we'll still have a grand time. I genuinely enjoy editing and I've got semi-legal access to JSTOR just in case of emergencies. ;) If you've got any additional questions, let me know!
