Medium/Tools: Wacom tablet, Gimp, textures (here and here)

Notes: A few weeks ago, I was driving home through the mountains just as the sun was setting. That's my favorite time of day, because I love the way the tree limbs become so perfectly silhouetted against the sky in the fading light. On this particular evening, my iPod shuffled up "Starshine" by Gorillaz, and it fit my mood and the scenery so thoroughly that I wound up listening to it on repeat for the rest of the drive. I can't say that I definitely captured my mood that night with this piece, but it was the starting point for my inspiration-- and honestly, I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out!

Hello everyone! It looks like it's time for our very first [ official ] mod post. Who's excited?

First and foremost, I'm happy to announce that our very first assignment sign-up is going live this Wednesday. The post will remain open for three days, so you will have until Saturday, May 1st to sign up. Further details will be posted on Wednesday, so keep your eyes open!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new members [ and, of course, remind everyone to go ahead and fill out our new Member Survey ]. Thank you so much for joining, really! Without you, this community is quite literally nothing. I'm excited to see what we all can achieve together in the name of art.
