Hi, everybody. Today I’d like to talk about Slogans. It’s a marked trend nowadays – every Company has its own Slogan, every Brand has its own Motto, every Product has its own Catchword.Slogans are usually very short. I explain this as follows: the fewer words are used to express an idea, the stronger each word is, the more dramatic effect it has on people. However “shorter” doesn’t always mean “better”. Certainly, brevity is the soul of wit, but understatement may lead to misunderstanding. The line is very easy to go over.
Actually the line has already been gone over. Just look around – Slogans are everywhere. We’ve got used to them so much that we can no longer see how stupid, strange, odd and sometimes terrifying they are.
Burger King, for example, has the following Slogan: "It takes two hands to hold a Whooper!"
Lo comedy types. I'm new to LJ with virtually no virtual friends. My real friends have abandoned me as only real friends do. There is cake over at my place - and cak as well ;)
Hey guys! I hope this is not inappropriate to post here. It's a Comedy Central contest so... :)
I'm helping spread the word about Comedy Central's new "Virtual Podium" contest that went live just a few weeks ago! Basically you: create a short (30 seconds- 2min) video of yourself (or your cat, or your finger, or your sock puppet) laying out YOUR OWN presidential platform! Upload it to the site, & get your friends to vote on it a ton of times. The big prize is a trip to New York including exclusive party invites, spending cash, & more! And there is more than 1 trip being awarded!
So pleeeease click on the banner to go check out the site (or go to http://comcast.indecision2008.com)! It's a fun little contest, & if nothing else check out the gallery of videos & vote on your favorite(s)!!
What happened to the show? The IMDB reviews were terrible, but I absolutely loved it; and you can't dis the guest stars either. David Koechner was hysterical. So where did it go?
I'd rather watch old episodes of "Stella" than his new episodes (or any episodes, for that matter). Mmm, sweet Stella. Please come back to Comedy Central.
On a seperate note, Stephen Lynch is brilliantly amazing. I highly recommend you catching his show if he comes near your area, you will not be disappointed. David Josefsberg played along side of him for a couple of songs and was hysterical. He is a comedian to look out for if you enjoy Lynch's genre of humor.
Hey all. I'm trying to find the name of a comedy show/group that was shown on comedy central in the past 3-4 years. I believe they were all brits, but I can't find anything on them. Might've only shown one season? Its not the League of Gentleman or Monty Python or Ab Fab...it was skit comedy. Any help?
Hey! I missed Ellen Degenres comedy special last night and I can't find any listings on when it's gonna be on again. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know where i can watch the video of Jamie Kennedy's stand up where he's talking about giving out samples and the lady that would come and say "ommm, you got somethin' i can snack on? 'cause i'm kinda hungry..." ?
