Went to a party to celebrate a birthday today and Erik brought up the point that he still reads Ashley's livejournal. This fact alone makes me inspired to post here.

I stopped because I thought other alternatives would be better. I did a blogspot, tumblr, wordpress, vox (before it became something else), and some other stuff that I can't of. Does facebook count? Twitter? Streaming? I've put some stuff up on there before and people read it.

I'm also suffering from some tremendous fear of being creative as well as mixture of being anxious and lazy. I hate plans to paint a picture, but I got strung up in other activities. On top of that I enjoy doing stuff like painting and writing, if I have other people to work around. Perhaps I'm have a bit of narcissism, but there are things I enjoy doing myself, and things I enjoy doing around other people.

Either way, I need to get back into it. I have to.

I cross posted this to crits.org because it was getting more like a gaming article.

My opinion,having read 2 out of the 3 articles i've linked to is that the gaming industry is a big dumb place with lots of dumb people.

Game developers are assholes
Game journalists are assholes
Gamers are assholes

If you believe that game developers and game journalists are nice people, then let me carefully point out that both are probably gamers as well, and since we are generalizing then it's safe to say that all 3 are assholes.

The majority of what has been said is pretty dumb. I don't really give a fuck about Phil Fish, but I do know that whenever you make a dumb comment like "Japanese games are bad" you end up with people who like Japanese games on your doorstep complaining about your opinion.

This is the age old problem of any kind of debate. People get very passionate and say really dumb things on a regular basis. Shit escalates and then we get death threats being thrown around. This is the nature of humanity. We are a very dumb race of beings if we cannot politely let someone have their opinion, even if we think they are wrong.

I wish to add that I no longer say "I am a Gamer", but just a person who plays videogames on an frequent basis. I guess I'm simply not hardcore enough anymore for this truly intense scene.

I might start writing in this thing again now. I know my wife has used it to keep track of her 5k run and all her progress with that. I might start using this for a similar purpose I guess. I just wish I could get rid of the stupid name :D

It's really over this time! I really don't intend to use this anymore. I visited my friends page recently and got bombed with an ad that basically hijacked the page, so fuck it. In responce to this, I've decided to make a tumblr. This will be the website where I'll be dumping all my stuff from now on. I use crits.org for writing my gaming stuff, but other than that... I've never had a good place to drop work.

Oh yeah, I'm in America for good now.

Quick round up of my life so far.

Going to Ireland in about an hour.
Coming back on Friday.
Then a week off to sort out stuff like packing and whatever else.
Then on June 7th, I head down to London and stop over the night.
June 8th is the interview itself... scary! We've invested so much time in getting this all right, and we've made a bunch of decisions to make sure it'll be easy!
Somewhere in all this, there's meant to be a Stag Night. I just wish I knew exactly what he had planned.

Theeeeeeen~, I have another couple of weeks to wait before I fly to America to finally be with Ashley!

That's about as much as I really know that's happening for sure, for now. I haven't got a clear view of everything on the other side of America yet.

That's a round up of my life for the next few months, and probably the most planned i've been for a while. Now i'm off, bye bye :D

I've become less enchanted with my livejournal as of late. I used to see a point to using this thing because I saw it as a great way to both read up on how friends are doing and dump some of my thoughts (which usually was about games). The only real reason I check it is to see what Ashley is going to say, but I basically know in advance... so I really just don't see the point in this.

To be honest, I just don't give a crap about this anymore. I've moved on, grown up, and now feel like I want to bury this thing... but I won't, simply out of respect. LiveJournal is a good service, especially for something that is free, but it lacks something.

I've been using Wordpress for about a month and love it so much more. Setting one up isn't too much of a bugbear, and now i've got to knowledge on how to do it effectively.

Now that is out the way, let me get something off my chest.

Mikey, the reason I stopped developing WASD is because I had a massive change in heart with the whole project... and I feel pretty bad for leaving no closure on the subject about it. However, crits.org is going to basically do what WASD was going to do. I can explain a bit more throughly over email if you like, but I think it's better to build on crits.org since I was basically doing the same thing with it.

My new motherboard and processor rock. Good purchase, good timing, good idea!

I had a massive session playing this game... and all I'm going to say is this.

I really REALLY really want to like this game so so much, but it just suffers from so many problems...

Let me quickly go over the problems with the actual game.

1) The weapons are totally screwed. One particular weapon dominates over all.
2) Modding weapons means that you can buff the already insane weapon with damage modifiers that basically make it kill in hardly any time.
3) The missions are boring as hell. Go to point A, press action button, wait.... go to point B. Snooze fest
4) Oh, when you are doing these missions, if you fulfill certain conditions, people can interrupt and kick your ass, so you basically fail. This is alright, but... when the enemy are armed to the teeth with the best gear in the game, it is impossible to win. You simply cannot win, even if you kill them once... it's such a pain in the ass.
5) The game lacks actual character. Don't get me wrong, the visual styling is really well done, but the actual game has no soul. The characters lack any dynamic or anything interesting. Completely forgettable.
6) Unlocking stuff takes forever. I know it's built around an MMORPG, but i'm not spending a stupid amount of time playing this game when there is much much better games I can play.
7)Did I mention balancing issues? It gets worse when you have 2 people in your squad, and then someone interrupts with 5 players... and no one responds to backup.

I'm overlooking the glitches and bugs... because it's beta obviously, but this feels like a massive waste of resources going down the drain. I really wanted to see this game do well, so so much... but it's just impossible to like it anymore.

You know, this has become less about fooling people, and more about who can do the most awesome and hilarious thing. I had a bunch of ideas i wanted to do today, and acted on none of them because I felt like they were too weird and it would just fly over peoples heads. Kinda sad really, today is one of my favorite days of the year as well.

I am a quarter century! So freaking old!
