hahahah i was reading the user info for this community and i skimmed over the interests and i was like... god we need to add "fucking" as an interest alongside all this cooking shit.. i dont know why it occurred to me... something like the sexualness of food and food preparation, so i was going to post that it simply had to be added! and then upon closer reading, lo and behold, maeve already did add "fucking". im so glad she exists.

mmm food... what can i say about it? i can say i like good food and not blah food.. but i guess were just sharing blah food recipes here. so here is some mediocre food i make the most...
salad dressing i make a lot:
-half and half (or to your personal preference) olive oil and vinegar. when you are going to be eating olive oil not as something added to pan for cooking, you should really use extra virgin olive oil even its it more expensive.
-a little mustard (put a little in... if not enough, at more, but start with like a tablespoon tops)
i highly suggest making your own beans instead of buying pre-canned. its way cheaper and fun to experiment with spices. i mainly make chickpeas and black beans.. i think they come in like 8oz bags?? just get the smallest bag of dry beans at the store and that they kind i get. its usually goya. it fills a reg size cooking pot
black beans- 40ish plus minutes depending on how long you soaked them
-soak overnight in enough water to fill the pan youre gonna use
-using the same water, start to boil the beans
-add 1/4 cup of olive oil
-add a bay leaf (this is really essential)
-add chili power and nutmeg (to taste.. i put in varying amount depending on how bored i am while cooking)
-while its boiling chop up about half an onion and a couple cloves of garlic and add to the pot
-keeo an eye on the beans. eventually they will use up all the water. at this point if you arent a vegetarian, then add chicken broth, or add water and chicken broth cube. if you are, then add water and a vegetable broth cube. or just water. there is no specific amount, just enough so that there is a very thin layer of water above the beans again... although sometimes near the end you want to add less than that because you DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO STRAIN THE BEANS.. they need all the juice. just tend to them, you know?
-keep tasting the beans until they get to their desired softness (longer is always better, i say... hard beans kind of suck. ive gotten impatient before and it ruins everything)
chickpeas - about 20-40 minutes
-soak for about two hours before boiling with enough water for the pan
-add a drop of olive oil
-essential bay leaf
-add nutmeg and curry powder.. a lot of both. some cumin as well
-chop up about half an onion and a couple cloves of garlic and add to the pot
-chickpeas tend to run out of water less than beans too, but sometimes you got thirsty chickpeas, if so add some more water. chickpeas shouldnt be cooked in chicken broth in my opinion.. messes with their flavor
-keep checking the chickpeas till they are at the softness you like
-once they are at the softness, add about 3/4 cup cream.. let that get all in there and then you have some awesome chickpea stuff... good alone, or in rice, or cold as a side for some other dish, etc
so thats what i cook the most often...
something good to always just buy are big flour tortillas. you can do a lot of shit with them:
-any salad that you would make, you can eat it all wrapped up in a wrap with ease
-egg burritos in the morning! complete with fake bacon, and choice of cheeses and vegetables. or you may want to go a mexican route and do eggs, black beans, cheddar and salsa in a wrap-- so good...
-quesadillas with whatever cheese on hand, or vegan cheese and then some kind of vegetable or something to cover up the fakeness of the cheese!!!!!!!
-salad wrap with bacon = awesome blt
-salad wrap with freezer breaded fish that cooks in like 20 minutes in the oven! yum!!!!!!
-salad wrap with frozen shrimp (another highly suggested item, unless you dont like shrimp––so useful all the time) cooked for about 2 minutes in a pan with olive oil, onions and garlic, or mushrooms prepared the same way
coming up: my secret mashed potato recipe, spicy shrimp pasta, this amazing pesto pasta dish, my home cooked meal of choice when i lived in the dorms that i think of only as that 'bean-mushroom-garlic meal', and some soup recipes!!!!!!!!! plus some food ideas that are so good that you probably forgot about them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also i will share some food ideas i got from the restaurant... the flour tortillas ALWAYS BEING ON HAND where def inspired by my obsession with the blt wrap when i first worked there. i would make it with fake bacon and then i was like... woah i can put SO MUCH OTHER FOOD IN WRAPS.
