Question from Christopher Szymborski (19:50, 31 May 2026)

[edit]

Some "Pirate" deleted my father Lee Szymborski, American Session Drummer from the former Band Members in The Chambers Brothers. He needs to be put back in as this is true, and verifiable in YOU TUBE "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHAMBERS BROTHERS?" and also existing citations already in place. Thank You, Chris --Christopher Szymborski (talk) 19:50, 31 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Christopher Szymborski Hi Christopher! Can you link me to a reliable source that documents that he was a member in the band? That way I can go put it back in easily. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:22, 1 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
"BruceBase Wiki American Session Drummer Lee Szymborski", also Youtube "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHAMBERS BROTHERS?" has my father featured very prominently. Thank You for your quick response! Best, Christopher Christopher Szymborski (talk) 04:29, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Christopher Szymborski unfortunately, neither of those qualify as reliable sources (wikis and YouTube are both self published). I'll need a book, magazine, news article, or something of the like. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 04:45, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK Captain, Here is a news article published by the LAS VEGAS SUN "SHOOTING PARK GIVES BACK, THOUGH ITS LOSING MONEY" SUNDAY JULY 11,2011 by Joe Schoenmann "continuing the theme of Southern Nevada Pests, Lee Szymborski read with some interest the Sun's June 28 article about Clark Countys pidgeon control efforts. "Szymborski is the former drummer for The Chambers Brothers band which had a hit in the 1960s with "TIME HAS COME TODAY"(easily googled on the web). Also, [Suburban West Today, July 18 through July 22, 1981], also [Cleveland Plain Dealer].
Best, Chris "Captain Clean" Szymborski Christopher Szymborski (talk) 01:19, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Christopher Szymborski I have added the Las Vegas Sun source. Couldn't find the others though? But yes, he is mentioned in the article. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 01:45, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank You! Best, Chris Christopher Szymborski (talk) 01:50, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please add Lee Szymborski to Past Members of The Chambers Brothers as the Sun verification allows this addition satisfying Wikipedia standards.
Best, Chris Christopher Szymborski (talk) 01:55, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Christopher Szymborski There are a lot of other drummers listed on the page but that aren't listed in the infobox, so I'm not sure why we'd add Lee? I admit I'm not super knowledgeable about music articles, but bands tend to go through drummers/have different drummers on the road, so its not unusual to not list drummers in the infobox. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:23, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
LEE SZYMBORSKI was added as a PAST BANDMEMBER many years ago right under "Brian Keenan" on the WIKIPEDIA PAGE as a FORMER BANDMEMBER as he was hired to replace Brian Keenan, and was listed for many years on The Chambers Brothers WIKI website as such.
The problem just recently arose when an unauthorized editor "all of a sudden" wrongfully deleted it.
Therefore my father should not be deprived of his just credits.
Please put him back in were he rightfully belongs!
Best Regards, Chris Christopher Szymborski (talk) 07:47, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Christopher Szymborski do you have a source for what years he was in the group? That might help. Another Wiki is not a reliable source. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 07:53, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No. Lee szymborski is considered an original member as he has been working closely with The Chambers Brothers in Stamford Conn. 1972-1979 then in los Angeles 1980, 1981.
Lee Szymborski was listed for many years right under Brian Keenan and he needs to be restored. He is also listed as a performer with The Chambers brothers and Bruce Springsteen on "NO NUKES HOLLYWOOD BOWL JUNE 14, 1981." easily pulled up and he is listed as a performer.
Best Regards, Chris Christopher Szymborski (talk) 08:21, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please see the WIKIPEDIA timeline documenting this. Christopher Szymborski (talk) 08:23, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thos ARE self published. PaveTheWayUSA (talk) 03:20, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Christopher Szymborski I know Wikipedia said it before. But that doesn't mean it has to say it now. We tend not to include *every* band member in the infobox. Again, the band seems to have had a number of drummers over the years, so I'm trying to get a sense of how long Lee was their drummer. Do you have a magazine profile of his time in the band or something? If you say it's easily pulled up, can you please provide a link for me? I am just a volunteer and have a lot of other responsibilities. The more info and sources you provide me, the likelier I can help you :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 08:42, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from DocArchitect26 (00:48, 22 June 2026)

[edit]

Hi,

I hope you’re doing well. I was wondering if you might have time to take a look at the few drafts I’ve been working on and give me some guidance before they go through review.

The last time I submitted drafts, they ended up being deleted, and I didn’t really get a chance to understand what needed to be fixed beforehand. I’m still learning, so I’d really appreciate any feedback you can give.

If you notice any issues with the current drafts, would it be possible to let me know before they are deleted, so I have an opportunity to improve them and bring them in line with Wikipedia’s requirements?

Thank you for your time and for any help you can offer. I really appreciate it --DocArchitect26 (talk) 00:48, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Beans on toast

BERJAYA

On 23 June 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Beans on toast, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that beans on toast (example pictured) have variously been referred to as "skinheads", "skins on a raft" and "cowboy's dinner"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Beans on toast. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Beans on toast), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Larry Sanger ban?

[edit]

When can we add him to the category Banned Wikipedia users ??? Guz13 (talk) 01:08, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Guz13 Template:Banned user already puts him in that category. You need to turn on view hidden categories in your settings. But more importantly, you shouldn't be adding that category to people's pages at all. An admin will do it if necessary, which it generally isn't. Otherwise, its usually WP:GRAVEDANCING. Okay I didn't know that at all. Cheers. Guz13 (talk) 01:23, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from TwentyOtters (14:30, 23 June 2026)

[edit]

Hi CaptainEek, I've started doing making some light edits to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standards_for_Educational_and_Psychological_Testing and I have a question about sourcing: The book text is publicly available and I'm imagining much of the future content of the page would use it as a source. The book: https://www.testingstandards.net/open-access-files.html

Would this be considered a reliable source because of the organizations that publish it? --TwentyOtters (talk) 14:30, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@TwentyOtters well it is a reliable source, but the issue is that it is a WP:PRIMARY source about itself. So using it for articles not about itself is different than using it in the article for itself. It should be used only for limited purposes to describe itself. You should find WP:SECONDARY sources about the standards if possible. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 19:16, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
That makes a lot of sense. Thank you! TwentyOtters (talk) 21:12, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I am new to editing Wikipedia and would like to post an article, but am unsure how to create effective citations. Frankly the Wiki instructions are confusing for someone with limited computer training. Thank you for your help, Captain. --2rivers2cities2seas (talk) 18:33, 25 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@2rivers2cities2seas Howdy! What are you looking to write about? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 19:08, 25 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
A building on the US National Register of Historic Places, located in Europe. 2rivers2cities2seas (talk) 02:16, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@2rivers2cities2seas oh, exciting, didn't even know there were such places in Europe. So for citations, I would start with Help:Citations. I've also left you some helpful links on your talkpage. You might also try looking at some other articles to get a sense of how the code works. Take a look at Hillsgrove Covered Bridge as a good example of a NRHP place article. You can also try making a draft article in your sandbox at User:2rivers2cities2seas/sandbox, and if you run into trouble, let me know, and I can help troubleshoot! WikiCup 2026 July newsletter

[edit]

The third round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 28 June at 23:59 (UTC). As a reminder, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, while peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 3 will advance to round 4 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.

Round 3 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points; eight scored over 500; and thirteen scored over 300. The top three contestants had at least one featured article (two of them with two apiece). The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

  • BERJAYA MCE89 (submissions) with 1567 points, mainly from good and featured articles about Australian people and geography, as well as some article reviews
  • Ohio Bgsu98 (submissions) with 1547 points, mainly from good articles, featured articles, featured lists, and a good topic about figure skating, along with 20 article reviews
  • BERJAYA Reconrabbit (submissions) with 1004 points, mainly from a high-multiplier featured article on European rabbit and several good articles, DYKs, and reviews
  • BERJAYA A.Cython (submissions) with 1004 points, mainly from good articles about warfare, along with 22 article reviews
  • BERJAYA Generalissima (submissions) with 859 points, mainly from good and featured articles about rivers and East Asian topics

The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 12 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 7 featured-topic articles, 117 good articles, 74 good-topic articles and more than 30 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 13 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 180 reviews. The tournament points table has been updated.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed in Round 4. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from PaveTheWayUSA (01:40, 1 July 2026)

[edit]

How do I know what to title a citation? --PaveTheWayUSA (talk) 01:40, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@PaveTheWayUSA for general help on citations, see HELP:CITE. As to titling, there are two different principles at play. There is usually a "title=" parameter, and that should be the title of the work. "History of the Civil War" "How to eat an egg" etc. If it doesn't have a title...that's probably not a reliable source, but there are exceptions to the rule. If the work doesn't have a title, I'll sometimes give it a descriptive title. Aside from title, there is also the name of citation (distinct from the author's name), which is used to create unique reference names for re-use, but that's an advanced topic and not something you should have to run into as a new user.
Looking at the edit you made to Astrid Reinla, I think you got the title of the citation right. But the content was already in that article, in an earlier section, so I combined your work and that section. Let me know if you have other questions about citations or what have you, I'm very happy to help :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 03:51, 1 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

@Kritika9334 So you haven't yet edited that page. Some pages are protected from editing unless you have the right permission. You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard

[edit]

Hi, CaptainEek. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Look forward to seeing you there! Mathglot (talk) 06:42, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

LS pages have been malformed.

[edit]

Hi @CaptainEek. In respect to your request for me to cease involvement in the LS case, I'm letting you know that the relevant AN/I pages have been malformed through various edits by a non-admin. I've provided the relevant diffs (1, 2). The bot seems to have mistakenly archived the primary page, and the editor then attempted a fix... which has made the archive page inaccessible. I've followed my own advice per WP:ANICLERK, I'm glad I wasn't the one to have done that. Here's hoping it can be fixed. 11WB (talk) 18:06, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I definetly should get a list on how to write a good article!

Best,

PTWUSA PaveTheWayUSA (talk) 22:06, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@PaveTheWayUSA you can read about "good articles" at WP:GA, paying note to the WP:GACR. It takes a fair bit of work and research to make a good article; I've only made a handful myself, but they're quite rewarding! Otherwise, if you're looking for tips on writing better articles, I'd just start by picking a few topics you're interested in and trying to fill in uncited content; you learn a lot on the way. Another way that works really well is to get a book on a subject that isn't written very well, read the book, and expand the article from the book as you go. There's definitely an art to it so that it's not too long and you don't plagiarize. For example, when I wrote the Gallic Wars, I found a leading book in the field about the wars, and then read it cover to cover and used it to help write the page. A trip to your local library is probably the easiest ticket to writing a better Wikipedia article! CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 22:15, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/77.237.191.125

All his edits are limited to sports, movies, and music (mainly). After his two sports accounts were blocked, he created a third account that only works in the fields of music and movies in his native language (Persian), and the same two fields with the English account. But he uses fake and temporary accounts in the sports field to abuse various users.

I checked his current and previous accounts. Several profanities have been registered. I just ask you to close his account indefinitely first. But not to delete the profanity for now and temporarily. Because I need to notify his native language admins and file an inspection request (duck) as well as find his other unidentified illegal accounts.

From the talk page of his accounts, it is understood that the user has been continuously active on Wikipedia and has repeatedly requested to be opened. This proves that he had other active accounts. He has been able to obtain permission to use the proxy by making numerous edits and gaining trust (abusing trust). In this way, he has been protected from inspection. His permission should also be revoked. If you are willing, I can link to some egregious examples of his profanity. Thank you.Klouim (talk) 05:59, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Klouim you should file this at Mojtaba's sock puppet investigation page. You'll also need to provide some diffs showing why you think they're the same. Also, I didn't make the block, @Vanamonde93 did, so they'd probably be more familiar. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:14, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

First, thank you. Second, I have completed the page with evidence. Third, please, should the user not be blocked for this vulgar and obscene language? In addition, the illegal use of the account is quite obvious. He used the original account to make vulgar language and then edited it with a fake account. You can see the time and date. Using Google Translate, I realized the severity of the obscenity of the language. You can see it too. Just please, do not let the review be ineffective until the end.

@PetiorDzeko2 Ronaldo is world famous, but we don't write about everyone. @L'CAPIN-FEDERATIONS for one, don't speak in all caps. For two, this is Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. We write an encyclopedia here. If you want to help with that, let me know, and I'll help you. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 18:18, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Articles for Creation backlog drive

[edit]
BERJAYA

Hello CaptainEek:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:37, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Parespeare on Tata Tiago (06:45, 23 July 2026)

[edit]

how do I add 2 new images to specifically just the "History" section of the article? --Parespeare (talk) 06:45, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Parespeare adding images is fairly straightforward. Find the image you want to add by looking for a suitable one on Commons, and copy the files name here like so [[File:Cow.jpg|thumb|right|Caption about cow goes here. The section you put that text in is the section the image will render in ... usually. See also Help:Images. Let me know if you have a more specific question about the process :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 06:52, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
i don't really understand, pasting the images like that in text doesn't load it in as an image Parespeare (talk) 08:23, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Parespeare are you using the source editor or the visual editor? Using the visual editor is actually much easier to add and manipulate images. There, all you have to do is press the "insert" button, and select "images and media" and type in the photo you want. You can also then drag photos around, and cut/paste them where you want them to be. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 23:55, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Looking at your contributions, it looks like you tried to do that but it didn't work . The reason it didn't work is because it was wrapped in "nowiki" tags that prevented it from rendering. That can happen sometimes when you paste code into Visual Editor. Just removing the tags in source editor (or by highlighting it in visual editor and removing all formatting) fixes that.
