5/17/07 02:03 pm - BERJAYAindigokare - new notes from amy on the daemon site!

May 2007

Hey Everyone!

I am working on DVD about the solo touring years, so far, with The Butchies and The Volunteers. I am working with a great editor in Atlanta and it is slowly, but surely coming together. I have done a bunch of interviews and we have oodles of footage from various camera-like people. What I need is to fill in some gaps. I thought maybe the bootleggers out there could be of some help.

I am looking for some good sound recordings or video with good sound from a few shows. I did get one bootleg for the Echo Lounge and we sure do appreciate it, but the more the merrier because different tapes have different glitches.

* 8-25-01-The Echo Lounge, Atlanta
* 4-18-05-The Paradise, Boston
* 4-21-05-The Back Cat, D.C.
* Homo A Go Go-2006

Okay, if you have anything, you can send it to us at Daemon Records, P.O. Box 1207, Decatur, Ga. 30031. I will credit you for whatever we use ad send you something fun. How's that?

In recent news, Scott Turner Schofield did a bang up job organizing the show, Riffing in the Round at The Eyedrum in Atlanta.
Wow, did I have fun.

Writer T Cooper came across the country to read from his new book-Lipshitz Six, or two Angry Blondes. This new book by T tells a story that spans generations and gender in a classic way. If you haven't read the book yet, please check it out. T also recently edited a a book out on Akashic Books- A Fictional History of the United States (with Huge Chunks Missing)

The notorious Katz did some old favs and a couple of brand new pieces. His new record - Jockstraps and Unicorns is out. Katz is growing as an artist and this cd shows his evolution as it marries beats and music to words that are go from political to familial to just plain funny with southern twist.

Turner, a provocative and compelling story teller and spoken word artist, has been proving himself all over the country. At The Eyedrum show, Turner helped us to look at gender in a new way, face our prejudices, and have fun while doing it.

Three5Human came and played some tunes and we sang together as well. Trina and Tomi can do their thing acoustically and it still rocks the same. I have always wanted to hear Trina sing "On Your Honor" and she tore it up! Okay, they have a new record out as well-
A Swig From The Acid Bottle. As you know, they are one of the kickingest rock bands ever!

Gina from Riot Grrrl Ink came down and helped us out. She did some recording of the show, so check out the web site, http://www.riotgrrrlink.com for an upcoming podcast!

oh and more news...I have started another solo record. This may take a while, but the happy part is that I am gonna be playing some tunes with Melissa York again. She's got this rocking new band called The Ex-Members and is thriving as a drummer, songwriter, and beat master. We are hooking up periodically and arranging new music with a cool producer / musician- Greg Griffith. Recording starts this summer. I am having fun!

I.G.'s are gonna do a new record in the winter.

That's the news for now. I am sure there's more and I didn't even get into politics..but I will...

over and out!

4/12/07 01:43 pm - BERJAYAindigokare - news about amy ray from daemon

(and on her birthday, nonetheless!)

Hi,

We are releasing Amy Ray and the Volunteers: Live from Knoxville exclusively on Amazon starting April 24th. You can pre-order/reserve your copy now. It was in such demand that we thought we would just do a regular release. No bells or whistles - just a plain old CD and a plain old $11.97 price. Go grab a copy if you missed out on the limited edition.

If you are in or around Atlanta, GA on April 24th you won't want to miss this event! Riffing in the Round: An Artist in the Round series with Amy Ray (music), T.Cooper (lit), and Scott Turner Schofield (Theater) with Special Guests: Athens Boys Choir, Three5Human and Feminist Outlawz.
Tickets are available at Charis Books and More or online at Daemon Records. (http://daemonrecords.com/special_event.htm) You can also buy them the night of the event - if it doesn't sell out!

In other news, the Amy Ray Live DVD is in the last stages of editing. Amy has several songs written for her next record and is working with Mel York (formerly of The Butchies) on a few tracks now.

More later,
The Ladies of Daemon

Live Amy Record!

The mixing is done and now Amy is stuggling to find time to master the new live record. We are also working on a cool packaging idea of some sort. We hope to have it all together by November.

We have also gathered video of live shows and interviews and are in the works of making a DVD.

Molly Bancroft
"Red Dirt Diaries"

During breaks on working with DJ duo Gabriel and Dresden latest release Molly Bancroft (Lift) started writing some tunes of her own. What occured is a six song EP, Red Dirt Diaries, that brings us signature Molly songwriting. Cool pop with her stunning vocals. Check out some tunes here.

If you're into dance music we also suggest picking up the latest from Gabriel and Dresden. Molly lends her vocals/writing to several songs which hit the charts in the UK and Billboard.

Don't forget to become our friend! We're collecting them at Myspace!

The Crafties - Palace Fool

The new release from Gerard McHugh and the Crafties. With all the musical moxie that can be summoned in the middle of the week before 10 pm, the newly constituted Crafties truly define the leading edge of the hard-to-define sound of their own playing.

Sounds of Freedom

Sounds of Freedom brings together some of the country's best-known musicians to share their thoughts on spirituality and social change. Laurie Anderson, The Indigo Girls, Michael Franti, Michelle Shocked, and Phillip Glass along with other musicians from a wide range of genres discuss their motivation and commitment to peace, justice and happiness.

She's havin' my baby...

Congratulations to Erin Dangar of the Arts & Sciences on the arrival of new baby Cameron! Also, news is Ani Cordero and Chris Verne of Cordero are expecting an additon too. The Daemon family is growing with three little ones within a year!
