11:44 pm - eMentors and Phoenix Rising
|

Hi everyone!
There's much excitement building up in, around and outside of fandom with the imminent release of Book 7 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as well as the film release of Order of the Phoenix! Along with that excitement, Phoenix Rising draws ever closer - just under three months away - to be held in May 2007 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Phoenix Rising site can be found here: http://www.thephoenixrises.org
We're posting to inform current and former eMentors (cheesy though it may be - once an eMentor, always an eMentor) of the current eMentors' project. We're aiming for the Quidditch team sponsorship which is $500 (custom history and logo to be created and included!). If we can raise $300, the additional $200 will be covered for us. We've well raised over $300 for The Witching Hour, so I know we can do this. We didn't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to participate if they choose to.
Friday, February 23 is the last day of our official drive - though that doesn't give you much time to consider this, we would unofficially extend it for you if you have any interest in helping out. This is open to current eMentors (who have pitched in to help us reach our current amount), former eMentors and the general fandom to see if we could at least reach the current goal of $300 to represent ourselves in spirit for those unable to attend and be a strong presence at Phoenix Rising.
So help donate if you can! Every single dollar that can be spared can help us reach that goal of $300! However you may participate in fandom and despite our differences, it doesn't matter as we come together - united by our love of JKR's world - to help support Phoenix Rising and continue to pave the way for future conferences!
The eMentor logo was designed by the wonderfully talented inthesewalls (Xander), and it can be found uder the cut.
( eMentor LogoCollapse )
Please post should you have an interest and we'll provide you with a snail mail/paypal address... or even just to say "Hi" as it's been some time. :) You can also email me at chessie_reeves[at]livejournal[dot]com if you like.

So we have an update on Fandomopoly at The Witching Hour, and so far we've collected $278. *throws confetti*
Just fantastic, and while we had a reach goal of collecting $350, we think that rounding it off to around $300 would be awesome and this is where you come into the picture. That's just $22 more dollars!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Think about it!!
Cheers to those who have helped us out so far! We appreciate that greatly.
As a reminder, June 25th is the last day of our official drive... This is open to current eMentors, former eMentors and the general fandom to see if we could reach the current goal of $300 to represent ourselves in spirit for those unable to attend and be a strong presence at The Witching Hour.

Just think of how exciting it would be to know that we made a difference at The Witching Hour!! The same way we make a difference everyday at FictionAlley!
Cheers,

You may or may not have heard about Fandomopoly at The Witching Hour, but the FictionAlley eMentors are pleased to inform you that we are currently working towards a goal for a sponsorship presence at The Witching Hour in Salem, MA this October.
We've done some internal collections for the past month and will collect approximately $175 in total. Cheers to our current eMentors!
Now we are opening up our collections to former eMentors and the general fandom to see if we could reach a suitable goal to represent ourselves in spirit for those unable to attend. We're going to see if we can double what we will have collected so far and make it to $350!
June 25th is the last day of our official drive... and we cannot wait to show the fandom that the FA eMentors, from those who were eMentors, those who had help from eMentors, and those who are willing to show their support, will be a strong presence at The Witching Hour.

Hey people!
There are lots of names on the member list of this community which I don't recognise. If you're a newbie E-mentor (or even an oldbie) then why not intorduce yourselves? I'd like to match up people's LJ user names to their yahoo IDs.

Hey there everyone! I'm new here so I'm not sure what's going on. Actually I'm not a Fictionalley mod or ementor but I would like to be. I'd really like to help out so I'm wondering how to join. I've read somewhere that you need Nifflers only for the moment so I guess I'll work on that for a while. But please post something back!
Cheers, Alyssa

Have you guys ever been on the internet and then thought, "There's nothing to do!" Which is pretty funny, considering the billions upon billions of websites you could visit. There's 3 or 4 sites I go to every time I go online, and then I get bored. It's weird...
Here's an odd story. I have a friend. I'm not going to reveal his true name, things have a weird way of getting back to me. Let's call him Jim :p Now, Jim and I are the best kind of friends, even though we've only been truly been hanging out more the past couple of months. Now, just fyi, I am not looking for a romantic relationship in my life right now. In fact, I don't plan on dating again until it's the person I'm going to end up marrying (a whole 'nother story). So, even though we might be extremely good in a relationship, it wasn't going to happen. But...the mind is what it is...and my thoughts did occasionlly wander to that possibility. And the thing is, we are so great together, I just sort of assumed he didn't have a girlfriend. But one day I noticed a necklace he wears, it's half a hear with a Bible verse on it. Now, guys don't usually wear hearts unless there's a reason :p So, to make a long story short - turns out he has a girlfriend in Austrailia (we live on the East coast US)!?!?!?! AND it gets better - he met her online, and apparently they've been "going out" for almost 4 years now. *nods* Yep.

Odds are I should be working on my paper, not messing about online. But when it's a dreary day and you feel icky, who wants to go further into a dark hole by reading and writing about alcohol addiction.
We need to figure out what to post here. Is this just a community for people to randomly post (as I just did), or do we have a more specific purpose? Or should we all go away and actually do work?
Poo.
Love, Ray/Rachel

Great idea! I have been wanting to read everyone else's LJ (aside from the loffly ones I already have on my friends list) but not everyone has them listed on their contact info. And I'm rambling and off to bed ;)

eMentors rule! Loffly idea. :)
Oh and yes, Sabs here - I just got back about oh 3 hours ago from being a fan at the NYC premiere - much fangirling was had - oy the headache is still with me - but in looking back, so worth it! More about it in my LJ if you're bored. It's sort of coherent I think - will try to edit it later-later *lol*
Now, I must be off - looking forward to getting to know you bunch more ;) and also if any eMentor needs a code for LJ do give a holler, I have a bunch too. :)
*waves* ~Sabs who is off to do some work now that she is back in her dorm after spending the earlier part of day out at the premiere - RL? What RL? ;)
