Another Lucid Dream: First Flight
The entrance into this dream was strange, I remember nothing prior to my recognition that I was dreaming. I was climbing onto a rooftop and knew I was dreaming. I reached the top and took a moment of meditation to center myself in dream. Suddenly, I became a 'cartoon' figure, boxed in by lines. I have been trying to fly in my dreams, but had not been able to do anything beyond long distance jumping and falling. So, I visualized flying and how it might feel while awake. I used Neo from The Matrix as my basis, since his flight was so fast and effortless and easy to visualize in the real world. It was interesting that my first flight occured in a 'comic book' reality, and also a propos I suppose. So, I struck my heroic flight pose and lept from the roof, and I didn't fall. My visualization really helped me to fly, since I now had a sense of what flying felt like, whereas before, my sense of what it felt like to fall was too overpowering. I soared over the suburban rooftops in various poses, but it wasn't as exhilirating or exciting as I'd hoped. Perhaps flight is too common, too easy to visualize for my generation, so that when I achieve it, its like watching a movie. I take for granted that anything can happen. Well, I need a new goal now, something else to work on. Maybe I'll try being a girl next time . . .

My Second Lucid Dream
So I was watching birds swim in a fishtank and I came to the realization that I was dreaming. Using the twirling method, I 'reset' the dream. Everything when black and then an off-kilter kaleidiscope of a woman's face sublimated into existance before my eyes. All the faces began to speak at once, and the disappeared, leaving me in a green and marble room. Learnign from my last dream, I ignored any pressing need to follow the dream's plot, and decided to try flying. I lept two-fisted through a pane and soared into the air, only to fall again. I tried another leap to the same effect. It seemed I didn't believe in my flight enough. Then a flight of green wyverns began to attack me, diving and screaming. I divertd them with my mind so that they were only 'buzzing' me, soaring over my head. Then I awoke.

I have been visualizing myself flying during waking life, in hopes that reinforcement of the image will allow me to perform better on the next occasion. (I have never had a real 'flying' dream, only leaping ones)

in response to mantid's post - I am a 16 year old gay male in little rock, arkansas. I've been interested in the spiritual for about a year now, following a vision which I vew as my divine induction onto this path. I've astral projected maybe twice...I think that's the interest I searched for and found this community with - and I actively practice energy work and I'm looking foreward to meeting some dead people (that sounds weird)...but I'll hopefully be doing it tomorrow - a close friend of mine has just gone public about being a natural medium and spiritualist...I beleive the deceased said hello to me tonight, through channeling, I was caught rather off my gaurd so I'm afraid it was an extremely brief confersation before he left again - I'd be annoyed if I were called up in the parking lot of a bar too...but I'll find out more about that tomorrow (I hope). I'm interested in kabbalah and most other forms of mysticism...and in other news I'm a pacifist and a vegetarian. I'm not sure what else to put here so just ask me any questions you can think of

I would like to welcome our new and unexpected members. As your host I hope I can be successful at moderating and enriching this place with my own experiences and knowledge. I started this community because of my interest in the spiritual and the ways that one as skeptical and intractable as I am might be able to reach it. I didn't actually expect anyone to request membership, and certainly not days after the community's creation. I thought perhaps some friends of mine might notice it in my info and query me, but I expected that it would simply be a place for and record of my private thoughts and journeys. However, I am not displeased by company, and am both flattered by it and aprehensive about moderating a community of (at least temporary) strangers. Thank you for your interest, one and all, and if you wouldn't mind telling me a few things about yourself and also how you found this community (just to slake my curiosity) I would appreciate it. I hope that in the future we can all help one another on our personal journeys into the beyond. I look forward to your experiences, knowledge, and questions, all.

Using practices laid down in a text I borrowed from my mother, I was able to achieve and sustain a lucid state for the first time. My previous attempts had either been foiled by a sudden waking just after the point of consciousness, or by the amnesaic state the dream world can affect on a dreamer. However, even though I remained lucid throughout, I was still for some reason compelled to take part in the 'plot' of my dream. I suppose I figured I shoudl finish what I was doing before I tried flying or changing form or trying to see my true self in a mirror. In any case, my knowledge did help me surmount a chain wire fence while carrying a large snake. What, if anything, this represents, I am without clue, but as a first step I am pleased.

Awaken . . .
Where are you? Who is there? What are you, and who?

Do these questions come to you often? Do you find yourself wondering whether or not you are awake? Perhaps the answer is clearer than all of the rest of that foul gruel they feed you, and never quite fills you. It is all a dream. Understand that, and perhaps you will understand more. When you find yourself waking from what you thought was waking, let me know how it feels. Words may not communicate the slightest sliver of the meaning we hold within ourselves, but maybe we can use this place to arrange a meeting somewhere else. A meeting of spirit and mind, a meeting at last of the known and the absurd where both can meld before our eyes into what we already knew they were. So forget along with me, and remember what you already know.
