I just started playing a D2 mod that is getting popular called Path of Diablo, and it has reminded me of the fun times we had here so long ago. I had to dig out my old email address and recover this account just to say hi. Just in case anyone is still listening...

I'm sort've between games at the moment, there's a tiny slim chance I'll play. Since reformatting my computer I haven't set up all my single-player D2 stuff, so ladder is a remote possibility. |

D2 ladder reset on May 2nd.
One last hurrah before D3, maybe! The first couple of weeks of a season are probably my favourite time in the D2 universe and I bet there are still enough players to keep things interesting. |

Got a noob question about Assassin blade skills. Is the 3/4 weapon damage doing +3/4 on top of the weapons damage or only 3/4 the weapons damage? Am gonna attempt a blade sinner, but before I do I need to know about the 3/4 thing. It could make or break this character.
Also, with shields like Phoenix and armor like Fortitude, will the +percent damage work with the blade skills? |

So am trying out a fire druid after finding a Ravenlore. Am currently level 75, Using basically the same gear as a windy, except the helm.

When I hit 80 I'll use arachnid mesh.
Cta on switch.
Druid torch, anni and 6 Druid GC's
Basically all fire skills exept armageddon. Popped 1 point into oak sage and Grizzly. Didn't use Cyclone armor cause it was too weak.
I know fire isn't the best in hell, but got tired of all the other builds. I've made them ALL before. Trying something new.
Is there a way to make this guy even stronger? The only thing I can think of is if I put a Pheonix weapon and shield on him, but that would make him do less damage while it would make enemy resists go down, but don't think it would be enough. |

Stupid game keeps deleting all my characters in single player. Starting to tick me off something fierce. Any suggestions or should I.just delete the damn game? |

I have a few questions am hoping to get answers to. 1) I've seen a few necro summon builds where people are get might mercs with pride polearms. Do the fanaticism and concentration auras stack?
Also, I saw that people were torn between Pride or Infinity, why not just max Goldman mastery and POP one or the other into an Iron golem with rediculous life and throw the other polearm on a might merc? Then you'd have all three.
Third, I know concentration helps the Palidans magic hammers, but does it also help the necros bone spear and bone spirit? They're also magic. |

I don't care that D2 is just so old, I feel compelled to share.
I've been playing some single player where I really want to get myself some better runes so I can try and make some serious runeword(s). Lower Kurast runs (for special chests) seem like the idiot proof way to go while I'm listening to some TV or podcasts.
I probably had 6 or 7 hours (ugh!) of nothing higher than Fal, but then in a stolen hour when SWTOR was down, Sur. The next time I played D2 I got an Ohm almost immediately, and a Vex around 20 minutes later. 3 HRs in around an hours worth of play... just ridiculous.

Hey folks. If anyone is still reading this, I started up online again. Monday thru Friday usually from about 4pm - 6pm. Am on East ladder, but will switch to West if anyone wants to game together.

Was playing with my wife last night and the Summoner in Hell dropped a Key of Hate.
WTF? Is the PQ enabled now in LAN play or is it just a fluke that it drops? Is the key just worthless in LAN? Why would it even drop? |

With the new ladder will there be a new patch?

There will not be a patch coinciding with the ladder reset happening on September 28, 2010.
The aim of this reset, and all resets, is to refresh the game. Giving that enjoyment of competition in racing to 99, finding an item no one else has yet, or even being the first to slay Andariel. A fresh ladder as you know is really about the rarity of items, a fresh economy, and the fight through the game starting from scratch. Ladder is about challenging yourself. There are obviously going to be people who came in half way or just don’t level as quickly as others, and while we definitely like for everyone to have a good time and feel like they got done what they wanted to, we have to cut it off at some point. Right now six months feels like it’s the right amount of time to keep those racing to 99 appeased, and the economy fresh.
So note:
You will only have 6 months to waste and all your crap goes non-ladder.
Pointless, as you can't find half the gear one needs to get a decent build in that time.
Guess I am going to farm myself ladder to non-ladder gear and play out my D2 retirement in Non-ladder......

Sorry to make two post directly after each other, but after being reminded about kickassins i was wondering how exactly you would build one. So, since i havent played in awhile, please dont kill me from my questions.
So lets go with skills first, since it involves some resist questions.
Shadow Disciplines:
Burst of Speed or Fade? I was thinking Burst of Speed with a couple of Jade Talons? Resist seems to be an issue here (i don't want to count on charms for resist). And if i go with burst, how much? How much in fade is an easier question simply because of the diminishing returns at higher level.
Shadow Master, Should points be wasted? Last time i played i believe that the shadow master was nothing more than a weak tank that did little dmg. But it might be a nice distraction? Maybe i should pour those points into, instead...
Cloak of Shadows. It seems it might help me with a hitting issue that i keep running into. I remember AR was quite valuable with melee and decreasing creatures defenses seems helpful in a round about way.
Weapon Block? This of course is if i want to go full on claws. A nice chance to block vs. having a shield. But does it cause an animation that could slow down my attacking? Also, believe there are some diminishing returns on it as well.
Martial Arts:
Tiger Strike. Should it be my primary charge up skill? And when used with Dragon Talon, does it add that percent dmg to all the kicks or just the first? Ok, well it seems that the charge is used up on the first kick, and all the kicks after are not charged up. So now i wonder what would be the best finisher or charge up... this or pick ONE element and just focus on that and its one synergy.... hmmm.
Cobra Strike. I was thinking i could skip this one and get enough life tap from dracs and some other things so this might not be needed at all.
Dragon Tail. Converts all your dmg to fire. I had one a long time ago that maxed this and i went full out skillers and got it to ridiculous numbers... and did shit in hell. Fun in cows though.
Dragon Flight. Just a couple of points here at the max. Used mainly for teleportation.
Claw of Thunder or Fist of Fire? Just for Physical immunes.
Dragon Talon. This would be my main finisher. Tons of kicks, and at high IAS its fun.
Traps:
Blade Shield lawl? Fun times?
Now for the armor.
Helmet: Veil of Steel
Armor: Fortitude
Belt: String of Ears
Boots: Shadow Dancers for dmg, or up'd Gore Riders for nice bonuses with the same kick dmg.
Gloves: Dracs
Ring 1: Raven Frost
Ring 2: Raven Frost or Bul Kathos
Amulet: Highlords or Maras
Weapons: Here is where it gets complicated. Should i go with two Bartucs socketed with Shael for attack speed and pick Fade for resist? two Jade Talons for resist and Burst of Speed for weapons speed (jades are slow somewhat :( ), or should i go Spirit shield and (insert Weapon). Does the dmg of a grief get added to kicks? Get stormlash for IAS and crushing blow?
The issue im coming up withs is that i dont have that much crushing blow/open wounds. If i try and gear for that, im losing out on resist and IAS. So yeah. Any input is appreciated.

Im starting up again, and i have a few questions.
Is it still best to start a MF character first then build inventory for your true character? Or just go ahead and start with your real character since rune drops are a bit higher?
Was thinking of doing a MA assassin for shits and grins. Are they still useless or have they gotten better? (Full Nats anyone? lawl)
And are Smite paladins still the best Uber slayers?

Hi friends, I realize it's been quite some time since I posted here, and that's because it's been quite some time since I played any D2. However, with WoW content growing a bit stale towards the end of this current expansion a few buddies and I have been playing around a bit and finding ourselves hopelessly addicted once again. In truth I don't know how active the community members here are anymore in terms of actually playing, but I was hoping some old pals might remember me and thusly have some mid-quality mid-level junk stashed away that I might beg or borrow from them.
We're playing on US East, ladder, and I realize the ladder reset a few months ago so I don't expect anyone has a massive cache of wealth to go tossing around (though perhaps I underestimate you guys!), but truly, anything would help a ton. We're running Zeal paladin, Bowazon and fury/WW Barb who also has an up and coming bone/summon necro. I see there are some new runewords Im not familiar with, any suggestions for any good (cheap) items we should look into?

We're just about 70 so that's the neighborhood of gear I'm thinking of, but again I'm not expecting anything, just hoping someone has a mule full of lower stat uniques or half-decent rares they've forgotten about :D

A few questions:
1. Chaos-running. Now that Oblivion Knights have been nerfed into the ground, what're people using to run that place?
2. Nihlathakakaka. Do those snakes still 1-shot stuff?
3. Uber Trist. When I last did that all three dudes were spawned, ready and waiting and spat out adds constantly. The usual way to do it was to walk way around and coax out Meph, kill him first then the other two were easy-sauce. Something I read makes me think a thing or two has changed?
4. Where do you go rune farming these days?
5. How long would I have to vendor-farm to get two bitchin' Trapper claws?

So I am actually playing with *shifter1971 as my east ladder account.
I love the new rune drop numbers.
Currently have found:
OHM from Travincal
SUR from a CHEST in Travincal courtyard area
UM and 2x PUL from countess
GUL from Mephisto.
Currently Level 88 Hammerdin and have myself a nice 40Hoto and Dusk Enigma.
The new Magic Imunity Bug Fix is a real piss off for hammerdins in the second wave of baal runs................

So I killed baal and diablo and found some new items I hadn't seen before. essence of chaos stone thing and another Essence from baal. Mind you I am single player. I keep it and come back in to kill more stuff only my character is basically banned from use! Can't even access it in my Atma files. I think it banned me because am using Plug Y. So I um...."made" a new character and tested it out a couple more times and figured out it was the Essence stones that were the source of my doom. Just letting all you SP folks know not to grab the essence stones.

So I've been killing all the bosses for a looong looong time and have found some of the stuff I am looking for. However, certain items have not dropped and it's driving me crazy. Anyone have a website that shows all the level info on Monsters/Bosses? AND yes I have killed Mephisto and Baal and Diablo several hundred times each! Looked at Arreat Summit, but I think I missed the link or something on there, because I couldn't find it.

for the sheer joy i experienced when while killing izzy in nightmare solo, when my char died in a hostile spot so i left game and rejoined to find that not only had i lost my ex from dying but i also lost my body and all my freaking gear.
i definately didnt nead that spirit, lidless, ancients pledge, goldwrap, frosties, duskdeep noy my rings and ammy as well.
now i hafta go grind for another 2 days to get crap to trade for my gear again.

Well I play some D2 now and then, but have really gotten into it the last week.
I found that my favorite was my necro. It was the first char I played when I bought d2, and I still like it the best all these years later.
Im not really trying to race up the ladder, but have been playing a lot, the rune drops are nice :)
Currently lvl83, named LovingLag (summon necro of course). I have already scored a couple pieces of Trangs, and today I traded for a Homunclus and Arm of Leoric...
So I wanted to share this story before I forgot it:
I look at the stats of the Arm of Leoric, and it has 10% of casting bone prison when struck.
I think, "interesting" ... and imagine it holding back enemies. But the first example of it casting trapped two mobs inside with me, luckily I was only in nightmare.
Then after killing Andy, I went over to click on the dead bodies in the fire, and it casts again, trapping me in the fire! I had to quit so I didnt burn to death =/
This new weapon is gonna get me killed.
