So obvious a rule it needn't even be numbered: Use this application to apply within 48 hours of joining the community. We periodically remove lurkers.
Rule 1. You have to be a gay man or straight woman. Standard fag/hag concept. However, if you don't fit into those categories, you aren't aced out yet--you can still be fab--though you'll have to work extra hard to prove how fabulous you are and we may make an exception.
Rule 2. No personal ads. This is so not a 'find a date' community! It never works like that, anyhow.
Rule 3. You have to post at least THREE (3) recognizable photos of yourself. More is usually better--and if you want to post artsy crap or photos where your face or body (one or the other) are not clear, then those photos must be in ADDITION to the aforementioned three. You must include your face, and you'll get more points if we can see your body--but you may also lose points if you are too slutty, you just never know. We'll also need a 100x100 thumbnail of you, either desaturated/grayscale or colorized (one hue), non-animated. (If you can't make one, or don't know how to do this, you can ask.)
Rule 4. You must fill out the app completely. Answer all questions, and just so that we know you've read the rules you must put "I feel so fab" somewhere in the application!
Rule 5. Use lj-cuts for applications and all photos except thumbnails. Also lj-cut any community advertisements, and label them as community advertisements appropriately. If you can't have basic courtesy in applying, your app/post will be deleted, and you'll have to reapply until you get it right.
Rule 6. Recruit more fab. In your app we will give you extra FabuPoints™ if you link us to a post where you have promoted our community in your own journal, preferably behind a cut, especially if you have done it creatively! This is the only way we'll garner more fab homos and our fab friends!
Rule 7. Don't delete, and you can re-apply in two weeks. You must be stylish, sophisticated, personable, and share similar interests with the group. If we think that any of this statements are jeopardized or untrue we won't hesitate to tell you, so accept criticism with grace and ease! A deleted app will result in being banned from the community! You are eligible to re-apply in 2 weeks after you have improved upon that which the general consensus agreed you needed to, so unlike crappy communities, you are never really "rejected" until you reject yourself by deleting your app!
Rule 8. No gay/straight bashing. We've got lots of other things to do and talk about, and feeding hate is never the answer! Psychological issues and discussions of our feelings is one thing, but outright bashing is another. Keep things in context as best you can and we'll be fine.
Rule 9. Majority rules. Any proposed amendments to these rules, the application, or the scoring process have to come to a community vote and be appropriately formatted as a motion that must be seconded, and your maintainers/moderators will then call a community vote. So, yes, it is a democracy/republic, which is only fair! And fabulous!
Rule 10. You know your mods rock. Don't be afraid to tell them!
Our general guideline/mission statement: We don't consider this a standard community, or a "rating community," we are a group of people finding each other and enriching each others' lives through networking. We're far more than that. The rating is something that we do to ensure we get the best people in here... what we want are intellectual discussions, advice columns, new places to shop, discussion of fashion, fine cuisine, new experiences, and just life! We want to find a calibre of member that realizes there is more to our group than just rating or rejecting each other, it is about finding each other and being a part of a whole.
