You guys, I am sick as hale. I have a fever and my chest hurts and omg someone come to my house and baby me because ~lyfe sux~ right now.

I'm going to post the recipe share on Monday and leave it upon until Sunday, so there will be two recipe shares open at once for a few days time. Does it blow your mind? It should.

But, I hope everyone has a safe and pleasant weekend and I hope y'all feel better than I do!

Thanksgiving is fast approaching us*. Family is flying in, we're flying out. We're packing up all our ugly sweaters that Aunt Betty gave us because Mom says you have to wear them or she'll die (And she might. She's like, 90). Maybe you're having an Orphan's Thanksgiving with your room mates and friends.

No two years are the same in my neck of the woods. One year, I'll make a huge feast, and the next, I'm lugging a pie or casserole across town.

This post is a two-fer. The recipe share is side dishes. What are you bringing to your Turkey Day? The second part: share a memory of Thanksgiving dinner with us!

So, what's new this Monday? We have 52 members (introduce yourselves, new members!) on Live Journal and 45 fans on Facebook. We've grown so much in just a matter of days, we're getting submissions. I'm so pumped for this, all because of y'all out there in blog land!

I've updated the userinfo with rules and recipe share guidelines. I normally don't like too many rigid rules, but because of the nature of this community, I feel it very important to make this a safe space. If you could give the rules and recipe share guidelines a quick skim, that would be most excellent. Maybe you'll even see something I missed! But, it's important that you read these rules. Like I said before, the nature of this community really requires caution and understanding on everyone's part. "I didn't know I couldn't do that" is not an excuse here because it really can't be. But, I'm sure you all know this because you're an outstanding group of people!

This is pretty damn good for our very first post! Making candy can be kind of scary, so I can understand why there aren't too many recipes. And we're a new community. No big, y'all, no big. This post will be CLOSED on Tuesday at 7:00pm EST, so please do not post any more recipes in that post! I think 5 days is pleeeenty of time to post plenty of recipes. So, post away before Tuesday before that theme is gone!

I started this project in a fit of rage. Rage everyone in this community should feel. I started this project and this community when I heard the story of the young girl who was sexually assaulted outside of her homecoming dance in California. This rage and this feeling was not shared by everyone. Why? Why was the entire world not angry with me, physically ill by the details of this story?

They're not angry because they don't get it. They don't get it at all. We have to make them get it. We have to teach society that it is NOT okay to rape, that no woman owes another person their body for any reason, that women are not property. We must make them see that clothing doesn't matter. Location doesn't matter. Class, race, social status does not matter. We must make them see that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime and that those statistics are too high. Their existence is problematic and disgusting and wrong. It is no longer something that might have to get done eventually. It's something that must get done now.

The community of the victim mentioned above is now taking donations and cards. I hope that everyone in this community can find it in their hearts to put the flags on their mailboxes up. That they can pull their communities together and flood this girl with love and support. Let her know you care, that we care, that we are fighting for her and we won't stop fighting until we can fight no more.

Good morning, everyone! I hope everyone rested up for our first recipe share! Because Halloween is tomorrow, I figured a good way to kick off this very special post would be to have our theme be candy and pumpkin flavored dishes. I'm also willing to consider recipes that use traditional Halloween candy as one of the main ingredients.

So, the recipe shares are going to work like this: You post a recipe in the comments with all the steps and ingredients. Extra points for pictures. This has to be a recipe you've tried before! Don't just google "____ recipes"! That's not fun, that's not fair, and I could do that myself. This is a community effot!

If the recipe is NOT of your own creation, make your composition teacher proud and cite your source, so to speak. Don't have the source? No big, but make sure to let me know that it's not a recipe you created. There are ways to alter recipes so they can be published without Martha Stewart's hired guns breaking down my door and breaking my knees with a 2 day old loaf of garlic bread.
